    It's so frustrating...Georgia is clearly a great team, with the talent and potential to be elite (if not the best in the country)...but there's been considerable stretches of nearly every game this season where they simply aren't executing at all.

      And it's not just this season. Last year it looked like they had to let the other team score first before they decided to play. It is frustrating.

      This is exactly how I felt as a bama fan after they lost to Clemson in 2018 championship now Georgia did better than bama did in that specific game but the feeling you’re talking about I totally understand. Georgia is a good team and will have MANY more opportunities on their schedule that Texas match up should introduce Texas to the SEC well.

      really is that simple. Beck shoulda had 2 more int's in that first half.
      He woulda had 6 turnovers by half.
      One was a slant pass into double coverage. The other was another slant near the endzone an bamas LB drifted back into coverage an about snagged it with one hand/arm.

    Never thought I would see anything wilder than the Rose bowl against OK. But damn if this wasn’t the wildest game I have ever seen. It is not a 28-28 game and it is not even close. 22:23 when the ball kind of dropped, wr has already lost his balance. I don't know if it is possible to correct it back for a td, but it is not a sure td. Second potential td 39:00. The slant, is a good route. But where is the ball placement? not even on that route. QB did not put a good ball and wr did not run the correct route. What if that happens to Jalen Milroe? Oh, he is just bad and so prone to throw picks. Let's say if it is a 1:1 situation, there is way higher chance to become a first down than a td. 3rd "possilbe" td 52:21, carson has all the time to throw the TD, but he still mis judged the blitz situation. Again, the same situation comes to jalen milroe 1:10:43, the comment is georgia defense plays well, but not alabama not executing well. How we define well executed? mora than half of those plays are executed are already very good. 1:12:00, a pick six not well executed. So let's say if each team execute half of the play, the score is still 35:14. Still a 21 points game. Not very far from 23 points.

    Thanks for breakdown. I think A big part of the difference in the 2nd half was UGA playing with nothing to lose. They struggled on 3rd down the whole game going 3-15 but had 5 4th down conversions in 2nd half. When the offense knows it has 4 downs to convert it's a huge difference. It allowed UGA offense to stay on field and was a momentum swing. Credit UGA for converting them bc a few of those could have given Bama great field position otherwise.

    GA was master#@+!n¥ while Milroe got down to business waiting till after the game to do the same or even better. Typical Kirby team that desperately struggles to put 4 solid quarters together in the same game.

  • @jsigur157
    @jsigur157 2 години тому +1

    Ga.s comeback was basically ruined when Milroe hit Williams on their first possession right after Ga. had taken the lead. Not only did Williams come down with the ball against Ga.s best defender, but he evaded Starks and defender #4 to, then, go into the end zone from 50 yards out, all the while, with Number 4, seemingly, having a perfect angle between himself and the out of bounds to take Williams out around the 30 yard line or so and make Bama earn its victory.
    It became, as if, once Ga. took the lead, Alabama's serious side woke back up from it's 25 minute slumber and resumed what it had done throughout the first quarter and much of the second, slaughter Ga. all over the field!.
    Had Bama been forced to first run a few plays and then kick a field goal to regain the lead, some of the dignity, Ga. had worked so hard to regain, would have been kept.
    But, even so, Beck and Ga. had a chance to retake the lead, marching his troops down the field, in one minute's time, to have 1st and ten on the Bama 25 . Beck decides to toss up a ball that his 6 ft 3 inch receiver, an NIL recruit, was brought here to reign in but It was slightly under thrown, but still gettable, for Colby Young. Instead, Bama's rookie receiver intercepts and the game became, basically, over.
    Young reacted too slowly to the slight underthrow and offered no challenge to Alabama's rookie and Ga. fans were reminded that, once more, up against the wall, Alabama will win a contested play and Ga. will lose.
    So, first, Williams catches the semi-heil Mary against Ga.'s all American defender, Malaki Starks. Williams, then, plays twinkle toes, dancing around Ga.'s two defenders to out run the operatives for the go ahead score.
    There's still 90 seconds on the clock and Carson Beck, beautifully, marches the Dawgs down the field to get Ga. in or near the "Red Zone". There's time enough for three Ga. plays to score but Carson and Coordinator, Bobo opt for an immediate pass into the End Zone where a Ga. player couldn't just catch it, but would have to out maneuver the Alabama defender in the air to bring it down. Possibly due to the intensity of the moment, Colby forgot to jump forward and In the battle of wills, when it counted, Bama wins again, Georgia loses with the freshman, Bama defender coming down with the ball and Young looking on in horror.
    After the 2nd half heroic comeback, it was as if Bama was just playing with us all along. Bama allowed us to lead for 13 seconds before reminding us, who was the daddy! Bama was the daddy!
    I'm happy that GA. didn't roll over and play dead in the 2nd half but WHAT A LET DOWN to struggle sooo hard to take the lead just to give the lead right back!!!!! I have heard only a few fans noting this end time failure of Ga.'s preferring to focus on the amazing comeback. It was an amazing comeback that fell short and contrary to what the pundits say the day after, this comeback will soon be forgotten or barely touched upon because IT ENDED IN FAILURE and Bama, did the expected, once again, BEAT GEORGIA !

    I suppose I'll agree with your determination that UGA mostly just left points on the field in the first half. I saw Trevor Mattech give his Sunday morning SportsCenter reaction, and he said the exact same thing. He watched the entire game tape also before coming on air to give his final conclusion. He was quite emphatic that the UGA passing game missed on 90% of the opportunities the Alabama defense gave them in the first half.
    Personally, I would put more weight on the side of UGA not expecting any of what Alabama was doing Saturday night on either side of the ball in the first half. The Alabama offense & defense that Georgia faced was nowhere to be found in any of Alabama's previous game film. UGA was going up against formations and blitz packages no one on the UGA coaching staff had ever seen before in Bama's first 3 games to even know they would need to prepare for it.
    However, he did also add that he believes there's also an intangible element at play here as well that can't won't show up in the box score, but is extremely relevant nonetheless :
    The mental head fuck that Alabama has inflicted onto UGA by now from going 1-9 against Alabama ever since 2008. Georgia knows they have an Alabama problem. The more they lose to them, the more they start doing things that are out of character for Georgia teams in an effort to finally get this monkey off their back.

      @whitneyhall3642 Годину тому

      People forget how much of a mental game sports are. Georgia was in their own head that first half and I think Milroe may have gotten a little lax in the second. I didn’t think Bama coaches got conservative and your D was still playing well in the 2nd! We had to go on 4th down 5 times because of it.

    Why does Alabama consistently have excellent QB’s year after year and we do not? We have QB’s with a lot of potential but also inconsistency. Do they have better QB recruiting? Or is there just better QB coaching in High Schools in Alabama? Is Kirby interested in really fierce QB’s or less interested in that? Why didn’t we recruit Milroe?

  • @hisrighthandsaves

    Kaleens a better coach. 6-0 against Kirby, Sark and Lanning. And he won 5 of those with a lot less talent at Washington. It wouldn’t surprise me if Kirby Never wins a game against Bama or a championship again. I agree with Aaron Murray, He stated today on his podcast that he believes if he played Bama like 10 times we would probably lose 7 to 8 out of 10 with Milroe. People really need to think about what I’m saying. Ed Orgeron won a championship because he brought in a dynamic quarterback and a dynamic offensive coordinator, Once he lost that he lost his job. Losing Todd Monken, probably won’t cost Kirby his job. He’s gonna take a step back as a program though. Kirby will not be a the wheels fall off type head coach, because he’s too good of a head coach and too good of a defensive coordinator. Kirby’s weakness is offense. He really believes he can run a very simple hard nose offense and win games. Go back and watch Washington’s games last year and go back and watch UGA’s games last year and it’s like night and day compare the offenses. I know Kirby likes to call dynamic offenses window dressing and wrinkles, but I’m telling you the scheme is completely different and the concepts are very hard to follow for a defense. Especially during live game action when players are going everywhere, and playing at the level of speed, which they do everything.
    Kirby believes he can win these big games with his current Offensive coach and players. We will see, but I’m sure he will never admit that not having the right players & offensive coordinator was the problem, when he losses 3-4 games. Sad part is if you look at the quarterback room, Kirby likes to let guy set for a few years, scout team and practice QBs and get very little game reps. Our quarterback play will probably look about as bad as it ever looked under Kirby next year. Unless he revamps the offense - staff and players, I really just don’t see anything good coming out of it in the next few years. Another problem that bothers me as I get it, having played football for 14 years including college. Kirby is big on practice and I get the guys need Reps in practice to play. But it just really seems that our offensive development is not very good. I just believe if you got a very dynamic great coach, he can come in right away and get the offense going first year, and get the best players on the field earlier. Look at Kaleen, first year he comes in he has the offense playing with in a few few weeks like their national title ready. So yes, you have to compare in order to know where you’re at, and where you could be. And don’t give me they have better talent at Bama than Georgia. Kirby is very well established at Georgia and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t have better talent than Bama with his success. Gentlemen, something is off you all know it and so do I.
    Separately, when Brooke or amy media talks to Kirby in the media room, Kirby responds to you like you’re stupid. You can’t even talk to him. I believe a lot of the times when he says “ I don’t understand what you’re asking or saying”, I think he does, but he’s wanting to make you feel stupid for asking the way you did. Because I always understand, the questions they’re asking, and I know Kirby understands.
    There’s nothing worse than somebody who is so smart in what they do like Kirby, and not willing to adapt to become greater. I must’ve wrote this 1 million times, but Nick Saban did a phenomenal job maybe 6 to 10 years ago when he changed up his offensive philosophy and brought in Steve Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin as he knew that he needed an explosive offense, and neeed to bring in a dynamic OC, quarterback and elite wide receivers. Simply put this is where Kirby is missing a next level program opportunity.
    Of course, my assessment of him is, although he has some tremendous Leadership capabilities and he has been around Football his whole life. His stubbornness and unwillingness to change may in fact, be his downfall from remaining at the top like he was two years ago. We will see because I don’t see a lot of kids in this NIL era wanting to come and play for a Kirby Smart offense with all the options at Big programs - Texas, TN, Bama, Oh State etc Who are the kings of college football right now with there offenses, and putting elite QBs and wideouts in the league

    from what i saw it was mostly getting the edge LBs were getting caught inside, edge guys kept getting sealed off and sometimes really bad alignment like 6 guys on the short side of the field. fixed that and Milroe was not that great rest of the game. many times the end could have rushed up the field and blown the play up instead of taking on pulling line men.

    Most underrated move that never goes noticed, maybe coincidence, but anyone ever noticed bama db’s wearing white gloves while visitors wear their white jerseys? In baseball pitchers are never allowed to wear white sleeves on the mound cause at game speed it’s hard for the eye adjust to the ball leaving the pitcher’s hand as I’m sure it’s hard for a ref to see someone have a handful of jersey at game speed, as much gamesmanship that goes into the sport these days, would not surprise me if that’s one of those small details that goes unnoticed.

      5 passes were caught. Is that illegal to do on 4th down?
      Georgia came into the game with a strategy like they were playing a Saban coached team. They crashed OLBs, and DEs into the backfield to attack running backs, but they didn’t realize that Deboar’s plan was to use Milroe’s speed and leverage to escape to the perimeter. Georgia adjusted too late, but they started trusting the DTs to take care of the RBs, and shut down the QB runs. If that had been used in the first half, then 28 points never would have been scored in the first half.

    Tuscaloosa man here. I found you originally when you made the vid breaking down DeBoer's concepts through the tape from last year's Oregon game. I came away thinking, if the QB can make the throws it looks damn near unstoppable. Your analysis gave me a lot of confidence in our new coach. Respect to UGA (as always) particularly for the 2nd half performance. I have to wonder tho, Bama held UGA to 20% on 3rd down. Usually that'll get it done but with Kirby committing to 4 downs fairly early on that extra play really paid dividends as they were 5/5. It's so rare that an offense is using 4 downs regardless of field position and I wonder, no trolling here, in another game vs Bama if the situation is different and 4th down attempts aren't a regular thing is it possible that Dawg fans are failing to realize this and it could give them a little bit of false confidence vs our Defense? Again, 20% on 3rd down and it's unlikely UGA would again be committed to 4 down ball. Anyway, I find your vids extremely insightful and objective. I really appreciate that. I've shared you with many other Bama fans. Thanks dude. Despite the outcome not going your way the stadium/crowd was really on one and the environment was superb. Absolutely electric. I hope you had a good time visiting Tuscaloosa.
