BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Watch the video first. If you don't then some of you will be repeating either the stupid establishment narrative or the equally stupid hate all immigrants narrative. Anyone posting stuff that's likely to get the video flagged will get barred from commenting any of my vids. Keep it balanced, keep it cool. Cheers.
    [UPDATE in response to replies]
    1) I don't believe in the left vs right political model so there's no point trying to discuss that with me - that's an over-simplistic verbal trap of artificial division. I stopped thinking in those terms over a decade ago.
    2) There are dozens of contributory elements to the recent UK riots explored in the video. If you're just here to post over-simplistic, single cause, only one group to blame, rhetoric already doing the rounds from either side of the "debate" then you either haven't watched the video or aren't particularly interested in anything more complex than newspaper headlines. But you are still free to go express those thoughts on your own channels or in other comment sections on the topic of the riots.
    3) The reason I don't typically post political vids is because I find the over-simplistic and tribalistic language patterns (of party politics especially) incredibly predictable and boring. I'm only making an exception with this video because the coverage near enough across the board, both media discussion AND online chatter, has overlooked so many factors (factors I've tried to outline in this vid).

You seem to value being seen as "balanced" and you like to think of yourself as this measured middleground guy. Have you ever thought about who dictates this middle ground? In a political landscape where both democrats and conservatives have slid so far off to the left, anything slightly to the right of this perceived political playing field is seen "extreme". In your bid to position yourself in "the middle" you're actually still firmly wedged inside a matrix. you're only as reasonable as the cattle crush your overlords have cattle prodded you into. You believe you might be a dissident, but they funnel you right back in. You not allowing comments that fall outside of the norm, you are a peon of the regime.

You must live in a different Germany than I do.
In the Germany where I live, even newspapers that were once considered left nowadays simply repeat right-wing narratives without even fact-checking them.
We also live in a country where a major party created camps for people that aren't wanted here and calls them "ANKER" (anchor) where the "R" in anchor stands for "return". So the name of these camps is in itself a cruel joke that sounds very similar to how things were named between 33 to 45.
These camps were created to have "hot spots" in major cities with larger immigrant populations so every time the so-called "Christian union" CSU could just pull "immigrant violence" out of the hat to mobilize the voter base.
We're also living in a country where the far left seems to be free to make nonsense antisemitic claims about the Israel-Palestine conflict (that's been dragging on for as long as I can remember). A lot of things can be said today in Germany that were once considered taboo even under Helmut Kohl. So, no, right-wing is today much more mainstream than it was back in the 80's and 90's. No more campaigns like "my friend is a foreigner" by the German Bundesliga, etc.

I think your way of presenting this proves the OP right.
What you call "repeating right-wing narratives" is actually regular and common sense perspectives that German politics and media have simply ignored since the 2010s.
The "ANKER camps" you claim for "people who aren't wanted here" (btw part of BAMF - the government office to bring thousands and thousands of immigrants into the country) is a very weak attempt at doing the reasonable thing - namely returning illegal immigrants and dangerous criminals to the countries they came from. There are countless exampless of people comitting crimes I cannot mantion on UA-cam, who were NOT even considered being sent out of the country - and if there had been camps BEFORE immigration in the first place, Germany and Europe wouldn't have the problems they are having now.
You are (like many Germans) allergic to the term "camp" and you play that like a card in a game in order to make the reasonable concept seem somehow indecent.
Your way of presenting immigrant violence as a trick by the not-really-so-conservative-anymore party is EXACTLY the dishonest and ignorant attitude that led to the UK riots.
What you consider "once taboo even under Helmut Kohl" would be very interesting to hear.
Please give some examples from official media.
I am pretty sure that the "taboos" you think of were created in recent years by the zeitgeist - and depending on your age, you are not even aware of that or consciously trying to gaslight with your statement.
The campaigns of identity politics in German media, corporations, cultural institutions and sports are ENDLESS.
So really none of your points really makes sense.
But feel free to prove me wrong with concrete examples!

I think there is a lot of value in the mainstream news, for example I think channel 4 news is very good in terms of its reporting. However, you need to be able to put it into context when watching and understand its biases and the things it will never talk about. As long as you can do that, you can engage with mainstream news and take value from it. It requires some 'active listening' rather than just accepting what it being said, of course. Turning wholesale away from mainstream news often leads to people becoming overly cynical to the point they end up essentially being naively contrarion and will write off anything reported in mainstream news without any consideration.

My wife is from Liverpool and her family now lives in Southport. She was obviously devastated by this. There was a moment we thought her nephew could have been attacked. It's similarly upset her how the media seems to have forgotten about the stabbing victims and addressing the cause of the attack. The idea that the riots were due to outside agitators, or that protesters or even rioters were EDL members, has been patently absurd to us, but it's eaten up by people in the south who see anyone from Liverpool or Merseyside as a chav or "thug." Austerity measures, followed by Ukraine, followed by utility bills (privatised and the profits offshored) going through the roof, finally a cost of living crisis.
This has created a deep simmering resentment and anger that is easy for racists to deliberately wind up. Before ANY of the other police brutality stories, before Treyvon Martin, Kelly Thomas was beaten to death for 10 minutes by police who provoked the confrontation, and it was all caught on video but the refused to release to video for months. My leftists/communist associates we shocked how little their leaders and activists cared. It was only the libertarian RIGHT that reported on and covered the developments. Why? "Ethnic nationalism" is redundant, "civic nationalism" is an oxymoron; this is the etymology of the word "nation":
    c. 1300, nacioun, "a race of people, large group of people with common ancestry and language," from Old French nacion "birth, rank; descendants, relatives; country, homeland" (12c.) and directly from Latin nationem (nominative natio) "birth, origin; breed, stock, kind, species; race of people, tribe..." England is called England because it's the land of the Angles, Scotland is the land of the Scots, Finland is the land of the Finns, etc.
The attempt to replace nation-states with mass-migrated, deracinated, multicultural (really, cultureless) purely economic zones is responsible for the chaos.

The Nazis were also Socialists, Modernists, Pro Industrialisation, drivers of German vehicles and also Germans, must we therefore condemn all these categories (& more) of people that they can be included in?
Have you not heard of this thing called Communism and what the regimes self identified as such did (before the Nazis even existed let alone had power) and with whom our supposedly Liberal regimes in the West preferred to support & ally, despite already having a proven track record of the worst atrocities in modern history (unlike the 3rd Reich at the time of choosing)?
Ethnic Nationalism is not a category of moral evil as you have portrayed it, (akin to violence & rape apparently) but, like forceful action & sexual relations it can be applied in a variety of ways and judged in an Aristotelian way for where the mean & extremes are & debated as to where the boundaries are.
Put bluntly the key question is whether you think it is a moral evil for the families of the native nations of the UK (or the British Isles, or Europe, or anywhere), to have a natural right Not to be undemocratically swamped & minoritised in their own homeland & their childrens' heritage & ancestors' posterity destroyed?
FYI : By the demographic reporting of the schools of their student body ethnic composition there has been a solid 1% shift from natives to those of foreign extraction for a long time, such that the threshold of native minoritisation in the English schooling system is just 10-11 years away.
In 2010 Oxford's Emeritus Professor of Demography wrote an article detailing that, basis the then rates of population change through births, deaths & migration, the UK would become 'Majority Minority' by 2066.
This was not the date for the English in England, which as the primary destination & continued place of residence of people of foreign extraction would occur much sooner in any case & since 2010 the native death rate has risen, birth rates declined & migration rates rocketed, so English minoritisation in England is a mere 2-3 decades away due to demographic policies not only never proposed, let alone voted for.

The UK Government have failed terribly at understanding how to respond and react to any of this and the way the UK politicians have responded to this has honestly made this entire situation so much worse. How has it become such an awful thing to even consider the thought (that it might be a good idea to calm down on immigration and "asylum seekers" Especially once a nation starts to CLEARLY see issues develop. One of the biggest issues right now that's occurring in the UK and the USA is the people who are born & raised there are deeply struggling to get by but no one is doing anything about it. While at the same time seeing that their nation is providing anyone who shows up from somewhere else with whatever amenities that they need to get by. All while those individuals aren't required to work. Where the people who were born & raised here in no way get similar treatment. In fact they get the gross opposite type of treatment as that and the government thinks nothing will come from that? That someone could only be frustrated by that if they are racist? That is where the UK government and the American government are terribly wrong)
People are frustrated with how much they struggle to get by nowadays.
Sidenote related to current UK & American refugee situations. Anyone on any side should be arrested if they break the law, that shouldn't even have to be said? This isn't about "racism" even tho the UK politicians & media are dead set on that being the reason.. the UK people have been multicultural forever. The American people have been multicultural forever as well. This is the government failing so much. The government is failing to take care of their own people & now they are hyper focusing on these hot button talking points, arresting people for social media comments? They should have come out and made it clear that they will treat anyone from any side with equal response if that person breaks the law but they didn't do that. They have instead come out and publicly stated that they are only considering one side as the bad guys and will only punish one side. How do they think that won't create WAY more division than what little might already have existed??
It's actually insane how much the government & media is coming at this like anyone who is stressed is racist.. Most people are not racist at all and have lived in a multicultural environment most of all their lives and were raised to accept anyone of any backgrounds as long as they are a decent person.. This crap is absolutely Absurd with how many people are so easily convinced a person is racist, or a white person isn't a good person (it's definitely not just because they are white. No way. Totally couldn't be about that)
It's the weirdest thing that we are seeing such a psychotic shift in society right now.. (How hard is it to base our judgment off of: Are they a decent person? Is this a good idea?) lastly, we must stop this guilt trip of people for things that have happened outside of a person's lifetime. A person should be judged based off of how THEY have lived THEIR life. Everything else is out of everyone's control...

Stay safe Rob, both with respect to migrant violence and the accelerating suveillance-police state. The British government apppears to be taking the INGSOC (English socialism) approach to crackdown on native populations and suppress the realities of their victimization by foreign religious-ethnic organized crime groups.
Rotterdam was revelatory, and the recent riots are basically regime supported. The fact is you are being held to extremely stringent speech standards by your government while the most severe crimes and open calls to violence and hatred by protected minority groups against the native populations are treated with kids gloves, apologized for, and receive light prosecutions. They perform coverup for them as parallel societies balkanize the cities and nativist self-defense and ability to call them out and police them is vigorously chastised.
It's the beginning of an intensifying subjugation process to denationalize the native populations while foreigners are imported to prop up a regime that hollows the country out in every sense and encroaches on private life, freedom of thought in academia, and other domains more and more.
Do not underestimate the danger that is unfolding for you and your countrymen. It hurts to accept, but the protection racket that shields the foreign organized crime that is growing in Britain and preying upon the natives while they are forced into silence as the country becomes ever more dysfunctional. Your elites would rather rule in the hell of a crumbling Britain than relinquish the basic premises of their power.
Many of the new arrivals don't love Britain. It's not their homeland. They resent its history and people. They will keep voting for personal identitarian benefits, and the government will continue increasing their population and power to numerically drown out political opposition to this disintegration process.
The elites don't love Britain, they don't love you, they fear you and do not want you and your countrymen to feel brave or gain a spirit of resistance. Please take care, love your videos. I fear for Britain, and I hope her historic populations realize they can't win a game that is being played on *radically* different rules by those who regard you as an adversary even if you do not regard them in that same way.

You make some strange assumptions here along with some good points. In the introduction you refer to the killer as a terrorist despite admitting at the end that there is no evidence yet that he is a terrorist and the police having said explicitly that he isn't. And you say that because these were crimes against children they led to protests. Wrong: if someone kills children it's horrifying but unless this is tied to some sociopolitical thing there is nothing to protest about. You might have a vigil to express support for the bereaved. This was not that. You're missing out a key step: with zero evidence, rightwing figures tried to tie the killings to immigration. As you say, the media and politicians on all sides have for decades stoked anxiety about immigration. If nobody had built up a false narrative of this case, taking advantage of an information vacuum, there would have been nothing to riot about. Am I wrong?

    • @collativelearning
      @collativelearning 22 дні тому +1

Yes, you're wrong. I didn't say he was a terrorist. I explained several times in the vid that he MIGHT be a terrorist, but that his motives haven't been brought to light yet. And that the police saying he isn't doesn't prove anything as the police have lied before about grooming gangs etc. The fact these were attacks on kids (combined with the long term frustrations and lies from goivernment outlined in the vid) definitely was the major motive for the demos and riots. It's not some organized "far fright" conspiracy. The government IS the "far right" they claim to oppose - they ran the racist war on terror etc. The arrests so far are virtually all drunken thug types, theft opportunists, even passersby in the street who just got swept up in the anti-authoritarian angst etc. The southport arrests were pretty much all locals. The media claims it was all conducted by "right wing figures", but that's a lie. In fact the media encouraged the riots and violence by announcing there are going to be protests in particular cities, which in turn makes protestors show up to take part and encourages their opposition protestors to show up and get into conflict with them, ensuring that even initially peaceful protests become violent. It's effectively engineered violence and is being used for a new push against free speech - it's the New War On Terror. The media also encouraged crime by announcing the police were overwhelmed. Thieves and vandals with no interest in the southport event then take advantage.

Something which wasn't addressed in the comments, yet is perhaps warranted given the asinine ideologies espoused in them, is that ostracizing any worldview or opinion that goes at all against the authorities promoted narrative necessarily ends up radicalizing anyone who isn't entirely in-sync with said narrative.
In regards to your United Kingdom, what this means is that anyone who is a civic nationalist, anyone who is a traditionalist in any facet of their lives, or really, anyone who believes in equality before the law, ends up bundled together with BNP and all of its offshoot groups. The selective and discriminatory application of state institutes towards populations based on their different cultures or phenotypes is against liberalism, humanism, democracy, and equality before the law. Yet, speaking against it labels one as if they were the power-hungry authoritarian, rather than the authorities themselves in a society that despite the enlightenment, and despite the horrors of two world wars, to this outside observer, never truly denounced its classist segregated structure.

37:59 so far as I can tell, the EDL "exists" in the minds of the people, who need it to exist to justify their actions. Perhaps some parallels to be drawn here between the "red scare", of the McCarthy era in US politics. Like a magician forcing a card, the government selects the events they want to respond to because it allows them to pursue the policies they wish to implement (but know that without these events, they would be pushed back on). In other circumstances, they draw upon a raft of excuses to explain why they can't react. Not enough police, full prisons, community tensions and lack of funds. Recent events, and the speed with which the government has been able to act, exposes this to all. But many of us knew this from the banking crisis, the moment their friends the bankers needed bailing out, there was enough money to do it. There was no such bailout for the miners and steelworkers after their industries were destroyed, those communities were left to rot. We are just now entering the endgame for a political paradigm that was set in motion half a century ago. It is up to those in charge to determine if they go quietly or the working class have to perform a modern version of the events of 1381 - which everyone will regret.

If it inevitably leads to conflict then yes, Getting people to fight about mostly fake racial inequalities to distract from the very real wealth inequalities is one reason to push it. But I think another major reason is to prepare people for immigration, which is the only viable strategy they have found to prevent the population collapse that results from the comforts (and discomforts) of modernity. However, Both of these theories suggest an authority capable of foresight and reason to a level I’m just not capable of granting them. Things happen as they happen, and fall apart as they do; the people who try to pick up the pieces think they’ll get to put it all back together, but it was never together to begin with.

I watched and 'liked' your video, although I don't agree entirely, because I appreciate you stating your opinion as a citizen and the fact that you are in the spot where this is happening, so I hope others see it.
I just wish you had the same appreciation for other people's opinions instead of taking pride in creating echo chambers and talking to your audience like you are above them.
It's difficult to reply to your take because you touch on a series of events that while perhaps have had a domino effect or worked in tandem in some sense, are not identical, in my opinion.
To reply overall, I think you have a lot of circa post-911 talking points (many Gen X/Millennials do, even great journalists like Abby Martin) and judge present events with that same Y2K mindset, while at the same time you seem to defend them with the "don't trigger me" attitudes of today.
While you reiterate that you are middle of the road, it seems to me you promote an extreme (thought not extremist) attitude where everything is a lie created by the gov and held up by MSM, and in reality it's all kumbaya if we just ignore it.
One thing that I think applies to a lot of what you are saying is that, 2 things can be true at the same time:
e.g. in regards to The War on Terror you mention:
Did certain elements of US gov have a vested interest in creating an excuse to start wars in the middle east? Yes.
Did they trigger events for it to happen? Yes.
Does that mean that otherwise isla mic countries WOULD NEVER create extremist groups and all mu slims that have been displaced to (not to say spread around) western countries due to these triggered events, are perfect little angels and an asset to the west??
    Absolutely not.
You think middle ground will keep you safe but it won't.
Many people are stuck in calling out the inaccuracies in the official narrative around 911 when we are entering chapter 2 of a technocratic surveillance state... and for that system to be fully installed and functioning, a lot of chaos needs to happen. Chaos that the majority of the masses have no issue taking part in. It's not just an issue of those "planted" by the system and pointing out obvious lies in the media.
If this was not made clear by all the events that transpired in 2020, I don't know what will do it.

For years I had a deep respect for your content on filmmaking and analysis. I love critical thinking and unbiased views. I haven't watched in a looong - long while. I forgot your name and I been searching for a good four years for you. To find this randomly and for you to speak on this subject has also garnered my respect for you once more. Thank you. Much love from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA.
