The n in jongen is officially pronounced. HOWEVER it usually isn't pronounced because we Dutchies are lazy af lmao. I get the confusion you had about the stilent n. I think the person slightly pronounced it, like not fully but enough to kinda hear it. You did really well, this makes me really happy hahaha. And you said het meisje well! Wish you had continued the course
I started practicing Dutch about a year ago so me and a Dutch friend of mine could communicate easier, And despite practicing for nearly a year now, some of your pronunciations are still better than mine
Kijk. Je eerste taal en je taalgevoel zijn belangrijk maar oefening baart kunst en gelukkig is Nederlands redelijk consitent bij uitspraak en dergelijke. Maar als je fouten maakt met de dt-regel moet je je geen zorgen maken want de meeste Nederlandstaligen maken hun hele leven hier fouten over. Als je deze comment trouwens goed kon lezen zonder te vertalen dan geloof ik dat je Nederlands als redelijk goed is.
@@dappercoat249 np. I was actually suprised people willingly learn our language. So i hope you keep yourself motivated learning our language and get some fun out of it
As a Dutch person, I cried over your mental breakdown over the word ‘jongen’. The n is not officially silent, but honestly, no-one pronounces it because we’re all lazy. We pronounce it the same way as in the last name ‘De Jonge’. Also, you nailed ‘het meisje’.
Let me tell you in dutch we don't usually have silent letters but sometimes, like in the word "jongen", we prefer to not pronounce the n at the end since it is a bit faster this way. So "jongen" is the correct pronunciation and "jonge" is the most used pronunciation.
I have been learning Dutch in Duolingo for 2 years, and I cracked up when you were pronouncing "het meisje"! Don't worry, I have been dealing with pronunciation obstacles too, like the word "bezienswaardigheden"
I am learning dutch and before i start watching the video i saw that you wrote in the dissciption Hat Masia when it is correctly Het Meisje. But the video is still good. Please continue with videos like that.
It kinda makes sense that you did pretty well, Dutch and English do have a decent amount of similarities. But it's still quite a difficult language (and I say that as a Dutch person, seriously screw our grammar), so good job.
Quite a few non-native Dutch speakers have told me Dutch is pretty easy in their opinion. Especially in terms of pronunciation rules; Dutch seems to be pretty regular with its pronunciation.
English grammar is way more complicated than dutch. As of a fact according to studies, for English speakers, Dutch is one of the easiest languages to learn... for non-English speakers it is a hell of a different story...
@@ildikomelindacsabina3291 Honestly I find that Dutch grammar is a giant step in dog shit compared to English grammar, at least with what I've got in mind right now. At least you don't have two words for "both" that have no discernable grammatical difference (and no AUDIBLE difference either since we just drop the ending Ns). In English, you have place first and time later, and these things tend to be at the start or end of a clause or sentence, whereas in Dutch you can really just toss words into any word soup order and it'll count.
As a person who speaks dutch, i was stunned about your accent. And btw, you pronounced "Het meisje" correctly at your first try
