  • Goldenrod is a fantastic medicinal herb, today we will show you how to harvest it, preserve it for both tea and oil; then we are going to use the oil to make a healing pain salve.

This is Awesome! I LOVE it! I will defiantly try this. I really want to make this using comfrey. I'm hoping it will help my psoriasis. Can you use any carrier oil? Do you need to sterilize the jars? How long will it last?

I'm glad you liked it. I was wanting to try with comfrey too. With comfrey you definitely want to start with dried leaves, instead of wilted. I think you can use almost any carrier oil, but I do know coconut oil is drying and so you might want to use a moisturizing oil. I actually really liked avocado oil, but the sunflower oil was fine and cheaper. Yes I would sterilize your jars and make sure they don't have soap residue. As long as you are not introducing germs into the salve when you use it, I think it should last a year? but I can't say for sure. Mine will be long gone before it goes bad. Also be careful not to get any water in it at any part of the process, it will likely mold. That's why I made sure they were completely cooled before putting the lids on.

@HiddenBlessingsHomestead . Wgat about Shea? For carrier? I'm not sure what to use, I'm stumped. 😊

I had no idea Goldenrod had so many benefits! I usually associate it with the stinky honey it produces when the bees bring in its nectar 😅

@HiddenBlessingsHomestead I'm definitely going to try it. I really need to. My hands look 75 years old and just feel awful, and I use vaseline, which I've heard is extremely bad for us to use. I have some dried golden rods, but no comfrey or anything else right now. I need to get some bees wax, too. You'll have to point me in a good direction, Lol. This video gave me inspiration for winter projects, yet my summer and fall projects are not even done yet 🙃 😉 🤣😆😂😆🤣😆🥰
