I've noticed the majority of cats no matter the breed know how to say the word "No," very clearly and quickly. Probably because it's a word we tell them most of the time in order to help them learn in what they are and aren't allowed to do. Apart from the word "no,"-the first 1 I heard from my cat was actually "Hello," when neither my mom nor I got up from bed he woke us up at like 5 am as a baby kitten. The more we ignored him, the louder his meows/cries got. He's learned not to wake us up until abt. 6 am or later. But then again, my mom and I have both given in to his scratching/meowing behavior in the mornings too, so it's prob. partially on us. But the thing: He doesn't quit until my mom opens her bedroom door. The only reason it's closed is cuz our dog sleeps w/her and our cat sleeps w/me (sometimes). I've also heard him say the word: "yeah," before and I'm like: "did u just say yeah to me?"
I think people are hearing what they want to hear. The best one was the cat saying cold and asking for a towel. The rest were just cats meowing not actually saying words.
A lot of them are just meows. It reminds me of mothers that say their child said mum for their first word when really they was just uttering random sounds.
