- Walter Cronkite hosts and narrates this short documentary about the allied armies closed in on Germany and the role the capture of the Bridge at Remagen played in that.
Apologies for the three or four minute stretch where the audio is variably low, and variably high.
My Father was wounded in that battle as part of the "Black Hawk" Division He was also awarded the Bronze Star. Like most vets he did not talk about it much. Thank you for posting this video !
The only Vets that DO talk about such battles are the phonies/Stolen Valor. A fake Seal I know never stops lying about killing VC alone with his bare hands. SALUTE to your father!
Grateful for your family's sacrifices and you're no doubt aware of the pain we gave here in England.
P.S.- The American GI running on the pontoon bridge proves you don't need expensive track shoes to run like Jessie Owens... :)
I had audio trouble- volume really low at some points. The music for these shows really sucketh! Doesn't Walter rate music without Xylophones and cheery tunes while watching a war film??? Thank you for this post though-SALUTE!

The audio sounds pretty good to me and I suffer from hearing loss.

The bridge survived attempts to blow it up is a testament to German pre-war engineering and strength of German steel.
