He says in the video API approval is a quality oil. Walmart Super tech and Costco (Kirkland) carry the API seal of approval. Look on the back of the jug same numbers and letters as the more expensive. I can do three oil changes with Walmart or Costco compared to one with Amsoil or Royal Purple. If it makes you sleep better buy the higher priced oil.
Doesn't look like they tested Amsoil or Penzoil Ultra Platinum. In numerous head to head tests Amsoil beats Royal Purple by a small but meaningful amount.
Yes, we missed Amsoil and looked into it. You are definatelly correct. Sorry, it's tough when we just pick 3 products, sometimes one will slip through.
It should. It costs 50%+ more money! I used Amsoil for years, but the cost is now up to a “discounted” rate of $11.90/qt + shipping!! F that. Most of the other top oils are $6 - $7/qt. It’s not that much better.
When they say FULL SYNTHETIC i believe the manufacture is allowed to call themselves Full synthetic when in reality only 25 % of bottle contents contain synthetic rest of the bottle is pulled from the ground not a lab. A bit misleading in my opinion
Love these internet oil wars. I recommend the cheapest brand you can find that meets the Dexos spec. Typically Costco Kirkland when it's on sale. The reality is most all engine mechanical failures are due to lack of oil or missed oil changes, super rare to have problems if maintenance is done properly with a oil meeting mfg spec.
You are absolutely right. Go to UA-cam. In the search bar put in ( synthetic oil vs conventional oil a lab owner sets us straight) it has the word Saab next to it.
Mine, too. People talk about Pennzoil Platinum being up there, too, but I refuse to use Pennzoil as that oil used to absolutely ruin motors with its excessive amount of paraffin. That oil was obnoxiously bad for motors.
Most of todays’ engines are best served by high film strength; when you combine an additive which modifies friction you have a great combination. Royal Purple wins. The rest of you should dip an engine part in your oil and see how long it stays ON THE PART. Your engine uses pressure and contact to remove it. High film strength keeps the parts coated. Royal Purple wins!
I'm not sure at how you came to this conclusion. You have a diesel oil and 2 car oils. I've never seen Royal Purple do that well in any comparison that actually tested the oils. Valvoline has normally been better than average. Amsoil is the best oil available but it does cost more, but they do have less expensive options to the Signature line that also costs less. I run Amsoil Signature in my 2 turbocharged cars and one supercharged car. I my 4 NA cars I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Just looking at performance only and not cost.... 1. Amsoil 2. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 3. Most any other synthetic oil, take your pic. In my opinion for a turbocharged engine... 1. Amsoil 2. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 3. Use At Your Our Risk If doing a 10k mile Oil Change Or Longer (Which I Don't Recommend) 1. Amsoil 2. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 3. Yikes!!! Doing a 5k Miles Oil Change 1. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 2. Amsoil 3. Any other synthetic oil
@@davekana8388 Super Tech and forget about it. Their high mileage synthetic oil does well; and it doesn't break the bank. That with a Fram Tough Guard oil filter. Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles if you short trip your vehicle, and up to 5,000 miles if you regularly drive longer trips on the freeway.
Ia!a ford f150 platinum 4*4 an its got 198.000 an runs like new one owner. An he was a slow driver it runs s great astrology GTX highmilage an its held up great about to rebuild it an upgrade the oil pump to smelling 360 a water pump but other then that its good an gasmileage!
A few years ago I bought some Valvoline full synthetic oil, poured it in my son's car and at 10,000km it was in the worse condition I have ever seen ANY oil. It had very poor lubricity, felt like abrasive between the fingers, ie sliding, and when cold had a strange scum on the surface of the oil. Either Valvoline has decided to make better oil than before if this lot is any good. I bought Valvoline ONCE only and NEVER have used Valvoline ever again. PS. I am an A grade Auto Mechanic so do know something about cars etc.
Best oil is clean oil.look on the back of the bottle they all have the same cool numbers and letters. Don’t believe all the hype of pretty pictures and logos. I know guys with over three hundred thousand miles and only used conventional oil. My neighbor has 850,000 miles on his 07 Honda Ridgeline truck. He told me Dealer oil and filter for $29.95 with coupon. I bet it is only semi synthetic. Irv Gordan had over 3,000,000 miles on his Volvo with Castrol GTX semi synthetic. The government is up the ass of these oil companies for emissions and pollutants and that makes vehicles to run and last longer.
And don't always believe that every engine needs the water thin oil viscosity mandated by C.A.F.E. Especially crap like 0W-20 on down. I plan on 10W-30 in late spring next year for a vehicle that calls for 5W-20, then switch back to 5W-20 for the winter. I drive low miles and short trip, so I only need two oil changes a year. But anything thinner than a 5W-20 is shown to cause more engine wear long term.
I do not use AI. This is all my voice and my team researched and writes reviews. We base this off lots of different things. We do also factor in how much they do sell, if a certain oil sells a lot, that gives it more weight. If there is something you don’t like, please let me know and we will adjust going forward. Thanks.

Amazonbasics motor oil has been developing synthetic for over 100years. Very good flow in Alaska cold temps and anti wear properties.

Top 3 motor oils
No. 1 Amsoil Signature Series
No. 2 Penzoil Ultra Platinum
No. 3 All the rest full synthetic motor oils
I agree ams oil then penzoil then the rest this video is irrelevant

@wesmullennix3495 my owner manual says oil must be API certified. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like AMS is, well, not their 0w20.

My top 3:
Red line
Amsoil
Royal purple

Royal Purple
Easy to get at wal mart and much cheaper than red line and Amsoil
AMSOIL has no competition. AMSOIL is in a league of their own.
YOU LOVE THROWING YOUR 💰 🤑 💸 💲 MONEY AWAY😅😅. ALL THE TOP TIER OILS GIVES GREAT PROTECTION, AND AT LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE OF AMSOIL

Amsoil signature blows royal purple away. I’ve used both in GDI turbo four cylinder Kias.
I use a soil 5-30 in my 2008 Honda civic si. Very satisfied.
AMSOIL is the best
You are correct, we looked into it more and it is really good. Sorry we missed it in the video, hard to just pick 3.
Mobil 1 my pick to each there own😊

What is a good high mileage oil?
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum!
They also make a regular Pennzoil Platinum... Ultra is a few dollars more but most agree its one of the best. 👍🏽
Valvoline extended protection. Or advanced
All my vehicles have over 100K, so thanks!

@@Shadows-RC Wally World it is. Many agree if it’s your schedule that’s followed it doesn’t matter if it’s a synthetic and in my case high mileage.
This is a bogus review... We can all read labels, thanks...
All these oil brands has Full synthetic, Amzoil offers 100% synthetic and more Protection. 🤯
Amsoil and redline all day. You will be suprised
So did some independent lab determine these 3 are better than all the others?
Hi
All depends on your car and your car requirements if you go racing or not or just daily drive things like that
I have tried RP many times
Each time I notice this oil burns off so much faster than any.
Have you heard about Miles Lubricants?

Crypto university dude selling oils 🎉 wow
Cream of the crop ? Must have been a bad crop.
The best oil is changed oil, simply put 🤷🏽♂️
I put red line in All my rams Never had a tick😅
A I ?
That would be my guess. Although I do use Valvoline 0W-20 in my Tundra.

Triax Oil is the best a nice PAO base stock pretty much stopping engine wear in its tracks
Liqui Moly over everyone of these brands.
