34 years old. This music just always hits home for me as a confused millennial in this fucked up world. So much pain and emotion in one song that comes all rushing back in a few short minutes. Blows my mind how a melody and some simple lyrics can do that. One of the greatest bands from that age. Underestimated. Understated. If you know, you know.
@@computershoplovestory he's still in the band he has a kid now and I think he's trying to work on his drinking habit so not a lot of time to tour unless it's locally and he still writes music with them
I think it was on this tour when they had to send Tim home cause he was fucking up tho.... And the way he pushed Thomas off it seems a little agressive.

i never noticed until i learned the song on guitar, but the intro they play live is very similar to the start of the section at 5:35 , just slowed down and repeated + some crazy thom improv

It’s all improvised. If you look at the live versions of this dating all the way back to 2006, they’re different every single time. Sometimes the lyrics don’t make sense, but they work. It’s all improv which is awesome.
He changes it often, but for 'Act One' he downtunes his low E down to an A (ouch), and tunes his B string up to a C (also ouch) so the bottom four strings make a full sounding chord, and all he has to do is fret the D string. Genius
Alexx Traitor he had a sore throat in this one. He usually sings he exact same live. This one appears to be at the end of a tour. They all look hella tired.
I kind of like his hit and miss, not so pitch perfect singing voice. It goes well with the music imo. It's his own. It's mathy emo rock.... I almost expect it to a certain extent.

Saw these guys last month at a small bar and they really brought it.
One of the best shows I've ever seen
That brotherhood I felt when thom leaned on Tim. That was inspiring.
hahahaha

Fernando Garcia nah wasn’t aggressive. It was more like a “get outa here man” type push

probably the most emotional version of this song i've seen

thts amazing you were able to notice tht coherence and connection. a lot of people wouldnt notice tht. so much intricacy in this band i love it
Why the fuck do they only do that amazing intro live?
probably came up with it way after.
It's something they've only been doing within recent years. They've always done a warm up intro to most of their songs live anyways.

does anyone know what orange head thomas is using here? is it the rockerverb?
Steezmeister3000 i think it’s an OR100 at this point, tho he did use a rockerverb for a while
Yeah, its the OR100 lately. Just a week or two ago he was doing press stuff for it.
@@taxscandalandthebuenos This video is 5 years old..
@@justdrop the guy before me mentioned that he uses an OR100 nowadays.. I was just agreeing with him.
Does anyone have the tab for his intro
I wish haha...most of it is just improv that he changes every show. Although I guess someone could figure out how to tab this version...
He changes it often, but for 'Act One' he downtunes his low E down to an A (ouch), and tunes his B string up to a C (also ouch) so the bottom four strings make a full sounding chord, and all he has to do is fret the D string. Genius
Another side note: I think him and Tim tuned their respective guitars down a half-step on this tour.? So instead of Key C its like B or something
Cal Sakaguchi That is true. They recorded in E Standard but tune down to E Flat to make it easier of Thoms voice live
@@reallyscaryrob2429 this year they jist released a tab book on the whole doppelganger album check it out

E standard still heavy :)

Eli and im pretty sure they were tuning down a half step here so that A is an Ab now 🤷🏻♀️
AADGCE is not standard...
I wish I was in Kiev :c
do you really though?
would be awesome if they'd do accent on melody in their songs, instead of scream and stuff, they really can do it much better
this dude sings horrible live
Alexx Traitor he had a sore throat in this one.
He usually sings he exact same live. This one appears to be at the end of a tour. They all look hella tired.
You try playing complex riffs while singing.
For how technically amazing he is and how tired he is here, he's doing goddamn well.
I kind of like his hit and miss, not so pitch perfect singing voice. It goes well with the music imo. It's his own. It's mathy emo rock.... I almost expect it to a certain extent.
Well he definitely ruined his voice after Ghost Ship. Probably spent the first three albums screaming wrong and fucked his vocal cords.
