As a boy living in Dunbar during the 1960`s, i used to play on top of the castle, plenty of access then and in the cove below. If i remember correctly, in those days there used to be chains fastened into the castle waterline and i thought that this was something to do with the old dungeons. Happy days.
47 years ago, when I was knee high to a grasshopper, I went to Dunbar, courtesy of Nazareth house in Edinburgh. You could see the harbour mouth from the swimming pool (yes, there was slides, even then) I sat on a tiled ledge absolutely riveted. Watching the fishing boats coming out. There was a play area with ground to air cannons that you could sit on, with a wheel that you turned with a handle to move it from side to side. Dunbar was my first seaside experience and I still remember it now. Unforgettable!
Spent a month back in Edinburgh in 2019 with my sister who hadn't been back since 1984. We went to Dunbar one.day and.like you fell in love with the peace, beauty and tranquility of Dunbar Harbour and Castle. Thanks for bringing back the memories. 👍
I've been there once a year or so ago i got the bus directly from Edinburgh its a really nice journey going through small towns like Haddington and Bellhaven where the beer is made. You are correct Dunbar is a beautiful wee place. When i visited Dunbar i walked around the harbour. You can also get the borders train from Waverly Station to Tweedbank then get the bus from Tweedbank to Melrose. I did that journey and it is such lovely place to visit i walked around the Abbey ruins. You can also get the borders bus from Waterloo place to Galashiels then you can get the connection to Melrose, or Selkirk and other wee towns in the borders and it is such a picturesque place to visit and enjoy.
Dunbar harbor!! 💙 such a quaint place. I always stop there on my, Tour du East Lothian 😉 The old harbor, is the best coffee rest spot, ever! 😊 Great, great video, love your enthusiasm, Tony! and you have the best narrator voice 🤗 I'm betting it would be a wonderful place to raise a child and find some quiet ..say hi, to the ladies of the house hello from Denmark 🌸 🌱
What a great day out, would so love to live there! I love castles and would have wanted to get in there somehow, such a great video or a beautiful area.
Lovely day for a video. I geek out about walking through history, when it happens. I love knowing there are other kindred souls about. Thanks for another wonderful show and tell, Tony!😀
Amazing how quiet, calm and peaceful the harbor was on your visit….made even more beautiful with the lovely weather. Easy to see why you are smitten with it. Fantastic, can’t wait to see the next episode 🙋♀️
I loved a wee visit every now & then to The black Agnes pub was a favourite for a bite to eat. Don’t know about these days but 15 years ago it was up there on the favourite list x
Always wanted to visit after hearing stories from my dad of how beautiful it is. He visited as a 12 year old with the sea cadets from sunderland and stayed 3 nights in 1962 somewhere in the harbour may of even been 1 of those buildings behind you. He always wanted to revist
Well done Tony for visiting Dunbar , we have a caravan at Seton Sands and make a point at least once a month to visit Dunbar , you'll have to mention John Muir the next visit. Love your videos thankyou sooo much 💕👍 xx
And yet another Scot doing vlogs around Scotland!?! Do you know Dean Nicholson??? He & Nala are from Dunbar . . . just along the waterfront {well, she is actually - originally - from Bosnia/Croatia area! - They are presently in Poland!!! And then there is Steve Marsh - now living in Montrose - whom I recently "discovered" on UA-cam!! As a former resident of Aberdour/North Queensferry/Rosyth/and Inverkeithing . . . and not having been back to Scotland for over 14 years . . I am SO excited to revisit many of the places I've been, and thrilled (and a bit sad) to see those wonderful places I didn't get to experience!! Looking forward to seeing what your videos have to offer!! THANKS for sharing. 🤩😎
Dunbar is beautiful and full of history. It has a good chippy as well. Need to get back there as I haven't been in years. Great video as always Tony! :)
I love the way you are so informative in your videos. I’ve learned a lot from the way you simply tell the story of each place you visit. This page is what I’ve been looking for to learn more about your beautiful country. I love Edinburgh but hope you do more videos of different places to visit.
Thank you so much for this. I love being near the sea and do not often have the opportunity. You just gave me that, and a small trip as well. Blessings. You are in a great club of us that struggle getting words out, lol.
Dunbar Harbour is a wee hidden gen away from Edinburgh and my grans sister lived up one of the streets from the Harbour I used to get my seafood from a Italian restaurant that a friends family had And the food was excellent and delicious and was all Scottish Italian cuisine
Watching with my gf, about 3 mins in I joked there should be a drinking game for 'beautiful'. :D We reached a dozen imaginary shots by the time you mentioned it, that was funny. :) As Zandain said, your enthusiasm is awesome. Another place to add to the must-visit list. Btw, if you like old churches, Edrom Parish Church in Duns is worth a visit, it has a chunk of the old Norman church at the back, and some of the gravestones are most intriguing.
Absolutely loved this video, because I love harbors, and this was a beaut. I would really like to see you go out to Dunnottar Castle, though it is a bit of a drive from Edinburgh as well, but man the history there is so wonderful and if you have the fortitude to hike up to the castle, they have maintained it so well and the views are stunning.
How beautiful was that!!! I’m totally relaxed just watching the video!!! Thank you! I wish you could go up to the off limits area too!! What’s up there 🧐lol
I always love your videos, but this was spectacular! When you were planning the outer harbor with the water so blue..... Wow. I took a screenshot of it, I was so captivated. ANOTHER must see place for our Edinburgh visit! We're up to 6 days there now & thinking about 7! Truth be told, I'd already be living in Edinburgh if our $ was at least equal to your £!
My late parents had a caravan at Eyemouth, and we had a few afternoons in Dunbar! Lovely wee town! You picked a great day for filming! I remember your daughter and I share the same birthday 😉😉
The Battle of Dunbar is the intersection of where my family connection and Scotland meet. John MacBean, a Jacobite was captured, put in chains and shipped to Boston along with others and sold into servitude finally making Exeter New Hampshire home ( he did that quite successfully ). Nice video Tony. PS; Pre- Happy Birthday to Lillian. That year that flew by......they go even faster 😁
I love these. Thank you for always showing so much beauty. It always makes my day. Ever consider narrating audio books? I'd pay good money just to listen to you doing the alphabet.
Great video, I’m planning a visit in my camper an in a couple of weeks time, I’m hoping to learn to paddle board in the sheltered waters of the harbour, if it’s aloud haha ...
I am happy you had a nice day for a walk around Dunbar harbour, fishing from Dunbar harbour is next to nothing almost totally redundant compared to times gone by when the old harbour was wall to wall fishing boat's and it was a major part in the income of the town, today Dunbar is a fishing 👻👻👻🎣 town with youth crime ,with alcohol and drugs becoming a major problem , it also has a major problem with youth vandalism fueled by alcohol with drugs catching up as the main cause of crime in Dunbar
Will you please stop putting so many beautiful places to visit on your channel! I’m arriving on Wednesday and there’s no way I’ll see everything…. I’m just going to have to come again. Best wishes to you all x
When your words fail you...voice over...lol. Not always knowing things is part of the charm of your videos. It might be worth doing a video on the RNLI. If you contact them they might take you out on a training "shout".

Stay out of my castle

Don’t blink, Lilian will be grown up before you know it. Take in every moment of her childhood.
Beautiful place! The stone seems to be a different color than I've seen before - red and cream color. I wonder where the stone came from?
I really like Dunbar 👍
Take up scuba diving and sneak up there from the water side. Lol
Looking for some help with fishing Dunbar and what I am likely to catch
Dunbar? Was there no a big battle there when Oliver Cromwell gave the Scots a good thrashing?
When your words fail you...voice over...lol. Not always knowing things is part of the charm of your videos. It might be worth doing a video on the RNLI. If you contact them they might take you out on a training "shout".
