- The Sig 1911 in 22.lr is an awesome pistol that gives you the real feel of the standard 1911. It's ideal for sports/target shooting or primary production / vet / feral pest control for those who have a category h licence for occupational work here in Australia. The Sig is modelled from the GSG 1911 and offers 80% compatibility with standard 1911 parts making it perfect for modifying it to your preference. The manual recommends high velocity ammo only and I confirmed this through my review. Reliability with high velocity ammo with my testing was 100%!

On my sig, the frame rails were over-sprayed with the color of the day and instead of redoing the gun, they let the buyer do it with high-velocity ammo until all that shit wore off. With a little light polishing with compound and a lot of hand racking it runs like a clock with any ammo

The paint brown paint finish wears off really quickly and looks terrible. It generally shoots too high and the sights can be replaced with a set that Nioa sells. Mine jams loaded with 10 but works with 7 perfectly. It's light and feels really toy-like because of the cheap alloy receiver and weak mainspring. I broke the firing pin on mine after 2000 rounds so don't dry fire them.
Aside from all of that, it shoots really well and I like it a lot.
My experience with gsg is that you want to break them in with high velocity but after you get them good and weathered in they do alright with standard velocity.

love the Aussie reviews! One thing I find with your bench top videos is that the camera angle gives me a nauseous feeling. can you put the camera on your side of the bench? its looking way to far over the top of the pistol
No because the camera is on a tripod so if it's angled down at 90 degrees the legs get in the way unfortunately... not a lot i can do

Thanks for the review Ozzie. Just looking to get into handguns and wanting a 1911 style 22 to eventually move on to a 9mm or 38 super. Look like with a little tweaking of the sights that it shoots most ammo well (other then some failure to feed issue). Would you think the issues would clear up over time. If you still have the guns it would be good to see a follow up review.

Oops, just answered my own question. Guess I should've read before I ask. Anyway I've had one for over a year and can't complain about it functionality. The finish is another matter, they should've given it a higher quality finish, at least on the slide.
Yeah the slide is the only negative I've found…

Thanks Mike, try Gold Coast Shooters Supplies as they have Hogue 1911 grips… I got mine from the US but it's a lot to pay for shipping if that's all you're getting in at the time… so my advice would be to see Gold Coast Shooters Supplies here in QLD…
Loved the review as always keep up the good work! Can you compare the Sig out the box to the Colt out the box? Is one better quality than the other?
Each have their strong points… I've already swapped out the grips and upgraded the sights on the sig, but I'm keen to still do a side by side comparison, talk about them out of the box and shoot them side by side with the mods I have made… they are pretty much the same, same aftermarket sights, same grip etc...
Cool that would be great video because I have just done my training and am now in the waiting zone and will be looking to get a .22 pistol later this year.

I got mine in the end brother , I dont mind this pistol , however since purchase and practice it has presented me with a number of stoppages , fail to extract etc , what Ammo would you reccomend for this pistol that will present me with nil stopages? other than the stoppages the pistol is bloody brilliant , what ever you do dont bother trying to run Highland High Velocity , it just fails every time.

***** Have you tried the CCI stingers yet? If you haven't, your going to be in for quite the suprize! .22 pistols(semi-auto's) need a powerful bullet to perform flawless(slide pushback-ejection). And these deliver! They feel like 3X the blast of a regular HV .22 bullet. You will know what I mean when you try them. I stock and use these sparingly as my self defense ammo! The next best bullet is the armcor 36 gr HV hollow point. They are not like the stingers, but still very powerful and clean firing! I NEVER have issues with these bullets! Other CCI, velocitors and mini-mags are good as well, but the cheaper armscor's still outperform them! and they are only $2.99 box of 50. Just thought I'd share my experience trying different .22 bullets. That was using my Sig Mosquito. I have not fired my 1911-22 at the range yet.
Thanks for your feedback, yep I know the stingers well, but usually get varied results with them… Armscor aren't available down here as far as I know...
Seems like Australia like Canada suffers from higher prices. Worse yet, we're right next door to the US. Huh?
Yeah, it does frustrate us a bit but I think our wages are higher here too, not to mention the long haul to send gear to us down here...
