Requirements for the best ending are to simply play the game and avoid going into a boss room in Doppler Lab 2, I believe, as Zero. You would probably not know about it because by that point you're trained to not bother going in boss doors as Zero. If you DO go in, you have to fight that boss as Zero and he nearly dies, so he gives X the Z-Saber. The Z-Saber kills EVERY boss in 2 hits, but getting it causes the bad ending.
I never thought of it that way myself. I always thought there was something like a cheat tool since emulators have them built in. I once took TAS plays (in general) as a short cheap way to play a game. Since that was what I thought I kinda hated them but had a new respect for them about a month ago and I REALLY enjoy them now.
I've a question, aren't you supposedly unable to get the gold armor if you install another armor chip? From what I saw, he had the leg one.. Please help me understand, or correct me if I'm wrong..
People!!! Tell me the name of the game on NES! I played it in my childhood! It is a fight game, where the main character goes to the right and kills enemies and at the end fights with the boss! First, he fights on the roof of the train, then inside it. Then at the container depot. I don't remember all of the locations, but among them was a plane, water, a corridor with swimming pools! Please tell!!!!
Can't really compare TAS's and SDA's. SDA is human skill, whereas TAS shows what a run would look like with perfect reflexes. I guess with tons of practice, SDA can get close to TAS with enough segments. TAS is more like an art, can also show off a lot of weird things in a game that may not be so obvious.
- I'll kick your ass, Megaman! *short while after, explosion...* -DAMMIT, I'LL MAKE YOUR SUFFER!! *Exploding again...* - I can't DIE Megaman! And now you're trapped! Mwahahahahha! Mwhahahat... Zero? *Exploding once more...* - ... I'm tired of exploding, god dammit.... Moral of the story: Sucks to be Sigma...
I played the Playstation version with Megaman X Collection on GC, and the game seemed to be a little faster (for example less lag on wall jumpings and such). Am I wrong ? I'd love to see a TAS of the Playstation version anyway :)
He's playing the game. The "tool assisted" part means he's using save states and abusing frames to have super human reaction times, but he's still doing everything manually.
Its a recording of button presses that are applied to the game (as a ROM in an emulator). It isn't exactly a 'program' playing it... rather, a person played this game himself, using save states and playing at frame-by-frame speeds to ensure the maximum performance possible as allowed by the game itself. This is perfection, and completely POSSIBLE to do on the game. Of course, no human has such incredible speed or reaction time.
Wait I'm confused. Didn't you grab all the armor chips AND the Gold armor? I thought you could only get the gold armor if you skip the armor chips. x.X
TAS runs is cheating i guess, but all of this is possible to do in the real game, it's just almost impossible to not make a mistake. the point of a TAS isn't to say "hey look what i did" it's more to see what's possible. and ya theres TAS speedruns because it's possible someone finds a better way to do something.
I'd say both! The only real memorable track in the game is from the opening stage. The rest are quite mediocre, and the instruments sound dull and uninspired. Also, some of the dissonance effects are way overdone and just sound plain bad. But I do agree that the opening stage theme on (emulated) Genesis hardware (the one by geckoyamori, right?) sounds really awesome!
It is a Tool Assisted Speed Run. The player is abusing glitches and using other things to assist their play i.e. slowing down the speed of the game. I doubt the player could pull this off on a regular console. It is really impressive to watch. The player spent a lot of time to learn how the game works.
the true ultimate armor would be to combine all the power ups x gets ever in any game and in lore. Take x 8 ultimate armor give him infinite we energy and add all of the previous armor sets powers to that and add previous boss power ups too and you have ultimate x
knowledge rather than skill, specially in this kind of games that arent as lineal as typical plataformers/action games certainly i give the credit for the huge amount of patience, using savestates alone is boring as hell when you try to go perfect
Dude, The Best ending is Getting Zero's Z-Saber when you kill Bit, Byte than kill Vile in the secret area with Neon Tigers weakness so instead of fighting Vile you fight a stupid insect with Zero. he gets damaged and gives X his Saber
I love TAS speed runs but I have to disagree. Some of the things done are not possible with out the slow motion the emulator provides. I would challenge you to recreate any one of these levels in the entirety as produced in this video.
isn't there a secret teleport to Vile Stage in Crush Crawfish stage. or is it part of getting the Zero's sword which is why it was skipped.. it's been around 3-4 years since I last played X's through.. so my memory is little hazy. =)
Good ending is not supposed to be Doppler kills Sigma? Makes no sense Zero have the antivirus Saber and the later games Sigma is back. Also the Moskito boss fucked up his Buster forcing him to use the Saber more in the next games.
@sn00chies I don't know some of the stuff he does makes me wonder how it did it. I was told on another video that because of the frames rates you can't see if he's blinking or not so I wonder if you can download a video from TAS.
I didn't say that it was easy to make the video. I mean I like to play a game just like it was designed for. Didn't want to detract your work, sorry if you felt like that. PD: Quite some time to post a reply, eh??? :P
Also, though you might not have to be some God to put together a well-done TAS, it still takes a considerable amount of time and patience to put them together. I wouldn't say it's a completely talentless affair.
You shouldve watched the twitch 7 day speedrun funraiser for preventing cancer, Caleb the best megaman X player currently did it live on a super nintendo almost close to the world record so indeed it is possible and doable.
The buster upgrade capsule in Megaman X4 ( the one on the right). It makes the X buster incredibly overpowered. In fact, I'd say X4 had the best upgrades of all. Or maybe its the game itself that makes it seem that way...
Yup, hes cheating, but thats the whole point to TAS. if it makes you feel better its not really considered cheating since hes not really PLAYING the game, rather then telling the emulator what button to press during what frame.
you are wrong, TAS doesnt require skill, just a LOT of patience and time sure not everybody is willing to waste like you said, 30 or 40 hrs on a 1hr video, but if you have that spare time, anyone can do it
So this video shows all bosses in order including capsules, And to obtain this legendary ending you can't get hit on the stage but that doesn't apply to the bosses. Is that just about the jist of it?
Despite how easy he makes it look, i found this to be the hardest of the snes mmx games. heh, due to the final boss of the game, i doubt i'll ever see a no damage tas/speed run of this game :P
This is a "Tool-assisted" speed run, meaning he probably used save stats, and played the game on an amazingly slow frame rate. Don't feel bad. Playing like that is inhumanly impossible lol.
this is a TAS run meaning he did it all at possibly less than 10% speed and repeatedly until he got it all perfect. It could be segmented over months and strung into the video that you see above.
Actually i don't, i like to enjoy the games as they are supposed to be played. I like to see some let's play too ^^. I respect the work they do to make videos like this one, but i like to play "legally".
just for the fastest TAS, a regular one just require to have finish the game at least once and a LOT of patience plus a straightforward game like the megaman games, require much less
outside of the TAS, and the fact he's beating bosses w/o their weakness(i know its possible) but if your going 100%, you shouldnt even have to fight vile in the doppler stages
well technically, getting the saber makes the chronologically correct ending, because of the enemy that damages zero his buster gets damaged and doesnt get repaired till x5
hey nice video can you tell me what happend at 30:11; does it have anything new ? i only regonized blue X into yellow X xD please answer if possible , its interesting for me
This is not the best ending. The best ending is to have defeated Bit, Byte, Vile, the Press Disposer, and Volt Kuragiel. You must also have obtained Zero's Saber.
100%, but it says best ending, because the getting the Z-saber will result in the bad ending with doppler sacrificing himself as Zero is not running with you
pff al principio me costaba mucho trabajo pasar todo hasta conseguir la armadura la sable de zero y la armadura dorada y a lo peor vencer a sigma con la sable de zero
actually I didn't got the Z-Saber. I didn't even fought as Zero. That means I got the best ending, right? btw, sigma was painfully difficult on this game
I want to learn programming. I bet I can create artificial intelligence. Emotions. I have it in theory. Damnit! I have always dreamed of creating Megaman!
Are you serious?? The PSX/Saturn version's versions sucked when compared to the sound on this game. And the remixed music I think we can all live without.
X "Damn. Its a dead end"
Zero: "Why dont you just teleport out, numbnuts!?"
X: "Oh.... right"
I ended up playing this again from the nostalgia lol. Thanks.
at the end it should say... Thanks for Owning this Game like a Boss...
um one question how do you get the best ending anyway
You said it bro.
omg the min 6:39
yah! He hacked or something!?
La Nguyên Bảo Tòng I wonder why nobody ever knows it's a TAS.
***** ooh... My bad!
Ahh... The original SNES version, with the better music and sound effects. Clearly the best version of the game. Good to see it again!!
I like how moth uses EVERY WEAPON during the refight with Catfish.
X: I have defeated all the mavericks and sigma and all I get is a B-Class Promotion?!
-Little that X knew that B stands for Badass- xD
Um, when against Blast Hornet, I go ahead and use his official weakness, Gravity Well, though I do admit it has no rapid fire.
That music when Zero comes in...
Zero saved X's life so many times, from so many people
Elpizo did the impossible XD
Requirements for the best ending are to simply play the game and avoid going into a boss room in Doppler Lab 2, I believe, as Zero. Uhhh I just saw 43:52 minutes of fast ass kicking!!
why the hell there is no delay on the damage of bosses?!
What. What are all those new bosses in Doppler's lab? Why is Vile a boss now? What the heck??
Can't really compare TAS's and SDA's. SDA is human skill, whereas TAS shows what a run would look like with perfect reflexes. I guess with tons of practice, SDA can get close to TAS with enough segments.
TAS is more like an art, can also show off a lot of weird things in a game that may not be so obvious.
i think the best ending is with doc doppler saving x
Is there such an ending?
yes, if you manage to get zero saber, he will be damaged and wont appear at all in the last stage
Is there videos about that in here, and if there os, can you link one :D
- I'll kick your ass, Megaman!
*short while after, explosion...*
-DAMMIT, I'LL MAKE YOUR SUFFER!!
*Exploding again...*
- I can't DIE Megaman! And now you're trapped! Mwahahahahha! Mwhahahat... Zero?
*Exploding once more...*
- ... I'm tired of exploding, god dammit....

Man, I forgot how much better the music and sound effects are in this version of the game compared to the anniversary version.
He's playing the game. The "tool assisted" part means he's using save states and abusing frames to have super human reaction times, but he's still doing everything manually.
The explosion scenes in this game are totally over the top hahaha. BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM
Its a recording of button presses that are applied to the game (as a ROM in an emulator). modified in the game, my grandmother makes too

TAS is not an automated controller, it is a real time play; it allows you to undo any game play that you have messed up from.
cant find megaman x 3 psp eboot with music only ones without music AND MEGAMAN IS IMPOSSIBLE to play without there music :)
you are wrong, TAS doesnt require skill, just a LOT of patience and time

I really do hate this game's Sigma fight. I can beat it with Z-Saber, no problem. I just need to get past Kaiser Sigma.
just for the fastest TAS, a regular one just require to have finish the game at least once and a LOT of patience
plus a straightforward game like the megaman games, require much less

Megaman X Marverick Hunter X (Ville Mode)
Ville vs Zero and X
X say: ''Is over Ville''
Zero say: ''Is finish Ville''
This is not the best ending. The best ending is to have defeated Bit, Byte, Vile, the Press Disposer, and Volt Kuragiel. You must also have obtained Zero's Saber.
100%, but it says best ending, because the getting the Z-saber will result in the bad ending with doppler sacrificing himself as Zero is not running with you
It says best ending, best ending is the one where zero doesn't die, and zero has to die for you to get the sword.
I think the common opinion is there are two ways to 100%, you can either save Zero (best ending) or get the saber.
pff al principio me costaba mucho trabajo pasar todo hasta conseguir la armadura la sable de zero y la armadura dorada y a lo peor vencer a sigma con la sable de zero
actually I didn't got the Z-Saber. I didn't even fought as Zero. That means I got the best ending, right? btw, sigma was painfully difficult on this game
7:26 how are you doing this glytch ? is it like when hes looking left you leave the screen and come back to make him cancel his attack over and over?
I want to learn programming. I bet I can create artificial intelligence. Emotions. I have it in theory. Damnit! I have always dreamed of creating Megaman!
I actually agree with you, Though I think X6 is a Worse Structured game, Megaman X3 was boring on SO many levels, and the music didn't help with that.
But the whole point of a TAS is to show the game pushed to its highest limits... not to take away from real-time speedruns without tool-assistance.
Are you serious?? The PSX/Saturn version's versions sucked when compared to the sound on this game. And the remixed music I think we can all live without.
Nah, X's body was just a shell when Elpizo destroyed it. X was already surviving on his own when it happened.
If you're not slip-n-sliding around during a boss fight, ur doing it wrong. I've believed this for my entire life and this just reaffirms it.
Fucking awesome, I have played the game like a billion times and never noticed such a thing. I salute you.
oh so instead of dopplar saving you its zero well thats actually pretty lame a fight against the virus would have been a way better ending
It's tool assisted, wich means skills and that kind of stuff doesn't matter. So, keep thinking that you are really good at mmx games =)
You are totally wrong, you must know how the game works, and the best way to achieve the shortest time to end the game.
How many "TAS will say this is best ending. It isn't for fuck sakes
The best ending would be the one where you save Zero, althought people have different opinions
36:25 The boss die in 3 seconds you can count if you want , even with tool assist its freaking impressive XD
Yeah, but the SNES controller didn't come with a turbo button... and changes A LOT the time of a speedrun...
mega man x 1 they had the hadoken which killed every boss in1 hit that pretty over power but that is my guess
@DarkXxXNightmare He is aiming for the good ending, if he got the z-saber then he would force the bad ending
Well getting Zeros Sword is kinda like a bad ending because in a way you kill/disable him.
BEST ENDING, sin Zero en el final no es el best ending, antes de decir idioteces fracasado, ten tus hechos claros
This is like a big middle finger to the face of Dr. Willy, or whoever the bad guy is in this storyline :3
And also if you see at sigma virus, you can see he's being surrounded by something like a shield or energy.
listen with headphones on for the high quality 16-bit stereo, oh my god its like im really playing the game
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa todos hablan ingles maldiciooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
This is Tool-Assisted-Speedrun. This is not his actual real-time gameplay, but frame-by-frame instead.
i heard it! first went Zero then X then i heard the third teleport sound! sigma apsolutely escaped! :D
I don't think I see anything in there about hitting them in between their invincibility frames, doc. :/
Anyone knows why is Sigma likes animal so much?
Really good job, my only question is were you got that anime pic from the beginning of your vid lol
You'r super awesome if is not a program that you use to play like that! But anyway nice job bro!
Get Z-Saber in this game gives you a bad ending. The title says "best ending", so you're the noob.
how does this guy remember all of this I didnt even play this game and it looks pretty hard for me
Turned the X-buster into what's basically a heavy machine gun, and gave X godlike dodging skills.
Hey! You didn't get Zero Saber... this is not an 100% speed run :S!
modified game is easy ... ¬¬
13:00 TO HELL WITH THAT ELEVATOR!! I'M A MAVERICK HUNTER!
just megamanxd the shit outa me!
to you sir i take off my hat. you must have rsi after that
instant fail for assuming that, when you probably do not know what a tas is.
