      Any difference to throttle response? Still not happy with mine though the attack blue did help. Thinking of going with a ported throttle body or maybe the Soler throttle controller. Not sure what’d be better. P.S. Is it bad that I knew when you were taking that intake to Blackout it was for Xpel on the little window 😆?

      lol no it's not bad, anyone who knows me should know by now I XPEL everything! Honestly, the intake helped MASSIVELY with throttle response it's the weirdest thing. I'm going to talk about it in the next video but it basically made starting out in any gear a lot smoother. You can definitely tell the car can breathe better.

    Great video and clean install! About 10 years ago I had a conversation with my high school buddy who went onto be an aerospace engineer. I had asked him about screens that might be installed in intakes, of at the inlet of MAF sensors, etc. He explained that those screens usually help create small eddies of wind current that smooth out the air flow, which helps the sensors get better averages. My guess, based on his explanation, is that your new air filter does a better job of providing smooth air flow than the stock one that had the screen in it. But, who knows for sure. LOL.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed

      That was my deduction as well but since I am not an engineer I can never be sure of these things lol.

    Justin the screen straightens the air out to the maf sensor. Also the stingray isn't a forced induction motor and doesn't require any better filter then maybe a BMS filter.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  4 роки тому +1

      It's definitely interesting that the new intake doesn't have that screen then. There's definitely a reason why the intake doesn't add any extra power for the stingray and you're right if I had to guess it's because it's not forced induction.

    Finally someone testing out these intakes, I just ordered mine today, I dont believe the hype of all the other intakes $600+ I think with this bigger box and filter you've eliminated restriction on the intake side, I'd say your good for 800 rwhp if not more before you reach any bottlenecks. 103mm throttle body, 5 inch intake, ported blower, only if your planning 1000 rwhp + 😄

    Justin, your videos are amazing brother. I recently bought a 2019 C7 Corvette Z06 and I’m taking your videos into careful consideration on what I do to mod my vehicle. My direct question to you is what is a safer and more effective mod. Is it the one in this particular video or the blue air filter from one of your other videos? My second question is this new air intake a GM authentic part? If so, what is the part number and cost? My main concern is I don’t want any engine issues or check engine lights and I don’t wanna deal with any type of tuning.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  6 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, the best bang for your buck is going to still be the attack blue air filter. The cost of the GM performance intake is a lot higher with minimal additional gains over the Attack Blue. You can grab one here for the C7 Corvette: www.horsepowerobsessed.com/collections/2014-2019-corvette/products/attack-blue-air-filter-1

    Sometimes it's not all about the HP gains, it's all about the looks that matter. If I had a ZR1, I think this would have been one of my first, if not the first mod I would have done. Extra HP? Sure, I'll take it! But it's the looks , no codes thrown and no tune necessary that I like! It's a Trifecta Win, WITH the possibility of it being a Quadfecta (my word) Win. 😉 I applaud your instructural videos and the details that you provide. You make it look like even a Dinosaur can do it.
    Now, how about and unsolicited accent-mod idea? Why not red accent the Corvette lettering and the four ribs on the intake plenum?
    That's it. Man of Few Words is out. Save the Wave🙋🏼‍♂️

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks, Peter! I would do the red accent if you'd ever see it but the carbon fiber cover completely hides it. The intake, much to my surprise, has added a big boost in driveability. I don't really feel the 17 extra horsepower but it allows a lot more air in apparently because the shift from 1st to 2nd gear is so much smoother.

My bad. But, yep, always a "but." BUT, if you design a prop rod to "prop" the CF cover up, like for a car show display, people would see it. Plus, wouldn't you sleep better at night knowing that you probably have the only ZR1 with a Red Accent Engine Design Package? Maybe Blackout Tinting could do a heat resistant red lettering & rib kit and you could do the marketing for it. We could make a fortune! Oklay, okay. You guys could make a fortune. 😉 I'll just have to rest easy 😴 knowing I did a good deed for making the ZR1's in the world LOOK FRIGG'N AMAZING! 🤭 Have a good rest of the week. @@HorsePowerObsessed I was always under the impression that one is literally just as good as the other. I will take that advice and give it a try. I will say, the biggest benefit for me was how much cooler the LT4 was after installing. Drove a hundred miles in 90° heat with at least 60% humidity and the temp gauge was below 200. Not much but it was. GM really does it's buyers a disservice by not putting a better filter in. But that's GM doing GM things.... appreciate the response and keep up the good work.

      You will love it. Had a C4. C5. And a C6. C7 next. The sound of that engine underneath all that fiberglass......a true experience.

      I wished they would. Hated giving up the extra filtration. Looks like the lip around the top just needs to thinner. Hope they come back to it soon.

      It does not. It’s a GM part that is specifically said to not void warranty by GM.

      Yes. It pulls air from the fenderwell instead of the hot engine bay.
