Most pour pots are made of aluminum, probably because it's lightweight and conducts heat well. The black/grey stuff is oxidation caused by high heat and/or aluminum's normal reaction with the mineral content of the water in the double boiler. This happens particularly with non-anodized aluminum, apparently. But you can't melt candle wax with lower temperatures (one suggested solution to prevent aluminum kitchen pots from oxidizing) and you can't double boil without water. LOL Although you COULD clean the black stuff off, it will return the next time you use it in a double boiler. So anyone who double boils will always have the grey film. HOWEVER! If you just use the pour pots for mixing now, since you have the big melters, you can probably clean them off with vinegar and water or lemon juice and water, and they'd stay pretty. Thanks for the vid! I love your videos, even if it's mundane stuff like cleaning your work area. LOL I always learning SOMETHING.

I've used aluminum pot for melting was and my candles got some green shade. Probably because of oxidation. Should I throw them now?( And how to prevent this in the future? Or I shouldn't use those pots at all... Plz help 🙏

I'm in no way a pro like you are but to me it seems like just scraping the harden wax spill with a scraper/putting knife would be faster and easier? Maybe?
I’ve tried doing that and using the heat gun is way more efficient in my opinion 😄

Do you still love Soy #10 wax? I know you’ve said it was a favorite years ago. Just wanted to know.
I usually wash my pour pitchers with soap and hot water and then alcohol. Am I creating too much work on myself?
Personally I think so, plus there will be some leftover residue of wax+FO which isn’t good for pipes. I would say give them heat gun, paper towels and then rubbing alcohol a try and see what you think! ❤️

The rubbing alcohol you use, does it matter what % ?
It’s just the regular rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) at 70% I believe
I find 91% works better.
I find it really doesn’t matter , all % seem to get the job done , I’m just happy it’s available again 😅
