Thanks guys, that was an enjoyable review. I know you like your Compass Box Scott but I think Bart hits the nail on the head. It ain't cheap. Do you honestly think this is worth £110? That's more than Longrow 18 (one of many examples). Heck, I can buy three bottles of Ardbeg 10 for that. I think Mr Glaser is taking the mickey. Cheers fellas. WT
WT = totally agree. I keep thinking about buying one of the Great King Streets at under $40 to 50 or the Spice Tree at under $70. I really enjoy a number of single malts at under $60 to 70.
Hi DJ, I completely agree with you too. There are a number of very fine malts below £60 in my money. The Spice Tree is worth a go and it's a fine dram.
Boy I wish I could get longrow 18 for less than this. Retail is 240 for the 18. Hard to compare whisky prices though.
Ouch, Dustin that hurts. Much as I like the Longrow that's too much and that's the point. We are paying way too much for our whisky right now and whisky companies will just keep pushing the boundaries.
@@welshtoro3256 what's the right amount? Every bottle of longrow 18 or these limited edition compass boxes sell, many selling almost as soon as they hit the shelves. It seems if anything many of these whiskies are still under valued, not good for my wallet, but the cold reality. I certainly don't want scotch to turn into bourbon where nearly every bourbon I used to see as a daily drinker has become a hard to find bottle I have to be in line for. I'd gladly pay a bit more to avoid giving up my valuable free time chasing after whisky.

Wow. 92! This sounds very good! Great review, guys. I did get hold of the first edition and really love that one. Hoping to find this one as well. Can't wait! I'm gonna go ahead and blend my own Caol Ila/Talisker/Clynelish 🤓

For the most part, CB does deliver on the quality also, but I'm painfully aware of the fact that I'm paying for the packaging. It's not like I'm saving or displaying the admittedly great packaging.
It takes what I wish was a daily dram to an occasional dram due to the premium.

It is still Apple season for me. I am enjoying a cocktail of Dark Apple Cider (unfortunately pasteurized by law, I MISS THE DAYS OF PURE UNFILTERED Dark Apple Cider) mixed with WILD TURKEY 101, looking to find the perfect blend of spirit to juice so I get notes of Each!!

I bought one a couple of months ago and it grew on me so much that bought the last one available around here where I live, so I've got a spare bottle now. I'm so glad I did, I'll go as far as saying it's one of the best peated scotch I've ever tasted!
Great review guys! Tough call for me whether I prefer #1 or #2 both were very good and unique IMO. Hard to find a bad Compass Box. Keep up the great work!🥃🔥
I did not particularly enjoy the Asyla. If I dig really deep, I can find a bit of something distinctive in the finish, but it was very average. Flaming Heart, on the other hand, is amazing.

@@ScotchTestDummies some of our stores put 1 on the shelves every few months so different people get a chance to buy. Also prevents people from calling their friends when they see something. I've seen bottles go in an hour from 1 group of friends. Lol

Oh man, I just cracked one of my NN2s and I'm loving already. So heavy on the sweetness and EU oak on the nose and heavy on the peat and bourbon and dark fruit in the palate. I might like it better than the NN.
it is a good one and the 2 are definitely different.

Haven’t tasted any Mezcal yet! Any recommendations? CB is a bit pricey ... of course a great presentation is part of it! What would be your recommendation for comparable but less expensive options?

Scotch Test Dummies have only tried the Peat Monster, Asyla and the Spice Tree expressions. Didn’t enjoy the Asyla at all.
If you want to try some high quality Mezcal give Del Maguey a go. Their Chichicapa is a sound bet but there are plenty of others. Definitely a Ralfy Malternative.

Can't speak for the quality of the Compass Box but I recently bought a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask for £28.That's four bottles to one of the Compass Box.
