You are so accurate, our 5 year old son speech delayed and he is more confident in speaking in English..We are South Africans me and my husband we speak Isixhosa and we try to speak to him with Our own language but he responds in English, the problem starts when we go to visit my family and my inlaws the Grand Parents cant speak in English and its so embarrassing when they want to communicate with their grand child he just looks at them and keep quiet.I am even thinking of buying him iSixhosa books but i felt like maybe i am going to confuse him thanks for your advice i will try to be more strict for him to respond with our mother tounge than english.
Wow!! I noticed my daughter not liking other languages! But she needs to learn Spanish and Urdu. Cause my husband is Indian and I am Hispanic
Interesting this make me think a lot about my 4 years daughter she has a severe speech delay and just recently she is making full sentences, mainly in english (we talk Italian at home and the mother talk to her in her mother tongue, Spanish) living in US we decided to push only the english because it is talked at school, but now I have the doubt it was not the right decision. She now understand mainly Spanish and talk almost only english, and our english is poor, I mean my is good at work but I ‘m not good in things my doughtier need like for example animal names or other kids stuff , I realize now how our lack of fluency limit our capacity to transfer to her appropriately the english language
Thank you for this information
I needed it alot
For my daughter ❤️
So my child is autistic and he’s trying to learn many social skills where I have to describe every social situation 😢, should I still try to say everything to him in Chinese?
Should be fine
