When i first started listen to music i thought the only cool stuff was Death metal till i started to the stuff Thomas does, and not only has it changed my tastes, but how i look at music all together.
hey man just wanna say thanks posting this. gotta say thom is a great muscian and definitely a songwriting influence on me as a guitarist hope he does well in the new band
Thomas...you are the reason why i strive to make music. I practice everyday hopin to become maybe as good as you. I listen to all of the material uve made..not just the fall of troy. Seeing u like this is really something, even if its just youtube. I swear if my girlfriend didnt break up with me, you would be the only reason i would cry of jealousy lmao
@BTBHead213 Also, I doubt he plays this song very regularly anymore considering it's a much older one and from what I've seen they RARELY play it live.
I wanted to meet him when I went to see them at the Subterranean in chicago this past friday. He walked right past me but I didn't say anything because you know what they say about meeting your heroes. I didn't want the off chance that he'd take me as some over energetic fan and tell me to fuck off or something. I'd literally be heartbroken lol.
dude how the fuck has Thomas been? I hear is getting back on tour with Just Like Vinyl....wanna see him again when he comes to town....he had to cancel due to that accident last time....
Do you think one day you guys will ever get back together? & If you do let me know if there will be tree-outs for rhythm guitar :3 I would love to jam out with you & Tim Ward! :D
@TheOldSchoolCrisis I dunno why, but I liked it when he fucked up. I find it "cute" ish or something when pros slip up a little. And he's just like "Gah, fuck" that sorta thing. Made me chuckle:)
@cantsnapurpicture he didn't upload these videos, but I'll answer for you. He's said that he has two music projects coming up, a main one which is a four piece and another which is more of a side-project
yah. thts true and he moves ALOT live. i think thats probly the reason they made the songs on inthe unlikely event easier. but the way he plays it here. correct me if im wrong but it sounds kinda swung on some parts. im perty sure he plays it a litl different than the recording.
i meant alot of the parts that he sings and plays at the same time are alot simpler. compared to old stuff like. mouths like sidewinder misiles. for example.
Looks like that double cut has a wide flat neck I hate that.. I see he switched in the other videos any chance Tom would be down to do some more doppelganger tracks I got some neat Gibson's in MA
This guitar looks like a Gibson Les Paul double cutaway with a swapped bridge pup. Can someone confirm? Looks kind of like a Hamer special. Also, what delay pedal does he use? Sounds like a memory man on the live stuff. Maybe even two running together. Very innovative guitarist.
@bigmangurl2 cool, I heard it never existed. It only existed in youtube commenter myths that people try to make real but cant since its the internet. O:
Thomas is one of the coolest dudes I have ever chilled with. He is a great guy.
Hello i am from Argentina.... saludos desde mi pais
Of coirse he's a great guy :p he wrote and played some of the best music ever.
SWEAR IM TELLING YOU THE TRUUUTTTHHH
1:29 new lyrics?
Thanks Tom!
You're the first artist I've known of that actually attempts at teaching their fans how to play their songs.
Christopher Daly II Been listening to them since I was 15. Now I’m 28. By far the biggest influence on my own playing.
I can't believe he actually messed up. I've seen them live and he was amazingly accurate, even while singing.
What would posses a 17 y/o to write a song drop A. Thomas is nothing short of a genius
Miguel Guzman He was nineteen-twenty when they wrote and recorded Doppelganger, but yes, still an incredible youth musician.
Haha he said before that he just makes music that he wants to listen to.
Miguel Guzman i dont think drop a is that genius, but theres absolutely no doubt that Tom is freaking brilliant
Yea for real, I was dropping a 6 string to A in high school but not because i was a genius lol
who's to say he wrote and recorded doppelganger at the same time, he could of wrote act one scene one 2 weeks after their debut
This guy is so under rated it's criminal.
Love the way he plays it in this video. Sounds a lot more somber than the studio version.
I really appreciate ur work thomas
When i first started listen to music i thought the only cool stuff was Death metal till i started to the stuff Thomas does, and not only has it changed my tastes, but how i look at music all together.
this may be one of the all time greatest songs on the planet. id love to see him re-record this.
OMG you should sing along with these. that would be amazing!
Favourit track from Doppelganger since ages. You're one hell of a monster on the guitar!!
BTBhead213 thanks for putting these up! This guy rocks! I was starting to doubt guitarists these days!
omg this is my fav song i love you dude!!!!
that's awesome....now if only i can get one.....
I bursted out laughing on the fuck up. Love this guy.
It still sounds awesome even when he screws up because he's magical
hey man just wanna say thanks posting this. gotta say thom is a great muscian and definitely a songwriting influence on me as a guitarist hope he does well in the new band
I read that comment a few days ago and now every time I watch this video I laugh like an idiot. Thanks!
At first I was like O.o
then he messed up and i was like -_-
but then I remembered that hes still fucking amazing and I was like
=O

Thomas! Remake this video! such an amazing song
I tried to get him to sign my nike at the chiodos show and he said he'd come back and never did ;D classic badass thomas.
Gibson Double Cutaway Les Paul Standard.
Thomas...you are the reason why i strive to make music. I practice everyday hopin to become maybe as good as you. I listen to all of the material uve made..not just the fall of troy. Awesome play!
this is heavenly
ridiculous. thomas is so amazing.
if you leave in washington id say go for it!. im in FL -______-
@BTBHead213 Also, I doubt he plays this song very regularly anymore considering it's a much older one and from what I've seen they RARELY play it live.
i fuckin want one of those double cutaways sooo bad!!! i'll hold up any old man shop to do it... except Zeds lol
One of the beast songs.
you are a respectible person
I love that guitar! *drools*
Badass.
I never knew the bottom string was tuned to A. My mind is blown
i dont blame him for messin up. look at his fingers flying all over the place. sounded great
watching these videos, i just thought were amazing covers, then this video tom shows his face and then absolute mindfuck
@cowisgod1 i think there hammer ons because look at the way hes plucking.1 pluck per each set of chords
@BTBHead213 To be more precise, a Les Paul Double Cut Standard Plus in a Rootbeer finish with Seymour JB pup in the bridge
this vid dominates
fuuuuckkk i just love this song.. the solo is the best part of the song
Can anyone tell what chords he is playing from 51 seconds to 55 seconds?
I wanted to meet him when I went to see them at the Subterranean in chicago this past friday.
He walked right past me but I didn't say anything because you know what they say about meeting your heroes. I didn't want the off chance that he'd take me as some over energetic fan and tell me to fuck off or something.
I'd literally be heartbroken lol.
awesome
is the part at 0:15 pulloffs or hammer ons? or both. i have the tab on guitar pro and its confusing me -_-
The Fall Of Troy is playing a reunion show.
probably my favorite tfot song,
what's the ring on his right pinky?
god i fucking love him.
I so have those shorts in blue :)
Gibson Les Paul Standard Double Cut Plus, Rootbeer Finish, with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge :D
Can somebody explain to me what is he exactly doing in 0:51? I can't figure it out
+Tito Merchan Hes playing double stops man
x x 10 9 0 x
x x 12 10 0 x
BTB, if you're still in contact with Thomas, can you see if he'll be willing to make vids of the old Ghostship songs? :D
dude how the fuck has Thomas been? I hear is getting back on tour with Just Like Vinyl....wanna see him again when he comes to town....he had to cancel due to that accident last time....
i want a guitar like this
Does anyone know what type of guitar he has in this video?
How'd you get him to record all of these for you
Ily thom :3
how can you tune so low? from E to A...
how does he get that tone?
what kind of guitar is that?? sounds great!!
Do you think one day you guys will ever get back together? & If you do let me know if there will be tree-outs for rhythm guitar :3 I would love to jam out with you & Tim Ward! :D
@lightsZeroKaos There's the tabs on Songsterr . com ._. I found a mistake in it, you can figure it out :P
He makes the same noise I do when I make a mistake... GAAAHHH
If you watch this in slow mo then you can see sparks fly off the strings after he strums them
i just wanna know why the end of TFOT ,was a very good band...
ahh...
i'll miss your sounds!
(sorry if this was an wrost english) thank's!
What strings he used? 9-46? 9-48? 10-52?
Probably 11s, or 10s with a heavier gauge bottom E (top string)
he does lessons.
At least he finished that section. Wish he did the epic solo at the end though... :(
I think these were tutorials since he just told you to what the strings were tuned to. Thats why its alot slower than the actual song.
hey thomas! i have the same guitar as you, mine is an '05, what year is yours?
@TheOldSchoolCrisis I dunno why, but I liked it when he fucked up. I find it "cute" ish or something when pros slip up a little. And he's just like "Gah, fuck" that sorta thing. Made me chuckle:)

but the way he plays it here.
correct me if im wrong but it sounds kinda swung on some parts.
im perty sure he plays it a litl different than the recording.
I want that shirt
Really good try. Keep practicing dude, maybe one day you too will play as good as Thomas..
@A Punk Rock who's thomas?
@@Reneismad are you a new meme? :v
john d Thomas is the lead singer and guitarist of the band of the song he’s playing in this video
That’s the joke
Wish he would have done a 'tutorial' thing for What Sound Does a Mastodon Make...but oh well.
i meant alot of the parts that he sings and plays at the same time are alot simpler. compared to old stuff like. mouths like sidewinder misiles. for example.
So this is basically in AADGCE tuning?
Looks like that double cut has a wide flat neck I hate that.. I see he switched in the other videos any chance Tom would be down to do some more doppelganger tracks I got some neat Gibson's in MA
sick =x
why not make an instrumental album of these songs? i'm pretty sure alot of ppl would buy.
1:29 gaah !
whats the tuning for the guitar?
Noctiscal AADGCE
This guitar looks like a Gibson Les Paul double cutaway with a swapped bridge pup. Can someone confirm? Looks kind of like a Hamer special. Also, what delay pedal does he use? Sounds like a memory man on the live stuff. Maybe even two running together. Very innovative guitarist.
+Matt Parish Well he must have got it repaired. He's been using it on his 2015 tour. I saw it in Toronto.
+Wes Dizz He actually bought another right after he broke his first one around 2007
+Andrew Caballero True. It's such a nice guitar. I've always wanted to try one out. 24 frets of beauty.
wow yknow i thought these videos were all like impostor vids haha its the real deal
Erak seems really busy with Chiodos right now, they're about to go in and record a new record, so I doubt anything will ever happen with TFoT again...
Wesley Schmidt wohooo theyre back
@ImNotRightlyMade there are a simplified way of reading music
Hey, my youtube name was TFOT4EVER, do you remember me?
Oh, you are thomas erak, i thought you were some random guy who was awesome at these songs.....
@clanleader500 Anybody wanna answer? This is kinda confusing.
i like how he changed 0:46 - 0:50 :) from the ogirinal this one is better since its allitle slower
its just this EADGBe -> AADGCe
Yeah you can. Just buy an album.
'Guahhh' LOL
"Is this the real Thomas Erak ?!"
>> LOL
@bigmangurl2 cool, I heard it never existed. It only existed in youtube commenter myths that people try to make real but cant since its the internet. O:
whos the chick in the back, his gf?
