- Today we are taking a look at a very special build, the 1998 Nissan Sentra SR20DE a car with a ton of character amongst South African enthusiasts. This SR20 however, is turbo charged because the car came out normall aspirated in 1998, this is because the owner wanted to add more power to the motor resulting in more than 200kw and 350+nm of torque. This car sounds incredible with a very satisfying turbo flutter and noise. This is a fairly stock car but the intercooler gives it away quickly

4. Sequential dump valve.
5. Quantum high pressure fuel pump.
6.ARP head bolts.
7. Modified clutch to hydraulic.
8.LSD gearbox.
9. 780cc precision injection.
10. 100mm downpipe and full stainless steel

The det when built properly is a very reliable motor with loads of power and torque on tap thats why i went Det rather than vvl, also not many det sentras out there😉

For me personally if I were to get me a Sabre myself I would either go sr20det or sr20vet myself, boosted👌
Yea bro !! The boosts just adds a lot more excitement, and I am not saying a naturally aspirated DE or VE is not exciting, but its just my personal preference

For me I love the vvl...turbo is cool no doubt, but as you see in the video...too much torque in fwd OEM box is a bit pointless. Fun yes...but pointless. Nonetheless, its a nice build, lekker to see a natal car doing us proud in the cape!

Another great video. Top ride. That sabre looks in good condition and is also a sleeper with that sr20det under the bonnet. Do you know if it is sr20det taken from a fwd pulsar, was it from a rwd 200sx or was it a local sr20de with a turbo added?
In terms of a setup, normally aspirated VVL would be better for a fwd car like the sabre. Looks like there’s a bit of torque steer.
