  • Squadron Energy CEO Eva Hanly says Australia’s gas pipeline infrastructure is “extremely congested,” particularly in some areas.
A new energy terminal in Port Kembla is being proposed as a solution to meet Australia’s predicted energy shortfalls by eliminating the cost of transporting gas through already established pipelines between states.
“You need to find another way to get the gas from Queensland to New South Wales and that is where our terminal comes in,” Ms Hanly told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.
“Because we can put the gas on the ship in Queensland and very quickly ship it down into Port Kembla and inject it straight into the east coast gas network.”

The market is crooked; rigged by the big three. Break them up if they won’t comply, or withdraw their licence.

YEAH local FIRST THEN export. NOT OK to export over domestic supply!

"Exporters not behaved in accordance with the spirit of .."
Is that like the "vibe". Need domestic reservation policy agreement like WA has.

Exporters always regularly confuse their transgender pronouns I've heard. They're clearly not up to the job. Perhaps a Woke dystopian mobster like Bowen would know better?

There is no gas shortage except for the ones selling the gas telling you there's a shortage, of they don't need gas then obviously there's no shortage...

So they do "work" treating the gas and converting it into LNG, then ship it to the port, re-gassify it, inject it into the domestic market and expect to be charged some ethereal domestic gas price and not the LNG open market price? Sounds totally fair & reasonable... to nobody.

Liquidation and regasifigation uses perhaps 30% of the energy of the gas.

Are we too poor as a country to build sufficient gas pipeline infrastructure?

@@connorduke4619 nope, but to build a pipeline you typically need at least 1 gas supply at on end and a demand at the other. There has to be some guarantee or contract between the parties in order to get funding. Its not a matter of relative richness. Also you have both NSW and Victoria have effectively shut down any exploration and development of gas.

You can build a facility instead of a ship to degassify.
