65 years here. Loved them from the first mv l watched. I have been ARMY for 3 years too. Occasionally l will watch a new song from another group but BTS is the only one l follow. I drive around with my BTS number plates and their music blasting from my car. Best concerts l have ever gone to ,and did not think that l could be so happy just listening to their music.
After reading so many army letters to BTS about getting scolded for choosing BTS over work/school, BTS made this song. 😂 Our relationship with BTS is so strong that a little teasing between us happens. ANG! I am so glad that you don't feel down anymore. It concerns me much when you were shocked by the negativities yesterday. Dealing with UA-cam viewers is very tricky, particularly with a big fandom like BTS's. The more you try to be open and accommodate their needs, the more they become demanding and controlling your content. And I have to admid that some ARMYs are too protective to BTS. But, I believe your good deeds and sincere gestures will make the other ARMYs happily protect you.
the story this is based on is "pied piper" or as our German original is called "Der Rattenfänger von Hameln" which literally translates to the rat-catcher of Hameln (a german city) and telling the story of a strange guy who said he could play the flute well enough to lure the rats and mice out of the city and he did so (where they all drowned) but the city refused to pay him for his service even though they hired him so he came back later and lured away all the children (120+) and only two returned one blind and one mute well the song tells it all .... in one way or another army is indeed getting lured away and everyone can see it in a different light xD

I think BTS made this song for their obsessive fans. they were trying to say that fans should listen to them and lean on them for support, but their whole life shouldn't revolve around BTS. they were telling them to not spend too much time obsessing over them and instead should be living their own life. basically they're saying that they're dangerous because you can become addicted to them, but if you're listening to them for emotional support they're sweet. This is my favorite bts song because (well besides it being a great song anyways) it was Pide Piper that made me solidify the thought "oh yep, I made the right choice stanning this group". This is a tricky song if you think about it, fans could've taken it the wrong way, but the boys cared for and trusted us enough to release it. In just one song they showed they know us and our behavior well, also admitted they're aware of the power they have over us, scolded us a lil bit with love and told us to take care of ourselves first, and even acknowledged how our love is also addicting to them (not to mention the whole metaphor of them being the pide piper luring kids away). "You're not being punished, this is my gift to you", "Don't reject me". I think in a way this song is like a different kind of love letter to us. They didn't have to put out a risky song like this (I'm almost certain Namjoon said some people advised against it), but they cared enough about our well being, and decided to trust us to get their message without being offended, so they did it. I don’t think they expected it to be so well received tho. They always seem low-key surprised by how popular Pide Piper is among armys haha We love it so much, I mean, it's not like they lied in the lyrics. "I'm here to save you, I'm here to ruin you." Yeah seems accurate to me. 😅
I'm addicted to SUGA, the "the bad boy" of BTS. Like the famous fan said to him twice: "Min Yoongi, you're a dangerous man... I will sue you for what you've done to me". 🤣 If I may, I would like to suggest you watch some of their dance practices. I'm a fairly new ARMY and when I discovered this song, it just made me love them all the more. As they often do, this song is written directly for ARMY. It highlights the fact how it can be dangerous if we spend too much time obsessing over them rather than putting time into our own lives. While it's an important part of the whole Love Yourself theme, I was always super impressed that they are brave enough to criticize their own fans for loving them too much. I doubt you'll see that with any other artist! And they do it in such a playful, teasing, and seductive way! I think this really highlights the close relationship between BTS and ARMY. Even though they do need our love and support to be successful, they also want what's best for us. And of course the song itself is just absolutely beautiful, the high notes of the chorus sound just like a seductive flute. Not to mention the fitting image they portray during the performance too!

Lol,I have come to describe this kind of experience as a "special interest" rather than obsession. In obsession the brakes are off and as RM warns a person can wake up 2 years later looking for their own life. The great thing about this song is that it isn't one sided, BTS admits that they are mutually "obsessed " with ARMY, and equally vulnerable to losing themselves! Yea as the rest of comments say , pied piper is based on the german (i think) folk tale called pied piper , who was hired in a town to get rid of rats, he played his pipe and lead them away. When he came back the towns people wouldnt pay, so as punishment/revenge he played his pipe and led all the children away. From there stories diverge what happen to the children. A lot of bts songs have refrences to books, fairytails and the world in general . Their whole wings album is based of a book called damien and the mots series is based off of carl jung's map of the soul. I must admit that ever since my teenage daughter started listening to BTS, and make me listen and learn who they were and whatever else that was to learn about them, I've found their texts so interesting and important. The music is good too, and I think I've been following them since late 2018. I'm also thankful over their existens since my daughter has gone through some rough patches in her life and knowing that Min Yoongi/Suga also suffered from depression and other hardships, she wasn't the only one feeling that way and it is possible to keep going even if it might not feel like that where you are at then and there. She's doing much better these days, but now and then things weigh heavier on her mind and in her heart. The story at the end is so relatable! Yes, their message is great for youth, but it is also so pertinent to we 'grown ass' ARMY as well. It is such a common story that as you get older, you get further away from your dreams and goals. You lose yourself. BTS' message helped me to find myself again.

It's very related to addiction and temptation, as you said it can be interpreted in many ways (I love that too!), but in the context of BTS and ARMY, if you see what RM starts singing in 3:00 he says "Let's stop looking and start studying for the exams, your parents and boss hate me, the video clips you watched..." they are talking for the fans that pass all day long just watching their things and not doing their chores that they understand that "you can't help what you like (3:09)" but still you have to live your life and do your things, to not be harmed after that. It's like a conversation with the ARMY but teasing at the same time hehehe. ANG! I am so glad that you don't feel down anymore. It concerns me much when you were shocked by the negativities yesterday. Dealing with UA-cam viewers is very tricky, particularly with a big fandom like BTS's. The more you try to be open and accommodate their needs, the more they become demanding and controlling your content. And I have to admid that some ARMYs are too protective to BTS. But, I believe your good deeds and sincere gestures will make the other ARMYs happily protect you.
the story this is based on is "pied piper" or as our German original is called "Der Rattenfänger von Hameln" which literally translates to the rat-catcher of Hameln (a german city) and telling the story of a strange guy who said he could play the flute well enough to lure the rats and mice out of the city and he did so (where they all drowned) but the city refused to pay him for his service even though they hired him so he came back later and lured away all the children (120+) and only two returned one blind and one mute
well the song tells it all .... in one way or another army is indeed getting lured away and everyone can see it in a different light xD

I think BTS made this song for their obsessive fans. they were trying to say that fans should listen to them and lean on them for support, but their whole life shouldn't revolve around BTS. they were telling them to not spend too much time obsessing over them and instead should be living their own life. basically they're saying that they're dangerous because you can become addicted to them, but if you're listening to them for emotional support they're sweet. I love this song, and the meaning behind it makes it 10x better. also I guess the number 372. 😊

They are my Pied Piper- literally. I follow the flute willingly with a smile on my face and love in heart. This is my favorite BTS song of all time!
This is my favorite bts song because (well besides it being a great song anyways) it was Pide Piper that made me solidify the thought "oh yep, I made the right choice stanning this group". This is a tricky song if you think about it, fans could've taken it the wrong way, but the boys cared for and trusted us enough to release it.
In just one song they showed they know us and our behavior well, also admitted they're aware of the power they have over us, scolded us a lil bit with love and told us to take care of ourselves first, and even acknowledged how our love is also addicting to them (not to mention the whole metaphor of them being the pide piper luring kids away).
"You're not being punished, this is my gift to you", "Don't reject me". I think in a way this song is like a different kind of love letter to us. They didn't have to put out a risky song like this (I'm almost certain Namjoon said some people advised against it), but they cared enough about our well being, and decided to trust us to get their message without being offended, so they did it.
I don’t think they expected it to be so well received tho. They always seem low-key surprised by how popular Pide Piper is among armys haha We love it so much, I mean, it's not like they lied in the lyrics. "I'm here to save you, I'm here to ruin you." Yeah seems accurate to me. 😅

I'm addicted to SUGA, the "the bad boy" of BTS. Like the famous fan said to him twice: "Min Yoongi, you're a dangerous man... I will sue you for what you've done to me". 🤣 If I may, I would like to suggest you watch some of their dance practices. DANGER is one of their earlier song and the choreography is really fun to watch. Thank you for being there💜

I'm a fairly new ARMY and when I discovered this song, it just made me love them all the more. As they often do, this song is written directly for ARMY. It highlights the fact how it can be dangerous if we spend too much time obsessing over them rather than putting time into our own lives. While it's an important part of the whole Love Yourself theme, I was always super impressed that they are brave enough to criticize their own fans for loving them too much. I doubt you'll see that with any other artist! And they do it in such a playful, teasing, and seductive way! I think this really highlights the close relationship between BTS and ARMY. Even though they do need our love and support to be successful, they also want what's best for us. And of course the song itself is just absolutely beautiful, the high notes of the chorus sound just like a seductive flute. Not to mention the fitting image they portray during the performance too!

I remember reading the lyrics for Pied Piper for the first time and being surprised by the meaning. I've been listening to that song on rotation for some time without knowing that they were teasing about how passionate their fans can be (and i can relate so much!). Lol,I have come to describe this kind of experience as a "special interest" rather than obsession. In obsession the brakes are off and as RM warns a person can wake up 2 years later looking for their own life. The great thing about this song is that it isn't one sided, BTS admits that they are mutually "obsessed " with ARMY, and equally vulnerable to losing themselves! Yea as the rest of comments say , pied piper is based on the german (i think) folk tale called pied piper , who was hired in a town to get rid of rats, he played his pipe and lead them away. When he came back the towns people wouldnt pay, so as punishment/revenge he played his pipe and led all the children away. From there stories diverge what happen to the children. A lot of bts songs have refrences to books, fairytails and the world in general . Their whole wings album is based of a book called damien and the mots series is based off of carl jung's map of the soul. The are others too, one of my favs with a cute story behind it is *whalien 52* But as you have already found out that bts has alot of rabbit holes so ill stop

I must admit that ever since my teenage daughter started listening to BTS, and make me listen and learn who they were and whatever else that was to learn about them, I've found their texts so interesting and important. The music is good too, and I think I've been following them since late 2018. I'm also thankful over their existens since my daughter has gone through some rough patches in her life and knowing that Min Yoongi/Suga also suffered from depression and other hardships, she wasn't the only one feeling that way and it is possible to keep going even if it might not feel like that where you are at then and there. She's doing much better these days, but now and then things weigh heavier on her mind and in her heart. This particular one is them thanking army's for loving them but at the same time reminding us that our responsibilitys are more important and that they should be the reward for finishing our work. The story at the end is so relatable! Yes, their message is great for youth, but it is also so pertinent to we 'grown ass' ARMY as well. It is such a common story that as you get older, you get further away from your dreams and goals. You lose yourself. BTS' message helped me to find myself again.

You are noticing the hidden messages of the 'Pied Piper '! That's part of the fun of listening to BTS songs...there's always more than one way to interpret the lyrics.
The boys said they wrote this song specifically for ARMY. RM talks about how although ARMY loves BTS, you should not let your obsessions take over your life. The message is to enjoy them, but keep living your life too (for example, RM says keep on with your studies for those in school and make them the most important focus of your life, not BTS). The bigger message, which you figured out, is to avoid obsessions of any kind. Just like the luring flute in the Piped Piper folktale, your obsessions can take you down a dark path that you may not be able to come back from. The melody was written to be so seductive on purpose. Who wouldn't be tempted?
Apparently Bang PD (CEO of BigHit & music and composer/producer extaordinaire) jumped on to help write this song because he knew how important the message was and wanted it to have a strong impact. It's one of my ALL TIME FAV BTS songs 🎵

It's very related to addiction and temptation, as you said it can be interpreted in many ways (I love that too!), but in the context of BTS and ARMY, if you see what RM starts singing in 3:00 he says "Let's stop looking and start studying for the exams, your parents and boss hate me, the video clips you watched..." they are talking for the fans that pass all day long just watching their things and not doing their chores that they understand that "you can't help what you like (3:09)" but still you have to live your life and do your things, to not be harmed after that. It's like a conversation with the ARMY but teasing at the same time hehehe. And if you see the name "Pied Piper" it comes from the German legend of the Pied Piper who led the children of Hamelin away from their parents playing his pipe and enchanting them.
