    Love all your videos…but always secretly waiting for your maple videos. Some of the best work I’ve found on UA-cam. Looking forward to seeing the ramification multiply in the future! 👏🏽 🍁

    Hi my friend,i really like this double trunk japanese maple,you did a great job of styling. In a few years it will become wonderful! Have a nice weekend!👍👍👍🔥

      I find myself stepping towards twin trunk maples each time I work on seedlings. I have a thing for them. Thank you Roberto, you too!

      I agree. I do as well. They seem to be more interesting than single trunk maples when they are not that thick as some really old Japanese maple bonsai’s.

      @MartijnSinkeler there is an elegance that single trunks are hard to achieve. Thank you Martijn!

    Gorgeous specimen. Amazing that the air layer produced such great radial root system from the get go! Congratulations. Looking forward to following up on its progress.

      Thank you Carl! Yes, it seems I was quite lucky on this one. I've found out that the bigger the air layer, with more foliage, the best root system you get. Cheers!

    What an interesting shape! To me, the first option for the front looks better; the second had a little too much negative space for my liking. But what do I know?

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  Місяць тому

      Your input is as important as any, as my own. Aesthetics can be statisticaly approached so what you said is very interesting! Thank you!

    • @gymnosophist7471
      @gymnosophist7471 Місяць тому

      @ I’m not sure Plato would agree with you 😉

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  Місяць тому +1

      That is a great point, but I really think he would agree with me. For him there are 2 types of aesthetics. One of the eyes and ears and a second one, the important one, one of what is ethical and proper. And he was able to say all of that while in the prosperity and wellness of the first applied idea of democracy ever in the human history. So the aesthetic just and proper would be, in this case, the opinion of everyone (as long as he was an Athenian citizen and male ha ha ha). I tend to respect every opinion as it helps me a lot in a circular approach to what is beautiful, besides my own beliefs. That was a nice Sunday philosophical journey man!

    • @gymnosophist7471
      @gymnosophist7471 Місяць тому

      @ I was thinking of the Hippias Major, in which Hippias gives examples of beauty (I guess a statistical approach), and Socrates corrects him by pointing out that Beauty, or rather, the Form of Beauty is what makes beautiful things beautiful. I love a bit of philosophy on a Sunday morning, or in my case, evening! Cheers!

      @ - you are most welcome! I was wondering when you might tackle the larger trunk leader?

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  Місяць тому +1

      @JohnThurlbeck one more season of sacrificial trunk, just to blend all of the taper pruning sites. The final apex is already bent into shape and it's kinda visible throughout the video.

    • @JohnThurlbeck
      @JohnThurlbeck Місяць тому +2

      @ - yes, I thought that, and it has done a great job in building the taper. I look forward to seeing how you tackle the gap you identified over the coming seasons! 👍

    Thank you Fotis for this interesting video. This tree is developing very beautifully, I’m looking forward to seeing more of it in the future. I always value your tips and insights, like your comments regarding differences in the wiring of pines and maples.
    I also appreciate that the space between the trunks, you didn’t describe it as “negative space”, just empty space! I notised this because “negative space” is a term used more than needed in the bonsai world, as if all empty spaces within the silhouette of the tree can be described as negative spaces.
    Regarding the front, I prefer the new option. I think I would mostly prefer something between the two options. I understand though that the differences are very small, just a few degrees.
    Keep up the good work and keep providing content👌💪

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  Місяць тому +1

      The things you say are very similar to my inner thoughts! Could not have said better, what you said about negative space! And about the intermediate front as a better option, is exactly what I've been thinking since I reviewed the footage during editing. I'm impressed!

    This work is dangerous 😮
    The standard way to prune maples is before the leaves fall ✂️
    Pruning after the leaves have fallen can lead to the risk of the tree dying due to the sap not stopping 🍂
    If you want to prune after the leaves have fallen, it is said that cutting the roots at the same time will stop the sap ✂️
    この作業は危険です😮
    もみじの剪定は落葉前が定石です✂️
    落葉後の剪定は樹液が止まらず枯れる危険性があります🍂
    もし、落葉後に剪定したいなら同時に根を切ると樹液が止まるとされています✂️

    • @ArkefthosBonsai

      @chrisgawkowski3908 when nothing is mentioned, it is ALWAYS within 2 weeks before the video upload. When I do longer timeline videos I always mention the month and year of the footage, as I did with this video as well. If the timing of a procedure is important, I always give a detailed explanation. So Chris, if nothing is mentioned assume it happened in the last 2 weeks! Cheers man!
