- Grannoms are one of my favorite hatches to fish in the spring. It is also one of the larger hatches is our area so it is a sight to see. This is one hatch I've been know to call off work for. The Grannoms come off so heavily that it almost looks like it's snowing. I would also tie this fly without the egg sack and have a couple of them handy in case that is what the trout are feeding on. Please go to our website for all the materials needed to tie this fly and others at www.holsingersflyshop.com and as always thanks for watching. -Shawn
Thanks Shawn, I enjoy watching your videos please keep them coming
Planning on tying a few of these tomorrow. This pattern looks great! Very good video Shawn!
nice fly shawn
very good.
Hi Shawn, I just recently subscribed and starting watching some of your videos. I have noticed you do a lot of instructional tying using size 12 hooks. Do you do that just so it is easier to see, or because that is the typical size of the insect? I always fished smaller sizes, mostly 16 or 18 for most nymphs. If you could please clear this up for me, I would greatly appreciate it
Seth Hunter yes I tie a lot of 12 and 14's mostly for video quality. I do fish a lot of 14's, some 12's but I have been going smaller and smaller every year
Holsinger's Fly Shop ok thank you for clearing that up. I actually live in the area and will probably be stopping in sometime soon. I look forward to checking out the shop and meeting you. I'll probably ask a lot of questions because I'm still a beginner haha
Seth Hunter I'm usually in the shop on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. If you stop any other time dad will be there, he runs the shop. He can help you out too.
