Thank you for the video! I bought a Yamaha MX88 for a steal, but it had 9 broken black keys. The tutorial worked like a charm! Now I'm in business

Wow. This is a Godsend. We picked one of these up for our church a year ago. No issues yet. But since I'm learning to play the thing, and I saw one on Marketplace for free with a couple of keys not working, the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Outstanding job, sir. I'm glad to see how straightforward this unit is to repair, because at some point I'm pretty sure I'm going to bust a couple of keys. Thanks again for the video.

Easier to repair than the broken 3rd F on my Yamaha Motif. Someone trying to move it lifted it from under the keys and borke one. It happened before it came into my posession, though. The band that originally bought it didn't want to learn how to use it.

Thank you so much for posting this. I've only had my MX88 for 1 1/2 years and I was surprised the keys loosen up so much. I do admit , I am in 2 bands and practicing alot.
Your posting explains it so well , I know I can do it myself. Thank you so much

Great that you posted this today as I was planning on servicing- cleaning my MX88 this afternoon. I swapped my middle octaves for the ends to spread the wear. Also ordered Yamaha grease and touched up all the keys. Turned out great. Nothing hard, just tedious with all the screws. Used my drill with the torque on the lowest setting. Just keep the screws separated. I marked the containers with a number a number on blue tape, with another piece and a number marking which row they came from. Thanks again.

Thank for this really helpful video - I wonder if you could advise on another issue: my MX88 has developed a fault where the power supply cable comes into the keyboard at the back. The connection has become dodgy ( I think the power supply is fine) but the keyboard wont switch on unless you wiggle the end of the connection and then it doesnt stay on. Is there any way to repair this oneself? In which case which are the key screws I would need to undo at the back..? There are so many and it is not clear if you have to take all of them off or not...

Not sure but i think you will have to completely open it up to reconnect or replace the power in receptacle.

I wish yamaha would quit cheaping out on keyboard actions using this type of key.

The same exact thing happened to my MX 88 but just the black key😮 it must be a Manufacturers mistake

Yeah, just a weak design point. We have been otherwise very happy with the keyboard.

I think it's just a weak point in the design. Considering it's price point, I guess it's to be expected somehow.

On my MX 88 my middle C plays the B note next to it. I thought I could order a key and repair it myself but after watching this great video, lol, as kids say, 'naw I'm good. lol I don't feel like going through all of this. I rather pay someone to do it. Again, great video! thx

Excellent! This helped SO much! I will advise to take a pic at every stage. Taking apart is fairly easy. However, when the parts come in 3 weeks later, it is a little difficult to remember each step. This helped greatly before taking apart, during repair, and especially putting back together. Thanks!

Hallo Mr. Jhon I have a problem with this keyboard... the tone banks move by themselves... from the grand piano to the other bank, how do I set it?

Hi, I'm sorry but I'm not sure how to correct that.
