I have one of the standalone digital delay/one second loopers without the chorus but from pre-Digitech when they were still releasing their new digital stuff through DOD. Incredible delay algorithm they put together.
I remember seeing the DOD/Digitech double pedals on shelves when I was a youngin, and they kinda got lost to history. You almost never see them anymore.
Aw Dude...when I did retail this series was new; couldn't give 'em away. The last remaining vestige of the series is the Whammy Pedal - it was also the last entry - I think. I was just thinking yesterday, if you could get the Pedalverb, that would be great - it was my favorite of the series. SOUNDS GREAT! BTW I may not have sold a few delays if they'd all bring back the range control. And a 24 second lfo at a light setting may add a cool texture to a song that doesn't sink in, until you take it away. Thanks for showing us this one.
I've been a DigiTech fan since the mid to late 80s, when I bought the PDS-1002, which I still have. They haven't always been well understood, especially when they were so far ahead of everyone else. The Space Station and the Time Bender delay are great examples of this. I would have bought all of the PDS pedals if I could have afforded them at the time. Thanks for bringing attention to the 2700. It's still a great sounding pedal.
I had a Time Bender for a short while and stupidly traded it for some flash in the pan distortion. I’d love to find and talk with one of the original engineers one of these days
congrats on 10K! super happy for you, and indeed, 10K peoples who stop by to learn in a super-fun way. this form factor from DigiTech produced some very real magic. for me and my weird friends, our lives were pretty much dominated by the PDS 1002. *two whole seconds* of digital delay created, essentially, this vast playground of terrible behaviour involving, but not limited to, the following: -stealing Dune dialogue samples from VHS -capturing MultiMoog whompalomps, speeding / slowing them to meet some sort of tempo, then ignoring the tempo anyway -using delay speed variation sweeps on captured car-crash foley -and last but not least, sending L and R signals of all of the above to discrete full Marshall stacks. i'll love DigiTech until the zombie apocalypse takes me.
Thank you!! Much appreciated. For me, it was trying to catch a loopable bit of NIN or Ministry that I could jam over. The idea of something a Boomerang sampler was a daydream.
This exact pedal and a Woodcutter RAT were my first pedals. My mom bought them from my guitar teacher in 1995 for maybe $80 total. I didn't have internet back then so I didn't know what I had and the RAT died on me. I've had several RATs die on me, actually. BUT this pedal disappeared somewhere and it took me 3 years of searching Reverb to get one. I haven't heard the other pedals in the doubleplay series but this one is great.
There's so much circuitry in there, at some point vintage digital pedals become a bit of ticking time bomb, but yeah, Digitech really had no limits as long as it could fit into the enclosure with these pedals.
Isn’t it awesome when you just throw some sounds down that magically turn into a theme song? I created one that turned into an 80s-scifi-TV-show-end-credits theme (that can be seen and heard on my channel!). Anyway, great intro jam. Tasty tones! I love diners, so I’d def watch that snowboarder film. Awesome video. I really like how you don’t “review” pedals, but rather share their features and foibles. Congrats on 10k! We’ll all be looking for the party invite.
Hey man, I have an idea; maybe summarize DOD's choruses of the early '80s. They were strangely numerous and mine - the FX-60, sounded superb; not flowery like an Ibanez or Boss, but more cutting like a Leslie and did something peculiar to your midrange that I liked. Anyway, this video was a lot of fun. Great sounding pedal.
A fun use case would be to do double chorus: set the delay side to a chorusing time, then turn on the chorus side of the pedal and try to find a sweet spot. Not saying it would sound good, but it can be fun/interesting.
The multi delay is almost the same thing but there's controls for modulation on the delay instead of the chorus and there's a three way switch for delay times and the infinite feature goes to two seconds and you can set it as a flanger, chorus, reverb, rainbow machine type insanity to long delay
Your signature pedal would be a slicer on one side and a slicer on the other side. Haha jk but probably a slicer and rotary or harmonic trem thing on one side and a pink shigeharu on the other. It's a big pedal.
Simpsons unintentional but I'll take it. I was thinking this signature pedal of yours would grow quickly if cramming a shigeharu and a rotary slicer in there but hey it's doable we got the technology. "Mmmmm, something" There's my simpsons heh
Slicer and Rotary combined. can confirm that this combo can lead directly into questioning one's reality. highly recommended. level up mode: SL20, RT20 > Matrix mixer of your choice (i like Matrise) > return signal into SL20, RT20. edit: Ralphie Wiggum: it tastes like burning
Oh man. I had one of these when I played back in the late '90s and early 2000s. Sold it when I stopped playing. I recently picked up my guitar again and I'm kicking myself in the pants for selling it.😢
There were two on reverb when I bought this, not sure when the other one sold. I'm sure more will surface, I don't think I have *quite* that effect on the secondhand market.
I got the multi play much more fun you can do all kinds of crazy shit with it I was thinking about getting the double play but ended up getting the chorus and flanger double pedal instead and not liking it so I gave it to a friend
@@StompboxBreakdown the one with chorus on one side and flanger on the other it's not that great the chorus doesn't go nearly as deep as the double play and the flanger is pretty weak also it's why I gave it to my friend in a annual box of junk exchange we do once in a while I send him stuff that just didn't work for me and some other random stuff and he does the same
10k -> Gratulations! -> Well deserved! 👍
Thank you so much.
Troy Van Leeuwen used one of these during Failure and A Perfect Circle. Finally glad to see a updated demo of this pedal
I have a PDS 1550, it's not just a TS and a HM2, it also has a delay in it!! This line is wild!
Oh right, a 40ms delay to thicken things up a little bit. Amazing how all-in Digitech went with this line.
I have one of the standalone digital delay/one second loopers without the chorus but from pre-Digitech when they were still releasing their new digital stuff through DOD. Incredible delay algorithm they put together.
I remember that one. I had the single pedal version from DOD that only had one switch and you had to toggle between sampling and delay modes.
Yay!! 10,000 subs!! Great news! Love this channel. Best pedal show around imho.
YEEEAH BOYEE! You've earned every subscriber with your humor, informative approach and charisma! Here's to 20K more, much love 💜
Goodness thats an attractive pedal in sound looks and everything
You really don't see too many dark green pedals these days
I remember seeing the DOD/Digitech double pedals on shelves when I was a youngin, and they kinda got lost to history. You almost never see them anymore.
Hey 10K! Big congratulations Jeff. Those of us who've been around here awhile know how good this channel is, it's great others are finding out too.

Congratulations on 10K! Great review of an older pedal. The past lives on.........
Congrats on 10K!!! Glad to have hopped on your bandwagon early and wishing you loads of success and hopefully fun doing it! ✌️😃🎸
Bring back some memories :)

Keep the videos coming! Always a highlight to the day when you post a new one.
Aww thank you!!

Hey Jonny,
2,000 Subs reached is great news👍🍺🥳
Onwards to 3,000 🤞🙏

i remember the double play . i have a few pds units here . they are great - the 2020 is the one
Congrats on the 10k🎉
5:02 really sounds like a lot of information is lost when the effect is engaged. The high frequency is attenuated pretty drastically.
Yeah, it feels like a lot of the high end left the chat when the circuit gets engaged
it's a feature, not a bug. set and setting matters. see Timothy Leary for more details.
A fun use case would be to do double chorus: set the delay side to a chorusing time, then turn on the chorus side of the pedal and try to find a sweet spot.
Not saying it would sound good, but it can be fun/interesting.
Might do some weird phasing stuff, might sound doubly awesome. You never know with Digitech
The multi delay is almost the same thing but there's controls for modulation on the delay instead of the chorus and there's a three way switch for delay times and the infinite feature goes to two seconds and you can set it as a flanger, chorus, reverb, rainbow machine type insanity to long delay
I got one. It’s cool. Very good with synths also.
Congrats on the 10k.
We NEED a demo of PDS1550.
Very cool pedal, and great demo!
Thank you!
Love it, thanks!
So when are we making the snowboarder movie?
Your signature pedal would be a slicer on one side and a slicer on the other side.

Definitely some element of rotary. And was that a Simpsons reference at the end??”
Simpsons unintentional but I'll take it. I was thinking this signature pedal of yours would grow quickly if cramming a shigeharu and a rotary slicer in there but hey it's doable we got the technology.
"Mmmmm, something"

Can’t find one online anywhere

Does the Beanie help you play bass?
Obviously
Who is that bass player? Does he do sessions?
I got the multi play much more fun you can do all kinds of crazy shit with it I was thinking about getting the double play but ended up getting the chorus and flanger double pedal instead and not liking it so I gave it to a friend
I am tempted by the flanger version of this pedal
@@StompboxBreakdown the one with chorus on one side and flanger on the other it's not that great the chorus doesn't go nearly as deep as the double play and the flanger is pretty weak also it's why I gave it to my friend in a annual box of junk exchange we do once in a while I send him stuff that just didn't work for me and some other random stuff and he does the same
stereo FXianado.
I'm gonna start using that from now on
