I’m 22 just finishing my last year of school and have everything I need but a truck to put it in. Appreciate the guidance, not a lot of folks like to show young fellas the light nowadays 👍

Also when you work your rig you are fine tuning your rig. You will learn what you don't need and what you do need you never thought of, you will learn the most efficient way to store your tools.

Traded in my Nissan Altima while working as maintenance welder at a plant. Got all my tools and truck together and now basically hired on as a maintenance rig welder for the plant. Pretty much my dream job just being able to work out of my rig much less the freedom of being able to just be given a task and go handle it. If I ever have to leave this facility, atleast I’ll have all my own stuff and be ready to go. Plus since I look like a little kid you can already imagine how hard it is to convince a hiring office I’m able to run a rig.

Good advice . Went to a down hand pipewelding school . Started welding caps on bare 16"pipe done that till one was good at capping then graduated to doing coupons of the same size pipe till the end of the coarse where one took a regular down hand test and then pulled straps. Worked there after at a trucking out fit fixing and welding on trucks and trailers to get rigged up and also in between working there went welder helping on pipeline . Helping on the line gave one a very good Idea of what pipeline was about and one got contacts

Also at most of the schools where you would get the Pipeline knowledge and guidance there are pipeline hands and welders and welder helpers that come in and visit talk about the jobs answer questions and even a few that have weld bosses to drop in An SCOOPE OUT THE CLASS FOR THE NEXT “GOLDEN ARM” I know of fue kids got out of school and started welding and went to school and finished up and put the time in networking and within a month or two was able to get on as a welding helper for the first 2 jobs and proved there selfs to the welder and weld boss and got a test and has never looked back!! Plus one who started at night and working of a day then ended up making a test before they even finished the school up and went straight to work all because the teacher seen how good he was and never came in late or left early and most importantly never missed a day. So the teacher hand the boss come in to see him

When it’s nothing but a long list of affiliate links, like the video is about a knife and you have an Amazon link for your camera and microphone… or you do a head to head and still have an Amazon link for the product that lost, that you trashed in the video…

Hey Austin, my name is Hunter. I'm 16 soon to be 17 years old. I gained a 7018 1G welding certification as a welding 3 student at my local highschool. I go to school 5 days a week 8 hours a day and am looking for either a welding job or trying to get some side work welding. My problem is either no one wants to hire a 16 or 17 year old kid that has a welding certification, my schedule won't allow me to work week days and no one around me does weekend work. The other thing about trying to get side work on the weekends is that everybody and their brother welds out here so no one is needing a welder. Any tips you have for someone like me who's still in high-school and can't work a day job on weekdays? I'm honestly struggling and would really love some advice.

    • @DaBinChe
      @DaBinChe Рік тому

No one wants a 1G welder. Over half of my beginner stick students pass the 1G 7018 at end of the semester, having never welded before. Realistically 1G doesn't mean anything, have any value to a company. At the least get a 3G. So keep practicing.

Corrections need to be made in this video Austin. You said "Downhill Welding" and mentioned an 8018, which is completely wrong. Pulling from Lincoln electric's website:
    Excalibur® 8018-B2 MR®: Welding Positions
    All except vertical down
    Excalibur® 8018-C1 MR®:Welding Positions
    All except vertical down
    Excalibur® 8018-C3 MR®:Welding Positions
    All except vertical down
What you should have put is an 8045, 9045 or 10045 rod:
    Pipeliner® LH-D80
    Stick (SMAW)
AWS: E8045-P2 H4R: 80% higher productivity over traditional vertical-up pipe welding
    Pipeliner® LH-D90
    Stick (SMAW)
    AWS: E9045-P2:
    Special Features
Designed for low hydrogen *vertical down* welding on pipe
    Pipeliner® LH-D100
    Stick (SMAW)
    AWS: E10045-P2 H4R:
    Special Features
Designed for low hydrogen *vertical down* welding on pipe

I've been out of the game for about 15 years now, messing up in life and raising my family. Man I wish I still had the hookup getting back out there. Sh*t I probably couldn't run a root pass to save my life right now but a little practice I got it, give me a week and put me on x-ray. I got the truck ready to roll out now minus the welding machine, leads and torches. I may have to come back out as a helper, but at least I'll be back with my brothers. Is anyone in or around South Louisiana running pipeline and needs a hand? Im ready to get back to the grind asap. I can be on the job in the next 24 hours let me know. I have about 15 years in the game pipefitting and welding structure and pipe mig, tig and stick. Its been a while since I've welded any pipe. But Im will to bust my ass and help get the job done by any means necessary. I have a one ton Ram 3500 ready to roll. Let me know man I'll load up and head your way now. ✌🏽
