To be totally honest the schools in Union County, just outside Charlotte are much better. The taxes are also much cheaper than in Charlotte Metro, ( Mecklenburg County) The housing and most of the local shopping are also all much newer. It's spread out a little more and you can still easily get to the city if you need to.
To give you some perspective im from Matthews. How do you differentiate a good neighborhood from an expensive neighborhood? I mean, even before the pandemic you needed deep pockets for these places. Lmk
There's a ton of great communities on the lower & higher end of the pricing scale.. It really depends on what you're looking for... Tell me a little more about your price range? maybe we can point you in the right direction & identify some great areas for you.

My neighborhood in NW Charlotte didn't make the list. Overhead air traffic and railroad traffic around me at all hours. Odors/vapors from the nearby pipeline terminal waft through the neighborhood often. Gunfire and coyotes calling at night. Not the best neighbors. High rates of cancer (including me), may be due to rumors our neighborhood was built on top of a toxic landfill. Old timers state the entire area was home to numerous toxic landfills at one time. Otherwise, I love Charlotte and don't plan on leaving! I was raised in Florida but migrated here nearly 3 decades ago for better employment, less crime and affordable housing - not disappointed. Maternal family began migrating to Charlotte after WWI from Eastern NC - I'm the last survivor. Keep in mind that Charlotte is a 'Sanctuary City'.

NW Charlotte is growing VERY fast. I actually live in this area as well, over in Mt Isle Harbor. What part of NW CLT do you live in?
Moved to Charlotte in 1970. I was able to escape after 40 years. Stay out of Mecklenburg Co. So happy to NOT be there any longer.

Prices go up each year until aggregators start to disagree with the price and it suddenly stops going up and then craters 😂
I dont think we will see any crater in home prices until we have more inventory on the market

Mooresville, just north of Charlotte has the trump national golf course. And some of his family own homes in Gaston county 🤷♂️. I hope that helps
