  • Here's is one of my new favorite streamer patterns, the Fox Tail Streamer. I messed around with this fly before my annual salmon fishing trip to NY. It turned out to be a killer pattern for steelhead while I was up there. I even have been trying it out this fall in the same size on my local trout streams and have been doing quite well swinging it for rainbows and browns here in Central PA. Like always the materials for this fly are available at holsingersflyshop.com and please subscribe to my UA-cam channel and like us on Facebook.

I love this fly!! The rainbow version too. That hook is awesome! I tried this fly for the first time last week and wow! Just like you said it would be. I had salmon going out of their way to smash it! Caught 3 right in a row. Very nice fly i plan to keep in my boxes at all times! Thanks for the great service too! Fish on!

Shawn, nice streamer. Do you like the up eye on that octopus hook or would you use any of the short shank straight eye hooks that have similar wire strength? I realize you like the wide gap in relation to shank length but the octopus hooks I have are offset. I'm told it makes the streamer swim on it's side. It doesn't seem to have made a difference in you success, I'm just curious. 😕 Thanks again, lots of tips on prep and tying in the wing.
