      He probably assumed he’s against a good Jack or flush draw… obviously seeing the holdings it’s a bad play but in the moment you’re happy to take down the pot against flush draws and maybe get called by KJ or J10 thinking you’re bluff shoving with flush draw of your own

      @@johnshannon2033 there are plenty of pros but it's an overall unfulfilling thing to do, at best you can compare it to playing chess professionally. it's also very non-transferable (I know, someone heard about some poker guy who got hired at wall st, so I'll say it's slightly transferable) and the amount of money you can make is extremely capped even if you become one of the best. the "personal freedom" is also overrated, you have to absolutely love the game to study enough to be competitive, unless you are in a lucky niche where you get to farm some soft games for a good amount of money.

      Love the game .. but as soon as I start playing a lot and grinding.. it's boring, unhealthy and well a grind. Unless you are a higher stakes crusher then it's different I guess mainly because you don't have to grind endless hours.
      As a recreational activity though.. I still love it.

    In live poker the overbet river bluff frequencies are so low I'm probably folding there the vast majority of the time but it's always tough (talking about that first hand).

    What is he trying to accomplish with that all in? To get called by AK? Nobody is ever calling there with AK

      Why would AJ/A8 be calling and not 44? In reality Brandon has the worst hand you CAN call with (not including hands with redraws to straights/flushes, AJ of diamonds for example. AJ off suit is a fold for sure.)
      What he was trying to achieve with that bet was to get all sets worse than a set of jacks and all semi made hands with redraws into flushes and straights to fold. But it was an incredibly stupid way to go about it, should have been a pot sized bet or max 300k.

    I will never understand a check raise overbet with a relatively small pot when you dont even have anything close to the nuts! The ones who can call you are the only the very strong ones so it's a lose2 situation!

      Running it twice is neither good nor bad. You have the same EV, you just have lower variance.

      I was thinking about it since Thomas knew he what Brandon had before he said 2 times. If you can get two cards to potentially split the pot you definitely want to go 2 times(assuming you won’t hit the Ace both times).
      A break even is a huge win for the guy with 6%. A break even would sting if you had 94% but losing it would be devastating.
      I’m not sure what I would do in both positions other than we always did one time.

      @@billybegood466 the announcer guy said on a different stream this so I’m stealing, but if you have a literal one outer, your percent of winning is 2-3%. If you run it twice you have zero chance of hitting it twice. So there has to be some change in EV depending on the situation

      @@stevemygoodman7809 Look at it like this: If you run it once, and the other person hits that 2-3%, then you lose 100% of the pot. Whereas running it twice guarantees half. So that's why the EV stays the same. Because 2% of the time you lose the entire pot running it once.

    stupidest check raise shove ever; AND he asked "what do you have?". Let's see pocket 8's, pocket J's, pocket 4's and Aces (rare but case card could happen), and A8 or AJ beats you. All those hands can be played similarly to what Brandon did. Nevermind, 9 10 of diamonds may gamble for those odds. A 90k on top of 77k would give him the info he needs. THIS IS NOT a TOURNEY Thomas! Moreover, calling a 3 bet with A4 off suit out of position?...YOU Deserved it.
