[UPDATE AUG 2024 - and answers to common questions] Great to see so many of you here have benefited from the tips offered in this vid, with some reporting massive long term improvements spanning two years! Am really glad for you all. Just be sure to inform and help others too - share this vid with them too. RECURRENCE OF REFLUX? Lots of you have asked how I've been getting on. My acid reflux symptoms are pretty much non-existent. I still follow most of the advice given in this vid, but allow myself a day or two here and there of eating whatever I feel like, but still almost totally avoid sugar, cheddar cheese, and if I do eat bread it's usually sourdough, which doesn't cause bad reactions for me. I have one or two reflux flare ups a year at most, each resolving within a day or two. And when I do have them they're not very bad. Just today I went out for a family meal - ate a very spicy Indian curry, overate actually as it's my birthday, and had no reflux from it at all. Years ago this would have guaranteed a major flare up that would take at least a week to recover from. OTHER HEALTH ISSUES & ADDITIONAL STOMACH HEALING TIPS On the other hand I did end up having two other major digestion related problems of a different kind and have resolved both of those, as well as resolving a longterm chronic sinus infection issue which was related to the digestion problems. In early 2023 I went through a phase of terrible chest pains and heart palpitations. Doctors could find no evidence of a heart condition. After an exhaustive effort on both my part and from doctors it turned out I had gotten a stomach ulcer and was getting gallstones (including stones in the liver and pancreas) all at the same time - extremely painful. The combo meant the symptoms were all over the place, but I tested consistently negative for h pylori. The ulcer seemed to have been brought on by antibiotics for my sinus infections and the gallstones appear to be just part of ageing, as I'm over 50 now. I sorted the ulcer out mostly by eating chicken bone broth (slow cooked for over 10 hrs) thanks to excellent advice from my girlfriend. Bone broth has amazing healing properties for the gut. I recommend you all give it a try. The gallstones I resolved by sticking more strictly to the dietary advice in this vid (I'd gotten quite lazy on this at the time), but also found a good quality magnesium supplement really helped break down the stones and is good for the heart too. Magnesium breaks down calcium stones and calcium in the walls of the arteries. Also useful for the gallstones was a combo of fasting and drinking lots of water to flush the stones out. They seem to flush out better when the organs aren't burdened with digestive activity. I hardly get the gallstones now. In fact fasting does wonders for the whole system - last month I did a four day stretch of nothing but water and it felt amazing (learn to do short fasts first of 14-18 hrs and build up from there). To my surprise my sleeping patterns were excellent while doing the long fasts - no grogginess inmorning and only needed 5-6 hrs sleep a night. The sinus infection thing was more of a challenge. My sinus biome was imbalanced because antibiotics had killed of most of the good bacteria, allowing a fungal infection to set in. For this I did a very strict candida diet for one month (zero sugar, carbs, starch, which also means no fruit at all) combined with using a lot of garlic and oregano oil to kill of the fungal infection. Within days the fungal infection massively reduced. But to prevent the fungal infection returning I searched high and low for a way to repopulate the sinus biome with good bacteria. The only product I could find for this was a little known product called Kimchi Powder (expensive, though Kimchi juice works too) thanks to a Japanese researcher whose family sufered chronic sinus problems. I used cotton buds to gently apply this inside the nostrils - only needed to do it three or four times. Combined with candida diet it seems to have fixed the problem and I've had no sinus infection flares ups for about six months. So overall that's three more health problems resolved! MASTIKA SOURCES AND DOSAGE For those asking which brand of Mastika I used it's this one www.amazon.co.uk/Mastika-250mg-Mastic-Gum-Capsules/dp/B002E2QNQ2 I don't know if the Mastic Gum works better. I did use it for a while but most of my symptoms had already been cleared up so wasn't a workable comparison. For those asking if they are safe to take mastika even if they don't have H Pylori - to my knowledge it's ok. I've found no science studies stating otherwise. It's also freely available over the counter without prescription and isn't just used for H Pylori.
Quick-notes -Mastika Gum -Salad rocket (also known as Arugula, Rucola, Roquette) -take all foods that cause flareups out of diet for 3 months -oily fish, baked potatoes -allow meals to cool for 5 minutes before eating -eat smaller meals -eat slower to reduce pressure on oesophagus
Wheat, rice, banana, beer, crisps. All cause heartburn/reflux in me. Funny I was telling my wife in the car this morning that my heartburn was killing me. Haven't searched it in a long time, but your video popped up as a recommendation. They are definitely listening...
Thanks so much, Rob. I'll do my best to follow your lead. Sweets are hard for me to give up entirely but I will try. You're kindness in sharing the secrets to your success is very much appreciated. Gigi
Sugar is a poison to the body. If you can start thinking about how you're poisoning yourself perhaps it will change your desire for it. Unless you're having a small amount in whole foods such as a few berries or squash which is a fruit. I stopped all processed/added sugars to cure a long-term whole body Candida.
in a nutshel, 1 capsule of mastica gum taken 4x a day , every 8 hours, for ca 6 weeks solved the stomach pain/heartburn problem, it worked better when powder was removed from the capsule and swallowed with some water, all of it combined with particular dietary/lifestyle changes resulted in getting rid of the acid reflux problem permanently. thank you for sharing your experience, will give it a try.
I took the capsule 💊 casing only and put it in a glass of water just to see what happened. It wasn’t dissolved fully after several weeks - still a lot of residue left - no wonder the capsule casings are not really good for you anyway imo
50 years of eating like you described I now am paying for it, thought my Great Grandma was just being bossy telling me to slow down when I was a kid but now I know. Thank you for doing this video it was very helpful.❤ Saved me from medical bills that I would have accrued just to find out what you shared for free. Thank you again.
Rob You have done a magnificent job. Here there are few points to elucidate in physiology and anatomy of the esosophagus and stomach the abnormalities relevant to the discussiong around GERD. This is not a medical advice. Everybody should consult with their doctor. 1. Helicobacter Pylori is everywhere in our house hold it contaminate our dishes and utensils we eat with: solution use automatic dish washer on the steam mode would most likely kill helicobacters. This would reduce the chance of reinfection after being cured. 2. There could be a genetic factor of susceptibility in few families of us such as having wide and loose eosophegial sphincter with or without poor lining mucosa of the stomach (such as thin mucous lining of the stomach). 2. One question; why when we lay down, we get acid reflux for that some people tilt their bed high so they can sleep at night reduced acid reflex. For the same reason, you expressed eating smaller meals help reduce acid reflux. Answer: Perhaps, this would reduce the mechanical backward pressure on the esophageal sphincter from food build up in the stomach. There are few things to understand in the anatomy of the connection between the stomach and the esophagus. By design the sphincter muscle at the connection between the esophagus and stomach is a week sphincter. It is not a tight sphincter, if you compare it to the anal sphincter at the anus which is a very strong sphincter. For this reason, some people may benefit from surgeries that would be done to adjust the esophageal sphincter diameter. 3. There are few studies published the utility Mastica to ease stomach pain and suggestive of suppressing helecobacter in the stomach. You have noticed that during shewing Masitca gum, it is a little bitter ( meaning alkaline). There could other important active compounds in Mastica that need to be studied. 4. The use of Bicarbonate, Mastica, and alkaline vegetables help reduce acidity in the stomach and therefore less acid feedback to the esophagus and therefore more comfortable feeling. Contrary to this what happen if we eat tomato or pizza with tomato sauce. These acidic and accentuate GRD discomfort. 4. What about the concept of benefiting from using spices such as ginger, turmeric, and Curcumin, On the surface there could be an enhancement of the protective layer (the slimy lining of the stomach) of the stomach through a pathway yet to be identified. To my observation, folks from India start eating spices since childhood. So the question would be; do they have better and more resilient stomach. 5. Helicobacter strategy of survival in the lining of the stomach is to evade the aggressive and very acidic stomach juice ( which is about loaded with hydrochloric acid). It is a powerful killer of bacteria. So the helicobacter generate ammonia to make it more alkaline in the stomach lining so it would protect itself from being killed. This is the same natural mechanism the stomach lining protects itself with from self digestion by the acid present in the stomach. 6. Where is the caveat of using Clarithromycin, and metronidazole (both are antibiotics) together with a PPI such as omeprazole ( to protect from hyperacidity in the stomach and overflow to the esophagus). This is a very harsh treatment and it can be responsible for complete eradication of the beneficial bacteria in the guts. I am in doubt that probiotics would a reasonable compensatory normalization of the bacterial population in the gut. 7. So what is the solution? A. Should we invent a vaccine against helicobacter since half of the population of the world is infect with it. B. How we can the make the environment of the stomach hostile to helicobacter invasion of the lining of the stomach, and why helecobacter chooses the lining of the stomach to live in while living by hostile volcano of hydrochloric acid showering on it. Helecobacter do not invade other parts of the body. Why not?
Wow This post deserves 6 stars 🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️. What a comprehensive explanation. Thank you so much. Large indian community will benefit due to ref if spices mentioned. Thanks👌🙏🙏🙏👍
Good advice Rob. To anyone suffering from acid reflux should definitely avoid PPI's. It is a misconception that you have too much acid....you actually don't have enough. When there isn't enough acid in the stomach, the esophageal sphincter becomes loose and that is what causes the reflux. Using a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) eliminates what acid you do have and thus stops you from absorbing vitamins and minerals. Instead, use apple cider vinegar half an hour before you eat. 1 tablespoon in full glass of water and drink using a straw otherwise it will take the enamel off you teeth. Trust me this works. I used to suffer with both acid reflux and chronic burping. Both gone using ACV. If you still have reflux, try lowering the dose of the ACV to half a teaspoon or dilute it more.
Yes , Mastic Gum really works. I had the same problem and I ordered the mastic gum from amazon. What I also did was used pro biotics to replaced the good and bad bacteria that was killed while getting rid of the hpylori bacteria. Changing your diet is very helpful.
Hi I have a question how did you kill your h.pylori? And how long did it take? I’ve had stomach pain like burning feeling along with chest pain. But also have anemia and low vitamin D I heard iron levels worsens acid reflux?should I take it?
Thank You, thank you, thank you. I suffer terrible reflux and 2 of my children are now suffering it... I will certainly put these practices into place for our family. Thank You.
You are a star Rob for taking the trouble & time to share such valuable information for some of us. Very well thought out and communicated. Can’t thank you enough
Possibly life changing. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Acid reflux has dogged me around for over 30 years. I’ll be following this from tomorrow. Thanks again.
Great video Rob! I recently was diagnosed with H. pylori and learned that it creates low stomach acid which then can cause acid reflux. I’m getting ready to grow my own broccoli sprouts as I understand those are very powerful against H. pylori. Also I found it incredibly helpful to stop drinking anything a half an hour before to a half an hour after meals (and not during). That way the stomach acid doesn’t get diluted. It’s helped a lot!
Great. I've noticed brocolli has a very good effect on my stomach too. Yur point about not diluting stomach acid before eating is excellent. I hadn't even considered that. I think I habitually tend to drink about just meals, but might extend that to at least a half hour after so as not to interfere with digestion post-eating.
Pretty amazing. Stomach acid, even if you vomit enough, chemically burns/irritates the tissue it comes in contact as it's rising up. My acid reflux mysteriously went away (for now), but I remember the first time I was awakened by it in the middle of the night--it was this intense burning trying, as if I'd swallowed battery acid, and it was coming up almost pressurized. I'm going to remember the mastika if it comes back. What surprised me wasn't just the burning, it was how forceful it was pushing up.
My reflux was so bad years ago I had the Acid Reflux Repair, known as Nissen Flundipication...it worked well but took me months and months to get over the operation, I had strained muscles and pain...I cannot live without the PPIs now, I have a shot of Gaviscon every night before bed, 30 years on. I avoid alcohol otherwise it all kicks off. Had HPylori 3 times!!! My history was I had my Gall bladder removed in 1988, then developed IBS, had histerectomy in 1992, terrible reaction to anaesthetic, lots n lots of acid had the NF op in 1994. always suffered with my guts since ...wow is me. Thanks Rob, very interesting clip. And lovely to hear a fellow Scousers voice...I've subscribed. 👍
The gulping and speed eating is terribly hard on digestion. Ingesting half eaten food is a killer. Glad you finally mentioned it, I think its probably the worst offender on your list. Thanks for sharing, you've probably saved me weeks of trial and error. Personally I don't have obvious reflux, but fatigue and brain fog are huge symptoms of H Pylori and unbalanced guts.
Thank you so much for this. I have suffered of acid reflux each time wore for last 6 years and it has modified my life. I cannot wait to begin this diet. Thank you!
Great vid. Doctors always prescribe meds for excessive stomach acid, but they never seem to test properly for what the stomach is actually doing. It's really hard to tell if you have excess stomach acid, too little, SIBO, or the H-Pylori.
Update: Mastika in its gum form has proven the most effective for me yet. The chewing benefits dental hygiene as well. Then you can swallow the gum (make it into a small ball first and wash down with water to avoid choking). It continues its action in the stomach and (hypothesis) might physically patch ulcers for some hours before the acid eats it. The fight goes on, but there has been tremendous progress.
EXCELLENT VIDEO The eating hot food and drinking boiling hot drinks is something I do, I always wondered if it was burning the lining of my throat and stomach... While watching this video I immediately put down my plate of food and i'm leaving it to cool for a bit and I added cold water to my hot beverage. I absolutely love Salad Rocket, thanks for the inspiration and excellent advice, I wish GP's were more relaxed and explanatory like you are.
Hi Rob Came across ur video today, Friday, 23rd Feb 24. What a great sensible approach to my nemesis. I've watched countless vids on acid reflux gerd h pylori, but yours is by far the most comprehensive advice that I have come across. I'm putting ur advice into practice today. Thank you so much. I have ongoing problems, which are turning into Barrets...I hope I have not left it too late. Thanks again. ❤
Thank you so much Rob for taking time to tell us about this, I've never heard of this before, but I followed your advice. My GERD was gone after two weeks of taking mastica, my mother cured hers in a week. She had a stomach endoscopy as part of her check up recently, the doctor couldn't believe her eyes - stomach lining erosion was completely gone. Truly magical effects.
I was diagnosed with pylori a week ago and while I was watching tv I open my UA-cam channel, this came up and ordered the Mastik gum right away. Can’t wait to try it. Thank you.
Used to have massive chest pain which i would go to hospital thinking i was having a heart attack, reflux stress does weird stuff to your body, I have barrett's oesophagus and regular gastroscopy's, also had nissin fundoplication surgery which i feel saved my life. I avoided the PPI medication, long term usage apparently is not good! If you suffer from reflux/GERD, Rob's advice is really good, diet can have a huge effect. Other things i thought were ok but were not, peppermint anything (tea etc) and anything citric ( lemon lime oranges etc) but kicking alcohol, chocolate etc can be tough, also losing weight can make difference for some people, which is a great side effect of the diet changes he talks about. Best of luck to those suffering!
Hey! I experienced chest pain too, thought i was having a heart attack, didn't eat a full 4 days because couldn't take in even a teaspoon of water...my luck it was a long holiday weekend..and I didn't want to make more hospital bills lololol so I suffered it out till i could get to gastro doc that Tuesday. Anyway I have hiatal hernia and Barrett's, not sure now if it has progressed after endo 2 years ago, then he said it was beginning, but I talked my doc into letting me do another now in Sept 24, next week actually, instead of next year..because I have had extreme acid and severe inflammation in esophageal area i can actually feel the heat just touching the area. Crazy right! I am simply petrified to know if I progressed...ugh. So let me ask you, Nissin Fundoplication surgery, is that where they fix the hiatal hernia wrapping part of stomach around it. Was it painful after and was it a slow recovery or fairly fast? Also how long has it been now since u did it...if that is what u did? I heard the hernia surgery can fail and have to be redone...I guess because it gets messed up over time by acid...not real sure, but..my gastro doc isn't fond of that surgery, he said it has a lot of complications and they don't like doing it...well, hahah hate to tell him, but he won't be the one touching me for that surgery. Do u go to a special gastro doc for that, or a center, or did your regular gastro doctor do it? Thanks a bunch...!! And best wishes to you!! Hope to hear back from you.
@@boe1956 Hey, Yes, the surgery is they wrap the stomach around the oesophagus, using some sort of clips to keep it in place, i also had a minor minor hernia which they fixed while doing the other procedure but i don't think the reflux was related to the hernia. its been 3 years since the operation not super painful, just sore for a few weeks, i think there was 5 incisions for key hole surgery about an inch long, the esophagus was tight to start with, having to chew food really well, small mouthfuls other wise food would get stuck/ eat over cooked vegetables so really soft but it does end up stretching allowing you to eat normally. I did read where people who have had the procedure have trouble throwing up/vomiting, i haven't had to try yet! I guess there's risk with any surgery but i was willing to take any risk to get it fixed, I was desperate.. my reflux is not completely gone, probably 90% better, and would have it done again tomorrow, I would say mine is successful. I'm in Australia so sounds like a different healthcare system to you, Sorry i can't remember the correct name for type of surgeon, certainly a specialist of sorts, i have gastroscopy every 2 years to keep an eye on the Barretts, making sure it doesn't have any changes, you're better knowing and keeping on top of it than leave it and get worse..... they say a lot of foods cause reflux, chocolate, alcohol, meat, peppermint, garlic etc look up a list and try and avoid those things if possible, eat smaller amounts, eat earlier at least 3 hours before you lay down, everything helps. best of luck..
Very helpful vid...I wish I had discovered it two years ago. Mastica was just ordered for a try. Now I just cured the problem recently by identifying the triggers as you did. Indeed top of the list was pizza and pastry crusts. Time of the last meal was also a factor so I started a routine of eating my last meal before 5 pm with 50/50 results. Alcohol was another suspect so here is what I did. I went on the 16 hour fast routine for two months. Making your first and last meals between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm. Dropped alcohol completely. The results were several. The weight loss was significant and the overall feeling of well being grew as the days past. The stomach issues and re flux also disappeared. Now as long as I stayed with that program I experienced no issues. I loved the routine however not all family members enjoyed it so I fell back into the same rut and bingo the re flux returned. So now I will heed your information here and give this a try. Thank you so much for your research.
Lots of good, sensible advice. For my acid reflux, I also sleep propped up to counteract the effect of gravity on the acid. Not easy for this lifelong tummy sleeper, but it works.
Spicy food indeed helps the immune system! I'm from New Mexico, and am one of many people who swears by green chile (though plenty of others swear by red chile--it's a matter of preference sometimes). When my mum first got her nurse practitioner's license, she had an elderly woman with multiple allergies to medicines come to her with a sinus infection so her prescription was to "go home and eat some of the spiciest green chile stew you can find." It worked! I don't have acid reflux, though my partner does. Apparently his isn't nearly as bad as yours was, though he recognized most of the things you talked about and has already tried some of your suggestions. I think I'm about to start keeping pistachios in the kitchen along with walnuts, raisins, apples, and other healthy snacks, and I'll be gently reminding him more often to really enjoy his meals. Thanks for nudging us in the right direction!
Yes chilli is amazing for sinus infections. Many times if I feel a cold coming on or bit of sinus inflammation - just blast it by eating lots of strong chillis and curries for a few days. Sometimes a single spicy meal can kill off a mild cold.
I’ve always struggled with acid reflux and stomach ulcers, even when I was a teenager, and I have always eaten very quickly. It does make sense that lowering portions will reduce acid reflux, and I have had success with calorie restriction and some fasting. If you think about the entrance to the stomach as any other sphincter, then you realize that by eating huge portions you’re just stretching it out allowing stomach acid and gas to escape.
Also I had to use omeprazole for my ulcers, but nobody should take it long term because it can cause digestion issues and vitamin deficiencies, Rob is right to want to sort things out without the pills
I had nasty reflux a few years back with chest pain. I’d be vomiting stomach acid in the middle of the night. It would be set off especially by hard alcohol, white flour products, oranges, and tomato paste. I got rid of it mainly by cutting out any refined grains, sugars, most processed foods, as well as losing 30 pounds. I find whole flour is fine. I believe part of having a healthy gut is eating high fibre foods generally, which can include whole grains. Fibre acts as a “prebiotic”, meaning that it provides food for your healthy gut bacteria to eat, which helps ward off bad bacteria. My 2 cents anyway.
I've been receiving treatment for a very similar issue for almost a year. No sleep, as when I lie down all I do is cough. Currently only thing that has remedied this is an anti inflammatory inhaler, but as soon as I came off it, back to square one, so doc put me immediately back on it. This is some interesting info Rob, which I'm gonna investigate more, (with advice from medical professionals, as suggested 😀)thank you for sharing your experience good sir.
Until you get the symptoms to ease off, you might try sleeping in a recliner or a wing back chair. I had to do that when I dislocated my shoulder, and it's surprisingly comfortable once you get past the mindset that sleep must be done while lying down.
Great video You didn't mention fasting ... The theory is that If your stomach is empty .. there is nothing for HP to live on and eventually it starves to death (and even intermittent fasting could help weaken the colony of HP in your stomach)
H. Pylori eats stomach lining, not the food in the stomach. Fasting makes it worse because there is no hydrochloric acid while digesting food to kill H. Pylori. I guess I made myself worse by fasting while HP feasted on my body. Don't take my word for it, I am not a doctor or naturopath. Google your questions and research for yourself.
I’m 24 and I’ve started to have just this problem I’ve been struggling for years as well as watching your collective learning content I scrolled down and found this channel and I seriously can’t thank you enough thank you so much
My dr did she told me to take magnesium citrate…3 or 4 times a day , so readcwhere magnesium takes the swelling down and that valve closes (it stays open because it’s swelled)
Thanks Bob for this. I have H. P. And having antibiotics and taking probiotics a couple of hours after. When this course is completed, mastic gum will be my next priority. Just a brilliant talk! 🎉🎉🎉
You are so right! People need to always look at alternatives to medications. A pill is often not the best answer. I am currently being tested for HP, but already trying other things!! Initially raw honey calmed things a bit. Turmeric and ginger also made a big difference. Also, I had to cut way back on sugar and dairy! Ty you have helped so many here.
I've been enjoying your videos for some time now, and was happy to find this one on your channel. My story is that I've been free of PPI reflux meds for 6 weeks now. I was prescribed Omeprazole (Prilosec) about 11 years ago for GERD symptoms, and finally weaned myself off gradually--cutting my daily capsules in half; then into thirds; then finally stopped (Learned about 5 years back that I have both Barrett's Esophagus and a Hiatal Hernia, so was nervous in doing so). Started cutting back on carbs and meal portions a couple of years back, and with the help of stationary cycling and walking, lost about 30 pounds. Just chewing each bite of food thoroughly has helped me greatly...eating smaller portions and not laying down too soon are also key in avoiding painful episodes. Not allowing myself to become ravenously hungry, it's easier to slow down and chew longer (which is great because the flavor of food is more noticeable the longer it lingers on my pallet, and eating is thus now more enjoyable). *When symptoms still occur they usually come at night , almost always while laying in bed--and usually after I've eaten poor food choices during the relatively inactive evening hours. I was urged against using typical ant-acids for treatment because they have aluminum. A 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda in 8oz of warm water, mixed thoroughly, was recommended instead. When occasional symptoms do flare up, I use this, and it produces effective relief of painful pressure by encouraging brief but deep burping; allows me to then sleep on pain-free. Thanks for sharing your testimony!
Good news! Glad to hear that you have some resolution to your health issues and are feeling better. While it may seem counter-intuitive, capsaicin (chili peppers) are used in Latin America and Southeast Asia for ulcers and reflux. They have a strongly antibiotic and antimicrobial action.
Myrtle I wonder why you people are talking nonsense in this chat ... I have been infected twice by h pylori... it’s a very good in adapting to foreign stressors such as antibiotics... current regimens use something called bismuth(which is banned in Europe ) because it’s a very nasty bug ... stop referring to this idiotic people GO SEE A DOCTOR... they no better than this insular people around here.
So glad I stumbled across this video when I am in the middle of my GERD crisis. I sooo needed this. Thank you for such practical information 👏🏽 🙏🏾. I am going to try your advice and am now following you lol
@@robag555 for the first time in a very long time I am able to eat without the alter eating stomach pain that I have been getting. After antibiotic and PPI treatment for H-Pylori I was still having stomach pains after every meal. I got the Mastika the next day after watching your video and I can testify that after about 5 days of taking it the after eating pain got milder and at just about 2 weeks after starting it I have actually got no pain at all after eating😳. I have also eliminated coffee. I dont have a sweet tooth so never had much sugary staff before. Thank you soooo much. I will continue taking Mastika for maybe 2 months and will stop and see how it goes. 🥰
I really appreciate this Rob. I have chronic stomach trouble and I thought it was caused by my fibromyalgia but I do a lot of the things you mentioned and I can change them and get tested for this bacteria. Thank you for posting this.
Hi Rob Thank you for this information, I also did the same Mastic Gum brilliant result I took it for 2 months as nothing else worked. I had a good year then gastritis started again Yet again Mastic Gum was my best friend and changing diet ,eliminated sugars, wheat ,I don't drink , I drank lots of water , Wheat ,rice ,oats,Barley ,have glutens which cause the stomach to flare up. Inflammation in the stomach definitely works if you cut them out . Cutting acidic food is good.Wild rice is good. Veggies, sweet potatoes chicken, herbs excellent choices, thyme and coriander is good too.. it's true if you don't eat healthy it triggers off again. Drink your Luke water after your food, don't drink whilst eating drink after you have eaten Good luck all. Best wishes UK.
Thank you so much for this video 💚 I badly injured my foot during lockdown and was taking large amounts of ibrufen, I ended up with 2 stomach ulcers! I was tested for H pylori but at that time they were waiting to test in bulk so by the time they got around to testing mine the test came back as inconclusive. I was prescribed PPI but the side affects are horrific! Please read up on side affects !!! I treated my stomach ulcers with L. glutamine, cabbage water and organic liquorice root. I still have flair ups and I'm convinced I have H. pylori so I'm definitely going to buy Mastik gum. 🙏🏻
This needs way more views, in my experience and it seems to be a staple of reflux/h.pylori, Alcohol and Non-Skimmed Dairy products are the worst in most cases. Thanks Rob for vlogging your experience, cheers.
Thank you so much for this video it's very informative. I'm suffering from this right now going to start from tomorrow. I hope that I get cured from this pylori and acid reflux.
Acid reflux most likely means low stomach acid. H-pylori lowers or alkaline acid in your stomach to survived. Apple Cider Vinegar mix with water, Betaine HCL, enzymes will help. Besides you need a clean diet, herbs and supplements for h-pylori
Be careful with this. I tried Apple Cider Vinegar for a few days and it made my acid reflux 10x worse. I think this might have been because of an ongoing damage on parts of my stomach and/or esophagus - - this needs to heal first before trying to increase acidity. I will try again at some point in the future. But fornow focusing on healing and killing off the h.pylori after a failed antibiotics treatment of it.
Im currently making cold press celery juice(8 Oz) And cabbage juice(16 Oz) Daily. In addition, im following your advice about taking the mastic powder out of the capsules. So im ingesting 3000 mg of mastic powder daily. To heal my stomach lining im using L-Glutamine and Zinc Carnosine. My diet consists of cooked vegetable soup with chicken broth. Fruit and vegetables. Sometimes i consume brown rice or Oats. So far so good
I’m sorry, I’m from the US and I’m not sure what salad rockets are? Are you referring to like sprouts like broccoli sprouts with sulfurophane? . And what is the mastic gum taken on an empty stomach?
Thank you very much Rob on behalf of many sufferer people! This is simply wonderful! The way you have presented your story and your humanity. That's why good doctors always learn from their patients. Of course, those thinkers out of the box, that hear them in order to learn, so they can help more and more people. Thank you indeed!
Hello from Greece. mastiha comes from the island of Hios and it is the resin of the tree. Here it is sold everywhere ,in the supermarkets , in kiosks on the street. I tried both gum and pills. It does help definitely ..But to me the most it helped is the carnivore diet. I am on it since 3 weeks ,and the acid reflux is over, but still have flair ups. The advice to keep for few months the diet and not hurry going back to previous eating habits is great. I don’t want to stay on carnivore diet alll my life, but it is a great diet! You lose wait as well and you are really never hungry!!! Thank you
think your right I went on Keto for 6 months 2 years ago and noticed my hiatus hernia was not giving me trouble I think carbs is worst thing for me I am going back on keto
I agree with your protocol Rob. I too instinctively up’d the Mastic capsule dosage’s. My homemade protocol was 3 capsules of Mastic (1200mg) 4x’s a day, every 6 hrs. I added (3x’s daily) 8oz Liquorice root tea mixed with 1 TBS Physillum husks, 1 TBS rice bran polishing’s, 1 TBS Sunflower Lecithin Powder, 60 ml Aloe Vera liquid. I take this concoction 90 minutes after the Mastic I also believe in taking cabbage rejuvalac at least twice daily will benefit as well. You are absolutely right about how to eat your meals. Chew, Chew, Chew. Don’t talk during your meals either...Relax. I’ve had bloating issues for most of my life. The above recipe will be necessary for at least 4 months. During this whole time you will find very little desire for food...best to adopt a Keto plan, as you will live mostly off stored body fats which is a good thing. Good luck everyone
You, from your sofa in your living room, talking way more sense than a professor on the subject. I didn't know about the rocket, and thanks for the mastika coz the gum sucks. Manuka honey and porridge ( organic) helps. Porridge draws out the infection. Thanks all the best.
Hi Rob, I came across your video by pure chance and am going to give this a go. I've had gastritis for sometime now, confirmed by endoscopy years ago. The H. Pylori test done at the time of the endoscopy proved negative, but I'm not convinced it was accurate. I tried PPIs, but they didn't really help, so just rely on Gaviscon when it gets really bad. I bought two packets of salad rocket this morning and will get some Mastika too (many thanks for the link.) I also find that certain foods are worse than others, so I try to avoid them where possible. Thank you so much for your in-depth advice. Very helpful indeed.
Look into cabbage juicing! It also gives you lots of energy. I’ve been trying it for 5 days and it seems to be giving some results. Plenty of UA-cams on it.
Thanks for this super chill presentation! I have been suffering with the acid reflux for a while and also I tend to be a worry wart. I've watched quite a few videos about this topic and they just stress me out. They either promise quick fixes, scare the hell out of me, or give me vertigo with all the freaking editing. I feel like you a nice neighbor or cousin just telling me some great advice. I feel so comforted! I'd love to know how you are doing now and if you still live free of acid reflux for the most part. Oh and that last part - holy merde I always drink my drinks super hot and eat food before it has cooled! I have been chewing more and eating more slowly lately but now I will be more mindful of those hot drinks (only tea these days while I heal) and also COLD is a problem! I notice a huge difference when I try to use cold water to take a pill - it literally doesn't work and the pill gets stuck - especially since my esophagus is inflamed and the peristalsis is all out of whack. Oh - and I am remembering times when I had pain in my esophagus from eating too fast, and a HUGE lump of food trying to go down, to where I actually felt it hurting my spine. Oh lord. Thanks so much!
Great job. I had the same problem (perhaps not as intense) but cured it about 90% by cutting coffee and tea out of my diet and not eating late at night.
Thank you so much! The most honest and informative video, without any monetary intentions, to help so many of us suffering. You Gave a few key suggestions that I think might help me. I’ll definitely check back with results. Thank you!
I was diagnosed with H. PYLORI a few months ago. I was prescribed 2 types of strong antibiotics and also Omeprazole, all to be taken for 2 weeks. Really hard going, but it did get rid of the H. PYLORI. Good to know about the mastic gum you mentioned, in case it flares up again. Great video, thanks. 👌
A side effect of coming off PPI's is acid reflux and it can be bad for weeks unfortunately. I had to persever fir a few month but it eventually got better
Thank you Rob. Great video. Five worst foods to have ordered by nastiness. Alcohol, Sugar, Potatoes, Rice/Wheat & Dairy. Even worse if these are processed in a factory. Where preservatives & colorants are added for a longer shelf life and attractiveness. Best five foods to have. Raw Fruits, Raw Vegetables, Nuts & Seeds, Sprouts. Sprouts give maximum bang for the buck and are jam packed with healthy nutrients. All fresh fruits & vegetables should be thoroughly washed and chemical free. Blessings & Warm Regards.
I found your channel because of your Exorcist analysis...and then ironically found you talking about reflux which a problem I've had for about 3 to 4 years. After fixing it with nexium for a good while...it started to reverse the effects because I took it TOO LONG... and it even cause my hair to fall out and some vitamin deficiencies. I got so annoyed about 3 months ago after years of this shit...that I finally tried apple cider vinegar. And after a few days...I've can finally say I've had up to 3 weeks with NO symptoms. Plus I cut carbonated drinks out of my diet. And that's about it. Now I had a stressful day...and it slightly caused it to come back. So I do have to watch my anxiety levels plus drinking water with food...that's a huge thing that makes me sick. But the apple cider vinegar and probiotics helped me alot. I still get it from time to time but I went nearly 3 weeks straight perfect without incident. I'm getting to know myself better and what causes my flare ups
On a side note this may sound contradictory but for those of you who are having issues similarly when you are laying down with stomach acid leaking up aside from treating it with fermented probiotic rich foods you can also use cayenne pepper which relaxes the sphincter in the esophagus allowing it to close properly I once went to a restaurant for wings that were super hot and not long before we got there I have the worst heartburn acid reflux that I have experience in a long time but I bravely went in and ate the red Savina triple Atomic hot wings and it stopped the heartburn entirely I just had to deal with the mouth burn LOL
White flour turns into sugar in your stomache and the H. Pylori loves this! So yes stay away from all refined white flour and foods that come in boxes pasta, crackers, cookies ect. that turns into sugar once digested. 😊
Technically, mastika grows in Greece (Chios), Turkey (Cesme part of Izmir and facing Chios), some part of Syria, and I believe it grows in Palestine/Israel, but Greece and Chios are the most famous for exporting it. I also believe it grows in Morocco even. I buy mine from Chios from Greeks.
I used to get it quite bad in my 20's. I was told to do three things because I didn't want to go down the drug route. 1 was to chew all my food into a paste and mix it well with my saliva. 2 was to sleep with no more than 1 medium pillow and to possibly sleep on a slant so I made a wooden slant board (roughly 10 degrees) which I put under my mattress. 3 was to simply exercise more and avoid alcohol and too much caffeine especially the second half the day. Did all three and it worked great and I don't even use the slant board anymore. I think the alcohol and caffeine consumption cessation was the biggest benefit for me though. Never been a massive drinker, but certainly a Friday Night drinker and always had issues from Saturday sometimes even through to the next Friday. When you make these kinds of changes though you have to be patient and know that it might take a few weeks to even start to have possitive changes.
I've had Hpylori for years but only diagnosed via stool test recently. My current protocol is what I call 'vegetable therapy' focusing a lot on cruciferous vegetables. I want to try mastic gum though
Great video, thank you im suffering about 4 years with this. Had a recent flare up and am going back on antibiotics tomorrow. Will take alot of what you said in board. Thwnk you again.
Thank you this has been some of the best advice that I’ve gotten so far. Before I listen to you, I had actually ordered mastic gum. Be a few days before I get it. Thank you for all your information.
Hi Rob, thanks for this. I've recently been put on Omeprizol (the one you tried to remember at the start of the vid) and my mate's been on it for about 6 years now. We're both only young. I don't think they tested me for Helicobactor but the tests they did for various others came back negative. A useful (and unusual for you, as you said!) video. So thanks v much, will pass on to my pal and we'll see what we can achieve. And yeah, whisky! That was the real killer of drinks to kick it off!
There are 2 tests to diagnose h pylori one is a test where you blow into a bag, you are given a drink, wait 15 minutes & then blow into another bag. Then there is a fecal test. For an ongoing case of h pylori a scope & biopsy of stomach is advised. Test again after 60 days to confirm h pylori is gone, done, finito.
Bread , Pastries , Pasties , Cakes ect are the worse ! I have the exact same problem and any of those kind of foods I stay well clear off ! I found just my cutting them out of my diet and the introduction of More Probiotics worked wonders. Also Cabbage water is very good for the Gut bacteria as it holds critical nutrients and bacteria’s that Support the system. Another good shout is Colostrum grass feed powder form.
[UPDATE AUG 2024 - and answers to common questions]
Great to see so many of you here have benefited from the tips offered in this vid, with some reporting massive long term improvements spanning two years!
OTHER HEALTH ISSUES & ADDITIONAL STOMACH HEALING TIPS
On the other hand I did end up having two other major digestion related problems of a different kind and have resolved both of those, as well as resolving a longterm chronic sinus infection issue which was related to the digestion problems.
MASTIKA SOURCES AND DOSAGE
For those asking which brand of Mastika I used it's this one www.amazon.co.uk/Mastika-250mg-Mastic-Gum-Capsules/dp/B002E2QNQ2 I don't know if the Mastic Gum works better.

Sugar is a poison to the body. If you can start thinking about how you're poisoning yourself perhaps it will change your desire for it. Unless you're having a small amount in whole foods such as a few berries or squash which is a fruit. I stopped all processed/added sugars to cure a long-term whole body Candida.

in a nutshel, 1 capsule of mastica gum taken 4x a day , every 8 hours, for ca 6 weeks solved the stomach pain/heartburn problem, it worked better when powder was removed from the capsule and swallowed with some water,
all of it combined with particular dietary/lifestyle changes resulted in getting rid of the acid reflux problem permanently.
thank you for sharing your experience, will give it a try.
I took the capsule 💊 casing only and put it in a glass of water just to see what happened. It wasn’t dissolved fully after several weeks - still a lot of residue left - no wonder the capsule casings are not really good for you anyway imo

Hi
Excellent, me too!
Thanks👌🙏🙏🙏👍
I've heard they can invade other parts, like the esophagus and the oral cavity, but yeah, the stomach is their main interest
Other parts r alakline ?
What is PPI and ACV, please?

Interesting. Always wondered this. I create too much GERD when drinking too much liquid so I'll try this
True found out that I always used to get it after drinking anything.
Moringa capsules and mastic gum capsules will cure your H pylori
Where to get broccoli seeds for sprouting
What a sincere and interesting cat. We need more you tubers like this.
Wow thanks man. Been fighting with the reflux for almost a year now. The Mastika gum regiment is working. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Excellent. Make sure to use some of the other tips too :)
They are a bunch of protocol following tossers..... We lost all trust in them after their utter stupidity over the past 4 years.

Hi Rob
Came across ur video today, Friday, 23rd Feb 24. What a great sensible approach to my nemesis. I've watched countless vids on acid reflux gerd h pylori, but yours is by far the most comprehensive advice that I have come across. I'm putting ur advice into practice today. Thank you so much. Please keep us updated! We'd like to hear how things are going for you with this approach to gerd.
Thank you so much Rob for taking time to tell us about this, I've never heard of this before, but I followed your advice. How is it going?

This is the most sensible (and most HOPEFUL) approach I’ve come across for dealing with this problem. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤🙏
Sleeping on your back is better apparently for your spine
Indeed, @@robag555! Too bad it's not directly effective against the 'Rona--though it certainly eased the symptoms when I had it last November!

Thanks for taking the time to produce this vid - have the gum on order now.
Hi can you please share the link from where you preferes mastic fim, so i can order? I am trying to buy the right mastic gum.
Did you find that oatmeal was ok?
@@candicedavis2486 Yeah, I eat oatmeal! Sorry for late reply. I never check this lol.
I use a wedge pillow and have my last meal around 6pm it has really helped

You didn't mention fasting ...
The theory is that If your stomach is empty .. there is nothing for HP to live on and eventually it starves to death
(and even intermittent fasting could help weaken the colony of HP in your stomach)
Does the bacteria starves to death or it starts eating our stomach lining and turns ulcer?
@@Elnisk7 exactly

Ty you have helped so many here.
spent a lot of money on high-quality Manuka and turmeric and nothing😔
I wonder if you ever took probiotics to help?
Thank you. This is revelatory and incredibly well-timed… been having some issues recently and this has given me the impetus to get it sorted!
Good news! Glad to hear that you have some resolution to your health issues and are feeling better.
While it may seem counter-intuitive, capsaicin (chili peppers) are used in Latin America and Southeast Asia for ulcers and reflux. They have a strongly antibiotic and antimicrobial action.

Wheat ,rice ,oats,Barley ,have glutens which cause the stomach to flare up.
Inflammation in the stomach definitely works if you cut them out . Cutting acidic food is good.Wild rice is good.
Veggies, sweet potatoes chicken, herbs excellent choices, thyme and coriander is good too.. it's true if you don't eat healthy it triggers off
again. Drink your Luke water after your food, don't drink whilst eating drink after you have eaten
Good luck all.

I've suffered on and off with acid reflux for years, so I'm going to try out some of your techniques. Cheers Rob.
try apple cider and water drink

Do you eat it, like chewing gum?

It sounds like omeprizol is not helping you if you still have symptoms. Best wishes.
