I think for young musicians it's important to do both. Learning the notes in their own time without the metronome is essential, but then they need to also learn that when they are finally playing with a band, there's no stopping if you miss a note, you gotta just keep going. For that reason I think that having some practice time with a metronome (and even better a backing track for the song) is crucial for learning how to play with a group.
Your titles are the best thing that ever happend to me.
that's some solid home studio man, it's great to see you prosper, really cool! I won't speak much about your skill because that is obvious, but the gear definitely went up compared to your first vids :)
I like using the metronome at a slow tempo. We tend to rush through music.
I Couldn't agree with you more. I think playing slow makes you really know the music. It serves its purpose Not playing. Sometimes I find myself thinking to much when playing w/a metronome. So I tend to mix it up, But I really try to play w/a "met" 2-3x's a week.

My bass playing has really improved thanks to your videos. I get new content to practice frequently which makes my practice less boring and gets me practicing for longer. Thank you Anthony
Valid points you've made. I think it's best to practice both with and without a metronome. One important aspect of playing with a metronome is in how you use it. As you've pointed out... practice with the metronome on beats 2 and 4, or other beats and combinations. This really gets your timing and groove together!✌😉
Thanks for the video title!
Natural fluctuations are beautiful when you master them.
Very interesting. I watched from start to finish & this definitely helped me figure out the direction I should be going towards in terms of my practice.
Thank you Mr. Muthurajah!
You should do a vídeo about the bassline you played ( orient express ), very interesting line. Great video as always!
I mean, just slow down the metronome and gradually bring it up if it's getting in the way. Also no teacher ever said to me to "ONLY practice with metronome", but rather to "use the metronome in your practice", as in, don't forget to do some time keeping exercises to dust off your groove.
I was literally abput to practice with the metronome when your video notification appeared lmao
Great information, thanks for sharing your view..!!!💯
The actual tip I retain here: learn the notes before trying to play them in time or you'll be sloppy. It's the "if you can sing it you can play it" advice, which is a good one. Thanks for sharing.
The Bach stuff is sounding great
Great video, whats the name of the second piece that you play? the minor one
I think the metronome it's the main reason why new students quit, when presented before they're ready.
I haven't practiced with metronome every time (maybe half the time) and I'm pretty shit. I probably should have used one more TBH
but I get your point n think it's very good, thanks
You can always slow the metronome down if you can’t play the tempo....
Mate can you do me a favour and see if you can download my track from Amazon? I am interested in knowing if it can be got in Dubai. Affirmation by The Soul Guitar Complex . Thanks if you do . Thanks anyway....
Metronomes are great for getting into a time zone but it will flow when playing live . I hated the 80s when everything was drum machine everything but I sort of thank that time a bit for locking me down to tempos . But that quantised waiting around for hours for the computer to work era was rubbish in many ways . I hated most of the music around then ... thank god Art Blakey was still gigging then , Elvin Jones too .
Oh yes.
Bach played to a metronome would be so awful.
The thought of it alone is painful 😂😂😂
I agree with you no metronome, annoying klick ...
With due respect sir The title should be "Why you should not practise with metronome as beginner"
Music is time, tone and silence. If youre neglecting any one of those its no longer music. There is nothing more frustrating than playing with someone who cant keep time. No offense but youre not playing with the metronome very well. Youre very out of sync. Every time you make a mistake you are practicing that mistake and making it part of your skill. Rhythm first people.
......thank you....learn how to play with a real live drummer....a metronome is not a drummer.... all young musicians should watch your video.....
metronome only to make you to be able to play on the beat when you want or when there is a need. But if you always play on the beat you become quantized to much and lose your style.
This is pure bullshit !!! You’re trying make some money out of UA-cam . Period
