- In today's video I install a Ford Performance rear seat delete in my 2017 Shelby GT350. This is the same rear seat delete that comes in the 2016 Shelby GT350R, 2017 Shelby GT350R and 2018 Shelby GT350R. The cost for one can be as much as $1,000 for a simple molded piece. Fortunately I did not pay $1,000, but even at $700 I feel like it's a rip off. At the the end of the day it was the only seat delete I liked and I wanted an OEM fit and finish so I paid the price. This rear seat delete also fits on the 2015 Mustang GT, 2016 Mustang GT all the way up to the 2018 Mustang GT.

I have an R, don't know if I'd pay $1k for that delete kit. On the stripe, I don't have any stripes on my car and I prefer it that way. I have the clear on my entire car.

I think the stripes go with the GT350, but change the white stripes to gunmetal. And yes, I agree with you, not worth $700, but can't beat that fitment.

Replace it with matte black stripes with a high gloss black accent instead of the white. Would look killer.

Honestly the seat delete should be a swap out option when purchasing. Hate the cost is so high for removing a component. Remove all the stripes and paint it Lightning Blue :P

Personally, I like the stripes. I have the same lightning blue with white stripes. Getting mine wrapped this Wednesday in Orlando as well. Looks like we live really close ... maybe see ya around on the road sometime!
I don't dislike them, I'm just being swayed by going stripeless or swapping them to matte.
Jeff Ashton yeah matte would look pretty nice... would you just do solid black then? Would you still wrap over the matte black stripe? I think the make special ppf film that can go over matte vinyl as well 👍🏻
Jeff, the matte black stripes w/o the white outer stripes would look good!! And I agree with you on the rear seat delete, wow was that expensive but it looks great!

Factory rear seat delete is the only way to go.
The stripes is what makes it a 350 and without is just a mustang from distance. Thats what catches my eye first to determine its a 350. Awsome ride bro
I still love the rear seat delete. Somebody else was going with that route on their S197. $700 was out of his reach. He did his cheaply, but he could've done it better. I would rather get the OEM stuff then making my own. Looks good though.

Keep the stripes. The Watson Racing rear seat delete can be had for $425 USD or less and it fits perfectly with the cage. I’m very happy with both pieces.
Casual Ten Beers I considered it, but preferred the fit/finish of the OEM piece.
Hey Jeff, I would say to keep the stripes but go with a new matte black for sure!
Most rear sear deletes are overpriced. Can make your own for as little as $20 if you really wanted too. I spent $300 on mine but its made of 2 layers kevlar and 1 layer Carbon Fiber. Then used some RGB leds to illuminate some Pony logos along with some carpet to make it match the interior.
Also many car mods are like this as well. Easy to do for little to nothing yet cost well in excess of that. Cold Air Intakes, exhaust, etc are all cheap and easy to do yet cost an Arm and a leg.
StarGaming I completely agree, didn't want to build something myself and really liked the OEM fit and finish. Should've been no more than $500 but Ford is protecting all GT350R parts with higher price points.

A lot of car parts are expensive. I want to do some lighting emblems and a tailgate strip for my truck and they would both cost me like $300+

Shelbys can pull off having stripes better than any other Mustang. That being said, my GT350 does not have stripes.

Venomous Garage The stripes are a Shelby signature but have been copied so many times that it almost makes a car look silly. In my opinion.
In my humble opinion, the worst stripes out there are the ones that Shelby America applies to the super snake. Their designs just look tacky. Even Ford Motor Company does stripes better than Shelby America

$700 ADDITIONAL. For a rear-seat DELETE. On a $50k+ Mustang having one of Ford's notorious "trick-of-the-day" engines. You should get a prize for being the ULTIMATE consumer! I wish all my customers had your sense of value, and budget to back it up!

IDK man, the molded look doesnt look that different ie an upgrade. I'll be keeping my seats in my 16. To each his own. Lose the white pin stripes too.

Not a big fan of the white stripes, did you weigh all the parts you pulled out of the car. I think they say in NHRA drag racing every ten pounds of weight removed you save a 10th of a second on overall ET, so if you remove 50lbs that should be half a second quicker.
Every time I try to buy one of these they keep saying fits only 2018 and newer. Do you have any insight to whether or not this is the case? I'd hate to screw myself. A reply would be awesome. Mine is a 2017 GT350

It happens dude. That's the mod life lol. The only one I have ever seen that was worth the money was the Boss 302 rear seat delete with the x brace for the s197. The rest of them aren't worth it. I can make one just as good or better.

Remove the strips, you can do other details to make that care pop better then those strips.

Why not make a strawpoll online and post it in the description of your next video. Four options for the striping to see what people prefer.(1. De-stripe 2-4. Different options for the stripes).

Paying a "little bit" more for the rear seat delete to get a better quality one would be understandable, but you are in the range of "people who have more money than good sense" with that rear seat delete's cost.

Stock paint scheme is best-don’t ruin it. Doing too much to the car could ruin the value.
