I've had War Chest for a few months now... and I've played it probably 30 times, but 1v1 and 2v2. We love it!

This was also a surprise hit for us as well. I'm a HUGE abstract fan but the bag-building element in an abstract game had me a bit wary. I was wrong. All this game needs now is more units in hopeful-future expansions. Drafting is where this game really is at and with more units to choose from there's more opportunity for more complex and meta-drafting pre-game which is something that I love. Here's hoping for more expansions sooner rather than later.

There are 2 expansions now, with 8 new units.

Bought and played two games of this yesterday. The only thing I wish they included is a reference card for each player of all the face-up and face down actions. By the second game this wasn't an issue but it was a bit rough the first game.

Yeah there is a very basic aid on BGG but I want something less basic.

I just uploaded a more stylistically themed reference card file on BGG. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/171151/war-chest-player-aid-fancy-v11

For the Crown is a deck building abstract.

This game is getting a lot of buzz. I hope I can still score one when I get to Essen on the Saturday of the fair. Could be sold out before the weekend and then I have to wait until it hits retailers...:/

I thought the game was okay but once we house ruled the royal coin was a wild it made the game way better for us. The royal coin just felt like a dead coin in your hand and being the first player felt way more important when using the official rules.

Would that not essentially be Top 10 Gateway Games?

@@TheBrokenMeeple I'm going to buy it. It'll take me some practice as I'm not naturally good with spacial games but I love the bag building element. Plus it's so pretty.

I was about to Literally turn this crap off 10 seconds in after you were Hating on the name...but I'm glad i waited another minute to realize your not a douchebag
I love this game and the Hands on Feel the asthetic of it all. The unit coins. The Simplistic board. The Forest Green Coin Satchels.
But only if I can play it hands on. That online stuff ehhhh
If I have someone to play against that also really wants to play like my gf (yeah the first real board game That I got her to play was that and now she is hooked .. Mainly because I kept telling her how good she is and let her beat me a few times)
I had the base Box. Then got Siege and recently got Nobility for a bday gift. And I have to say Anyone who is looking for which expansion to buy first after they play the base game, Get Nobility! Siege just gives you some new artillery units and stuff but Nobility adds The final touch. And makes the Control marker chips way larger.
Now with all three expansions there are so many units and variety plus the Castles fortifications added to the map. And Now the Royal decree cards.
Plus the siege weapons and The Nobility units. It's a lot even for me. When I added Nobility the first few matches I literally went from knowing the tactics and overall Strategy I was planning to go with to realizing I had no idea what to focus on because the extra layer of new stuff to Remember.
And I'm a sucker for dice and Unit Chits or Coins or anything.
Are you a big fan of Advance wars and or fire emblem kind of Games for GBA. And or similar games but on table top?
Apparently there is another new warchest expansion now

Sounds like a Neuroshima Hex clone.

It's nothing like Neuroshima Hex - that's more the upcoming Monolith Arena.

Mostly abstract. Pull tiles from a bag. Discard one. Play dudes on a map.

    • @TheBrokenMeeple
      @TheBrokenMeeple  6 років тому +2

That can apply to a lot of games but the way the tiles interact and conflict occurs, doesn't happen here. Plus you have actions beyond placing on the board.
