Gonna be honest Chaos Island is like the worst level to showcase a new running animation given how few areas of straight running it has. It's primarily jumping, grinding or squid-ing.
I always saw Sunset Heights as the better demonstration stage for any kind of run animation since you get a shot of it close, and you can boost without much in the way of the view
If anyone uses a skating mod, make sure to turn on the code Animation->Disable Flying Boost Fall. This will make Shadow use the falling animation when in the air instead of the skating animation
Nah, overrated. Shadow's super exaggerated movement carries the skating animation. Heroes and Dash/Speed Battle I think have better skating animations.
I do like Heroes and Shadow 2005 the most out of official game ones too I haven't seen how it looks in dash for a long time tho, so I don't remember those

@@frets3516 To be fair, doom morph is not properly explained which likely contributed to that. Ik it did for many people. That level changed to be one of my favourites when I learned it properly.
They’re rocket shoes that push enough air to the ground to hover you a few inches off of it. I would imagine them to be difficult on directional input like an air hockey puck

I was gonna say that it would be more accurate if the leg going up would be more behind the one that is on the ground for example, if the left leg would be going forward it would kind of go to the left and the right leg would be going backwards and up and going to the more to the left where both of the legs and feet lineup but it’s called SA2 styled so whatever I just wanna animation where it’s basically the sa2 animation, but even better
I've been waiting for character's animations to reflect the speed of their movement like they used to in sa2. even if it's ugly supposedly. I also miss using spin dash to charge in place, aim, then use its momentum jumping off of slopes to reach extra height.
Are all those extra animations from stuff like the springs and launch panels also part of the mod? Honestly, I think I care about those more than the skating. The more static poses they went with in the game aren't necessarily bad, but seeing him more animated like that is super nice.
Port sound ideal, but they have a higher chance I think of having issues like input lag/delay, which is top tier issue we don't want. Remasters are ports, just enhanced... ports. I know those can some with their own issues too, but if we could just have a disciplined remaster, then it's the best option out of them all. @@CC-ks6nm Remakes virtually never contain the original game. It's still not remotely a standard today. Also, it's mostly counterproductive to do that tbh. It's better for us to just operate on what's realistic, especially on the topic of Sega. There is absolute zero possibility they would include the original Sh05 game in a Sh05 remake, let alone even getting a (faithful) Sh05 remake to begin with. But yes personally, I'd like basically a polished Tomb Raider I-III situation, or Medievil but with the remake artstyle being more faithful than that game turned out to be.

I hope to see someone port his skating from Heroes as well. As much as I love SA2, I actually prefer Heroes' skating anim.

I realize now that the boost gameplay slows you down to really analyze the stage you play whereas with a spin dash you use a burst of momentum to blast through without really paying attention to anything
You can tell the person who made this mod has actually skated on rollerblades before. Best one out there.

Not really. Shadow uses a speed skating technique known as double push, which looks different than what the animation is showing.
