- This week I headed out to a State Forest Campground in North Central Minnesota. I brought the Engwe Ebike and hit the forestry trails. I also tried a new cooking technique over the campfire on a tomahawk steak. It was the perfect weekend. I want to thank everyone who reached out to me last week. I had gone two weeks without making a video. I cannot express how grateful I was that people were concerned with not seeing me. I had a great weekend with the family on Easter. unfortunately, the next week, my dog Hannah, my best friend, passed away. I could not find the energy to make a video.
This week I'm back and Mandi is going along. I'm thankful you are following along with us. Ill see you down the road.
Every time I watch these videos I am filled with a sense of peace....

I'm glad to hear that. I watch a lot of UA-cam RV and Vanlife channels. They can be inspiring with all the traveling, living full-time out of their rigs. I hope to show that a person can still live in a home, work a full-time job, and have a little piece of RV life.

The veggies you should cover with foil so they steam. The steak I am interested how it turns out. I would just do the tried and true, and slow roast to medium.. great video!

Holy Crap. I haven’t see a steak like that since the Flintstones. 😮 U had snow for Easter, I had 100 degrees while traveling thru Parker, AZ over the holiday weekend. Keep up the good work.

Problem is -from watching your vids - that every time I drive my old Ram 2500 it feels like I'm hauling a camper. But alas, I'm just wishing I guess. Thanks for the memories and new wishes. NE Washington was nice for about a week, then on last Friday the weather went south again. For a good week or so, we had temps in the 70s and 80s! It was so nice to get outside and start prepping my truck and camper for the season. I dropped my fuel tank and replaced the fuel level sensor. I’ve finally fixed the inop fuel gauge which has been a 2 year problem.
Having a proper working fuel sending unit is nice. I've owned my fair share of vehicles without a working fuel gauge, it is such a pain.

Hopefully, the forest roads will open sooner rather than later. I'd like to get into the Foothills State Forest before camping season takes off.

That is a cheap grill grate that I bought from Wal-Mart. It is bolted to the ladder using a Piano hinge.

Oh no Terry, Hannah was my Rottweiler. She was in a few videos in the beginning. I didn't bring her camping because my daughters are home on the weekends, and they feel safer with Hanna being home.

I saw Larry from "Work Less Enjoy Life More" was using these little red lanterns. For 9 bucks, they work ok, just ok though. The Colman lanterns with mantles provide way more light. These guys use an old school wick. They are more for aesthetics over function at this point. Thanks for watching!

Winter weather, you will find as you age you’ll dislike it more and more that has been my experience with many people and myself over the years. Beautiful yes but that’s about it.
I'll have to agree. The cold goes into my bones, and it takes longer to warm up.

Thanks, it's not unheard of. Fishing opener is May 13th. I remember getting snow overnight while in the boat. But I don't remember having the lakes frozen over or having this much snow on the ground this time of year. It should be melting quickly.

I'm so glad to see you back. And it was lovely to see Mandy's foot 😂. I'm in the cities and we had some 80 degree days but then back into the cold too. Took my rv out Easter weekend to Iowa to visit family. Was great to get back out there! I'm so sad about Hannah passing. I have went through that loss and it's never easy. RIP to Hannah and sending you and your family healing thoughts.

It's funny because when Mandi watched the video she said "hay, you can see my foot, can't you crop that out" I told her it would have been a hassle. Lol
Watching your videos made me get the urge to get our RV out the last two days at the Iowa Great Lakes near Okoboji Iowa. Lows in the 20’s and highs in the upper 40’s just right. It will warm up in Minnesota at some time.
I'm glad to hear you got the RV out! Last year around this time Mandi and I went down to Yellow Medicine Stsye Park in Iowa (I think that's what it's called). That was a beautiful park.

Isn't thst a great little table! Mandi and I planned on driving up 61 for this video, but we went another route. I'll be up there soon. I want to check out the waterfalls. Since I only record on Saturdays and Sundays I'm concerned that everyone else will also be checking out the waterfalls.
@Kenny Of All Trades it hasn't been too bad yet, I think because it's been chilly. We were at high falls today, mild tourist attendance,....beautiful crazy amounts of flow. But...beware, the back roads and dispersed camping is broke up and road bans are imminent. So, have a camp spot plan
@Carole Flack I was gonna stay at the RV overnight lot in Silverbay. Or caribou falls way side rest. Or maybe the city lot behind the bathrooms in GM. Those are my go-to spots when all else fails.
You'll have to keep me updated on the roads. I normally call the Ranger station in Tofte for updates. They are usually accurate on the forestery road conditions

What would be your best piece of advice for someone who just moved from Aus to Alberta Canada. This would be for going camping in the winter in an old toyota Highlander, a blow up mattress and a cast iron pan. what would be the next most valuble thing you would take in 0 / -12 car camping? New to your channel and love you're videos btw!
Great question. I haven't done a lot of car camping, but I've broken down in the middle of winter and had to wait for someone to stop. During a blizzard that might be after the storm when the plows head out. The cold can be a killer. Literally, hypothermia can kill. A good sleeping bag that is rated for the temperatures, and extra dry clothing will be important. Having the ability to communicate with emergency services is also important. If you are dispersed camping, I'd suggest carrying a scoup shovel in the winter. I'm sure there's a lot more. I think staying warm and dry in freezing temps is most important.

Congrats on 100, that's always a milestone to reach. Question about your slide out or better yet a problem with mine and maybe you can relate or have some insight. My propane alarm went bad while the camper was in storage and I didn't know about it until I visited the camper a few weeks later. I have a solar cell on top with an inverter and AGM battery. I don't really know how a bad propane alarm could have drained the battery but it did. I am in Arizona and we get a lot of sun. The volts on the AGM is 15.5, yet my slide out acts like the battery is low and barely moves. Before all this everything worked perfectly, no issues. Any ideas on why this is happening?
Hay Trey. I'll start by saying I haven't done any work to my slide other than maintenance. I haven't had to look at the slide electrical system, so I'm just throwing out a few ideas. I would check the voltage at the motor when you push the button. I imagine you will see a little voltage drop, but I would confirm there is close to the same voltage as the batteries. Another thought would be applying 12.5 volts to the motor bypassing the camper electrical system to see how the motor reacts. I would imagine there's a schematic online identify the motor leads. These are just my thoughts. Good luck with everything, let me know what you find.

How does that bike lithium battery do in the cold weather? I like the drone shots. Did the branches of the trees snag it much? That steak 🥩 looked amazing. 👍✌️
I take the battery inside when I'm not using the bike. I do think the cold could cause issues. I don't have issues while riding though.
I was getting really close to the branches. Eventually I got to close...but its still working. That Epoxy fix that I did on the gimble few months back is still holding.
Sheesh... Is the ground in Minnesota snow covered year round? It's late April lol

You can pan fry them or I just air fried them at 375 just cook until they get kinda colored and bubbly on both sides. They are the best!
They grilled up nice, but the air fryer was the way to go. I was surprised by the flavor and texture. They taste just like cheese curds from the fair without all the oil.

I have the Arctic fox 811, which is pretty identical to yours. Do you have any problems shearing the bolt that keeps your slide motor connected to the transmission?
I haven't, but I have seen others have. So far, the only thing I've had to do is tighten the lag bolts holding the motor down.

We've talked about it. She has always said the channel was my thing. Plus, she doesn't want to deal with the negative comments and judgment that comes along with putting yourself in front of the camera. It's amazing how nasty people can get hiding behind their keyboards in the comment section. She doesn't want to deal with that. Maybe I'll try sneeking her in more. I got a few shots of her in a video earlier this winter. She wasn't happy about it, but I told her it would be hard to edit that part of the video out. Lol
