I'm a little biased with Melusine since I have her at NP4 but yeah her ST Form is kind of a generalized arts looping ST. It doesn't have a niche, and it's only really there to fill the slot for card damage. I think its secondary use is to generate 10 stars and add exactly 1000 damage for each of her face cards. But I don't think she's incomplete as a unit. I like using Melusine ST Form in Challenge quest because it's very consistent. You don't really need a lot of specific face cards for that turn unlike Quick units. But you also don't need Arts cards specifically to maximize damage (unlike buster units). She wouldn't bring a lot of damage to the table but the fact that she can spam it every turn makes her a very good first clearer. Against divine units, I still prefer Enkidu though.
I think what makes Melusine "great" as a unit is she fits into many archetypes, Solo, Core ST, Core AOE, Farmer, ST Farmer, and so on.
I have been waiting to get her for 2.5 years. I will finally get her first copy.
I do not mind the nodes that are Sabers, I have the NP2 arjuna alter for all those who think they can counter Melusine
We’re all always gonna want “ something more “, especially with some of our favorite Servants. But anyone who honestly looks at Melusine and thinks to themselves “hmmm, something is missing here”. Un-ironically, in my opinion, is a teeny bit greedy 😂 and is at worst, delusional 😂

Now that we have Ptolemy who Can switch between AOE and single target whenever his skill comes off cooldown I definitely wouldn't mind if Melusine got buffed to be able to do the same

Being a F2P I actually did not expect to get a copy of her in her banner. I was aiming for both Saber Lancelot and Percival but so far with my RNG random single rolls I have gotten no Percival but I did get NP3 Saberlot and my recently acquired Melusine. I have no Castoria since during her banner I was on hiatus from the game due to life but just using her from my friend list and pairing her up with my grailed to 100 Hans it is such a good pair for supporting the arts aoe/single target/buff NP dps units. Castoria fills up the NP gauge, buffs attack, arts cards, and her NP gives Melu the invincibility she needs while Hans gives stars, aoe Crit Damage, aoe Attack/DEF/NP gain buffs and best of all heals and his np gain is really good so spamming and even looping his NP almost every turn is *Chef's kiss*

the biggest issue with melusine is that, if you use her as a single target art, she only have 2 skill, if you use her as a buster aoe, then she becomes one of the best dps in bust system. her art np also got shafted, her buster np is 3T buster up + invul pierce + 5T 1k burn, while her art np is only 10 star + 5T 1k raw damage per hit + 3T 20% np gen, which means there's a damage difference that increases each turn, either the 20% np gen should've been 20% art up or that 1k raw damage should've been 3T 10%-20% def drop or both, since she was already shafted to only have 2 skills in art form
imo, melusine isn't worth it if you want to use her as a pure arts, there are quite a bunch of better options such as zerktoria and ruler kagetora, even draco, vlad, and galatea

I'm sure some people have said it already, but melusine doesn't have a defence down on her NP, it's a "damage taken" debuff. It means that every attack will deal an additional guaranteed FLAT 1000 damage. No matter how much you buff her, it will only increase her damage by 1000. Outside of very niche bossfights, this is a negligible effect, something like a 10% defence down would be much better. Consider if she does 60,000 damage on her np, a 1000 damage + effect will increase her damage by 1.7%, if you buff her damage she will do less than 1% extra damage for each instance of the debuff.
(note "damage taken" is the negative equivalent of the "damage cut" buff and the debuff version of the "damage plus" buff like the divinity passive.)
I mean obviously ST Melusine is going to be overall weaker.
You really only have two skills in her arts form. She barely have any self amp with only a single a 30% attack up in her first skill. Her np defense down is not even percentage defense down, but rather a flat 1000 damage amp (like divinity or Waver's 3rd skill's 500 flat damage amp after his attack buff.)
By herself, she can easily be outdamaged by other ST arts lancer option if not for one saving grace. Her ability to spam NP on her arts form, which let her deal sustained damage every turn.
That's why with buffers, Melusine's art form is so much better other ST arts lancer. Her ability to loop alone makes it so that you can look for higher damage buffers without having to worry about looping. The other ST arts lancer all suffers from one turn of high instance of damage and then falling flat after.

I mean think about it. If the defense down on her NP was a real defense down, that just makes her power creep Hokusai as a unit. Hokusai's niche is in 3-5 turns, she can abuse defense down on a single target in solo quests using her arts. The only difference between Hokusai and Melu is the fact that Hokusai has very average np gain, no source for stars regen, and lack of crit damage modifiers. Melusine can fire off NP every turn if you spam Brave Arts Chain or NP-Q-A(crit). If we replace her damage plus with a defense down (3 turns), that's gonna be stacks of defense down every 3-5 turns. That's absurd. More than that, Hokusai can only abuse the defense downs on solo quests or by bringing BB to lock your deck (very impractical). But Melu wouldn't need that. With the double castoria setup she could fire off NP and refund from that and another non-Buster face card. again, absurd. The beauty of damage plus is it just basically adds some sort of snowball effect to her inherent ability to NP Spam, not by a lot, but enough to make a difference; without making it absurd. It's a good balancing imo.

I'm rolling for her tonight, but... is she good to reliably Buster "loop" at NP1? With only 320 SQ and 50 tickets, I don't think luck will bless me with NP2, and NP1 is already what I think is reasonable for what I have.
Edit: 398 SQ, 51 tickets. Got trolled twice by gold Lancer cards (NP3 Percival) and the wrong Lancelot (NP3 Actually Lancelot). No Melusine. I'm hurting. I'm hurting really bad.

Np 1 is fine if you are mainly using her against archers and assuming you have koyan and oberon
2 of my friends who have her told me that NP1 is fine.

Wanna make her OP broken? Simple! Here are 2 simple things to do:
1. Reverse her AOE form and ST form. So she (in 1st and 2nd asc) starts off as AOE unit while her 3rd skill makes her ST. Now let her loose in solo situation...
2. Move her Invincibility from 3rd skill to 2nd skill. If that happened, she would never need to take her dragon form at all in solo.

420 Quartz, 2 copies of Melusine (NP3), 3 copies of Lancelot (NP4), 2 copies of Percival (NP6), not amazing like a lot of commenters but still pretty good. One more set of rolls (a multi or two on Taigong banner) to end the year then it's time to save for next year's banners.

Tbh,I am pretty sure the fact that she nearly killed KP in general is a feat. 90% of lancers cant come close to what she did when shes in her ST form. Yeah she didnt kill her, but her damage consistency and output with just her alone far outshines any other ST lancer save for Enkidu.

Truly has been a blast unleashing NP5 Melusine on the game. She’s just a total beast and is certainly a top tier lancer and servant.

She's not just "good". Mine at np2 is dealing more neutral damage than other np2 5* I have with class advantage. She ain't just "good"... she's ridiculously good.
melusine is really good as a generic servant but there i would make one change to her. I would make her skill 3 change just so you can constantly switch between form 2/1 and 3 back and forth which would make her infinitely better because it would make her like ptolomy in that you can choose how you want to use the unit.
Honestly think this is one of those things that sounds really good on paper but isn't actually useful. If you pair a servant with buster supports then switch to art NP, the art NP doesn't hit very hard and you are probably better off just sticking with the buster NP even against 1 target.
This is kind of the issue with Ptolemy too. The kit seems versatile and fun then you realize you could just buster loop with Tesla and be better off in most farming situations.
There's an archer servant that came out on jp recently who does exactly that, can't remember the name but it was a greek male servant that transforms between old and young forms.

in melusine's case, her 3rd skill has a 100% charge and in her 3rd ascension, she gains a np dmg buff bc of koyan looping. its pretty much a perfect formula for buster looping already. while it doesn't help her ST form, it lets her synergize better with koyan.
ptolemy might be more versatile and comfier in double castoria farming setups but thats pretty much it

I recall getting Melusing pretty early in the roles. And then wasting almost 600 sq failing to get NP2. That said, I also managed to get Koyanskaya in 3 multi and Oberon in a single multi. So, I'll take it.
She came to me pretty quickly on both my main and alt accounts. It was almost anti-climactic. It took just under hundred pulls to get each at NP2. Sure I'd love her at NP5, but I'm also thinking ahead for other banners coming in 2024 as well as wondering if I shouldn't take a swing at Skadi since her banner is here and I don't have her on either account. I didn't get spooked much, not even by Percival. That's a little sad, as I like Percy. Also got saber Lancelot and zerker Penth who don't really matter but for the added NP. Now I've got about 700 gems/40 tix left on my main and 500 gems/50 tix remaining on my alt. What would folks do? Save, go for higher NP on Melusine, or shoot for Scathach?

I have enough, but the first copy was like 27 multis, everyone gets salty with 1800~ sq for 2 copies.

That's so ruthless, somehow I always got lucky rolling pre pity, oddly enough I think my record was like 500~ for Skadi too.

Congrats on your great luck! The only downside is that trying to level up two 5* is going to take a lot of resources, particularly getting them to 10/10/10 on skills. I just got my first copy of Mel today and blew through a lot of my spare resources to get to 10/10/10 immediately. Tapped me out of bells and dragon teeth.

Caster Cu is the Black Grail buster farmer you are forgetting. He needs his Mana Loading maxed out to do it.
Turn 1:
First skill gets Caster Cu NP to 50%, Pop Cu's 3rd skill, THEN use both Vitch and support Vitch skills 2 and 3. But only one of their NP skills to get Cu to 100%. Caster Cu uses NP to finish wave and is then back at 80%
Turn 2:
Other Vitch NP skill puts Cu to 130%, Caster Cu's 1st and 3rd skills are off cooldown so pop skill 3. Caster Cu uses NP to finish wave and is then back at 80%
Turn 3:
Pop Cu's 1st skill to be at 110% NP, use NP and done.
This is how I farm XP for my other mystic codes.
Turn 1 you gotta put Koyan FIRST skill AFTER Cu's first and third skill. Koyan second and third skill are irrelevant when you pop them.
And this is only one of many ways to black grail buster farm with him (although this one isn't tied by any mystic codes)

the game wanted to make it up to me for me not getting Ibuki after spending 600 SQ on her
I got her to np5 back in Avalon and my biggest critique for her would be that you need both Koyanskaya and oberon to farm with her, needing three limited servants for a team is a steep requirement that for some players either out of luck or budget will not be able to meet, that being said she is my favourite lancer dethroning Kagetora which is why I went for np5

@@charlesj12345 servants with 50% Charges can get away with just double Koyan, provided you have either Superscope or a single copy of Kscope with the Mana Loading maxed
that being said, the damage goes down the toilet in those situations
@charlie190789com if your servant has a 50% battery double koyan and any 50% charger (like the free waver you can get) with any 50% starting ce can loop you could loop before oberon, melusine needs oberon
I see this a lot and it's somewhat misleading, that's the setup for optimal damage but for a lot of 90+ content you don't need optimal damage to 3T farm. For a lot of the 90+ nodes that we do, you can use Arash/Habertrot type to clear wave 1 then you only need a friend Koyan/Oberon and your free Waver to farm with Melusine without plug/ce limitations. If you need extra damage, you can plug in a welfare support like the Santa Martha we just got or Summer Da Vinci we got earlier. So no, you can farm fairly comfortably without any limited SSRs besides Melusine, if your Melusine has high enough NP level.
Depending on how much damage you need, you could even possibly get away with not using Waver since Melusine has 130% charge and a support Oberon is enough to get her to 200% charge.

So you need to roll multiple copies which have the same rate of dropping as those other 5 stars in the high damage comp, using arash optimally also requires a kscope which not everyone has or 60+ charge ce which most should have but again it's a factor or his append, habetrot is a good strat and you can use her in conjunction with the camlan CE, but the damage you lose is significant at lower np levels, she will still dunk on archers but you will have harder nodes and challenge quests where she'll fail to finish the job if she doesn't have follow up cards against neutral, so if you want to only use her on archers you have a lot more flexibility.
As for looping most players rate a servant on if they can do all three waves for consistent looping, if you need a second damage dealer for one of the waves that's a demerit, while the double koyan and oberon set up lets you three turn guaranteed it also lets you put whatever ce affords you the most damage on melusine.
But the biggest reson of all is if you own Artoria lancer or Ereshkigal both can loop with double vitch and an extra 50% charge or double vitch and kscope, so I think it's equally misleading to say Melusine loops as easy as her competitors who don't have to sacrifice a huge chunk of damage and can also use the same comp

@@thornszk if the banners are distinct, then of course you can hit pity in both of them. Even for the same servant, for instance you could have hit pity in the previous Melu banner this year and you would still be able to hit pity in the new banner that drops in a few hours.

I got Skadi at Pity while Melusine came home in my first 10pull with 2 Percival. 😂 GACHA gods took pity.
I finally got 4 more copy of Melusine to get her at NP5. Only cost me 50 tickets and 2,130 SQ. Time to save for Summer.

Getting NP2 on your best damage servants is a huge jump in power level for your box but if you are still missing supports then you should save for the the supports.
In defense of mel not soloing kp, i think that could be done if you gave her some command codes that heal and ran a better mc. She wont be the best solo unit obviously bit i think she could kill kp alone with the prep

I'd say go for supports. Koyan Light and Castoria are really must have supports so if you don't have them, you should try to get them. Koyan Light is having a re-run soon I believe (don't confuse her with Koyan Dark who is good and is coming out soon as a new servant - no one has her yet on NA). Koyan Light enables Buster, Castoria enables Arts teams. Oberon is a great support as well, but more of a luxury support who supports through giving charge and a big boost to NP power.

I wouldn't bro. I'm on NP2, I kind of want NP3 but you're already there. Always good to get an NP5 for sure but the difference isn't that crazy. Maybe for her single target NP without 3rd ascension - but I reckon save your quartz for the future banners my man.
She's already strong with NP2, Double Koyan and Oberon in the mix as well, personally, for 1v1's I prefer using Kama or a ST Berserker.

i literally see no one talking about her ST dps, ppl are obsessed with farming 3T looping meta and that overshadows her ST abilities is my guess ??
Double 2033 CE and only single Castoria+Melusine duo can k^ll multiple boss in single node.
her ST spamming ability is insane,
ST np gives insta crit stars as well and she can constantly crit with her 2nd skill and NP spam. even if she only had first 2 skills she still would have been one of the toptier arts based boss k^ller ,
or am i missing something
edit: nevermind. i am probably wrong. I have Kagetora and seems like she is a better boss k^ller lancer. it is just that i am obsessed with "duo team setups" in fgo and Melusine is crazy good if you pair her up with a single support. i was judging her through a specifically skewered perspective lol
@@btchiaintkidding7837 double 2033 on any DPS will make it a great boss killed against any boss that unit is mean to fight. Melusine is great in a lot of stuff but her no damage at NP0 is not as mighty as people imagine. That not means that with the right set-up she can't do cool stugg
Im f2p and still haven't finished orleans but i got her in 2 multis. I like hiw she's op but like I got jack the ripper previously and now the two 5 stars that i have are loli's. (Excluding free enkidu)
