Thank you for the video. I spent 7 days on the island 7 years ago and it is still one of my best and favourite vacations. I remember walking and driving on these streets so watching this video brings back great memories.
I am so thankful for this drive. It drives me nuts that i can’t come back when i want. We have been there in 2017 pre irma and 2019. Its where i really feel peace.
Love this video is very informative. I was just there for 14 days in June. Can't wait to go back. St Maarten is truly Paradise. Shared this video with several friends so they can see what they are missing.. Lovely. Soon come!
This was unexpectedly so helpful! We are going to be staying on the French side (cul de sac) in July - we have been curious about what is around the island, etc. Have you done a driving video on that side as well? I will check the rest of your videos - thanks for such wonderful content, it gets me excited for our trip!
Damn, I miss this place. I'll probably never get over how beautiful the sky is in St. Maarten. I was able to locate Soggy Dollar, Pineaple Pete and many other things! Unfortunately it was not the same route the bus used to take, so I couldn't see that green "Heineken" plane (I believe the buses took Bush road instead of a more direct route. Miss you!
@@mariefortune island life is not for everyone. That’s for sure. And just to be clear we do most certainly have internet. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to do what I do 😉 Have a great day and thanks for watching.
In general how safe is the entire island? I’ve travelled all over the world and spent enough time in dodgy places and I just want to finally have a place to relax and not have to worry about watching my back when I’m walking around in the morning/evening.
I'm traveling back there alone this summer. I felt very safe. I made friends with my driver from my first trip and stuck with him. I didn't have a single issue with anyone while I was there. People mind their business. In the beach area near Roxxy Beach, some people do ask you to buy their items or get a massage, but they were not pushy. The pushy salemens are in Philipsburg, but I think it's because I am a woman & they were big flirts. 😂😂
I took more or less the same exact route, but in reverse when I went to Anguilla for the day. I think the boat for Anguilla departs from Simpson Bay. Had to travel from Oyster Bay to Simpson Bay.
HI I LOVE your videos just found you today lol.. I will be there next year for my birthday most likely on the Dutch side at Oyster Bay Resort or Simpson Bay resort. I was wondering if i should rent a car? Me and my husband plus family loves to explore, or can we do this with local transportation or Uber
My family & I are visiting in a few weeks, staying at the Divi Little Bay resort. We are a pretty big group with 2 little kids (under 6). What is your/anyone's opinion about walking from Divi Little Bay to downtown Philipsburg? Are there sidewalks the whole way? Is it safe, or is it really meant to be just the major thoroughfare for cars?
Great question. The road connecting Divi Little Bay with downtown has a sidewalk but just keep in mind that it is a very busy road, especially the stretch from Divi to the beginning of Front street.
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos. I've been binging them non-stop to properly prepare for my visit to Sint Maarten in December for a friend's wedding (she's a native-born and raised). I'll be renting a car. Do you have any tips on good rental services? What basic traffic laws should visitors be aware of: turn on red (acceptable or not acceptable), side of the road driven, gas prices, the ability to pump your own gas (some areas round the world allow you pump yourself and some don't - tipping pump assistant [common or uncommon]), parking laws, parking styles, tolls? Will Google Maps work while on the island or is it wise to download another navigation service to help with maneuvering around the island? Or for viewers who won't be renting, what are good transportation options and fares? Does Sint Maarten of reliable bus, taxi, uber or Jitney's (if you have these these alt can services). Thank you so much for your videos. I wish other bloggers were this thorough in their presentation. It's a travelers dream! 😁😁
Hi there and thank you so much for watching my videos. Wow, that's a lot of questions. I think you will benefit more from a one-on-one video call with me where we can go over everything. Find out how here: thetravelingislandgirl.com/services/travel-planning/
Driving hints for St Maarten: If the other driver looks like they are going to do something believe it. Scooters and cycles be crazy. If someone honks it either mean 'thanks' or 'go ahead dude got your back'. Unlike the states where it is a comment about the marital status of your parents.

Hi Tony. Not silly at all. You can find most businesses and popular spots on Google maps but private addresses may be a challenge.
