I have struggled with watercolor, I think I am confused by watching so many different artist . I need to stick with you! You made it finally click. Thankyou❤
We all have different approaches that’s for sure, and I appreciate you watching my videos and getting value out of my teaching, but I do encourage you to take as much information in from all artists that connect with you. 🥰 be a sponge and soak up all the information haha. But don’t forget about me 😂🌲
Rarely do that- comment videos... But your content is sooooo great: the ambiance, your voice and how you do what you do. Love it very much. Greetings from Germany ❤
I am a newbie when it comes to watercoloring. I have watched so many videos of other artists, but you are by far the best teacher. I love your talent and your voice is so calming. And I say that because I have caught myself holding my breath while trying to paint. But when I watch your lessons, it's very calming. I hope I am making sense. Lol. But I want to show you one of the paintings I did that suppose to look like yours ,but it's no were like yours. Please let me know what ya think please. Thank you for sharing with us.
Hi Rhonda! I'm flattered that you think so highly of me. There are many wonderful teachers here on UA-cam, but it's always finding the ones that you can connect with the most for a great learning experience. I'm glad you've found that here on my channel. I am still learning how to navigate an educational experience through video and what viewers want to see. It's been wonderful, and reading comments like yours makes me feel like I'm actually helping and making a difference in ones' learning journey. And yes, you make total sense to me! I've been a lot of comments saying my content is calming. This makes me SO HAPPY because it's exactly what I've been trying to achieve. It's what I would want in a learning environment, so I'm trying to give that to those who love it too. If you'd like to share any of your work, then I think the best place is IG. I'm active on there at the moment, but I've been checking for messages and comments to make sure I get back to anyone taking the time to reach me. I'd love to see your work, though. :)
I just found your channel and this video is amazing. It's like a meditation (which helped with my anxiety). The painting turned out awesome. I want to learn more about this type of painting but I'm not a great painter.
Hello and welcome, Scott! Glad the video could help with anxiety. Providing a calming aesthetic is part of my intention in creating these videos. And you can become great by painting! Anyone can become good at almost anything with practice and perseverance.
I too am a photographer of Nature/Landscapes. I love the way that you painted these trees and I'll be watching more of your videos, to learn more. I'd love as I'm sure you do too, to paint some of the Nature shots that we've taken. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me and others to paint.
Hello fellow photographer! Agreed. Many shots I’d like to paint. Do you find yourself thinking about color from a photographers point of view when you paint? I do. Don’t know how to explain it, but it seems different. Thank you for watching and leaving me a comment. 🌲
Thanks Jackie I did my first landscape painting after watching your videos You are a good teacher one thing that I like about you is you are so down to earth
Thanks Jackie, that was really helpful and informative. Ta for showing in real time and not adding any unnecessary music etc, your voice alone is all one needs. Thank You for sharing your talent
You're welcome! I started with music, but quickly realized I didn't like it and found it too distracting. Thank you so much for watching and leaving me some feedback. Appreciated.
I feel the same way about stepping back from platforms and clear my my to concentrate on my own talents of watercolor. I’ve always admired misty scenes and stumbled across your videos here. I love your techniques and explanation of each step. You’re fabulous and encouraging ❤ Thank you, Jackie!!!
Right?! Stepping away from IG has been great for me, personally. As artists in 2023+ it's good to step back and focus on our own creations. So much inspiration is a blessing and a curse haha. Thank you for spending time with me on my channel and finding value in my content. Greatly appreciated.
I loved this video and no, it was not too long. I think I finally get the mist affect!. And, by the way, I love your voice!!, your easy way of expressing yourself is very effective for teaching. Thank you for all that you share with us 🙏🏼❤️
@@JackiePeacock you're welcome . I'm going to try this painting soon. I find this video totally mellow and relaxing. Then I heard the rain falling. I'm giving serious thought to setting this as my bedtime app.
This is the sixth day in the row I keep on learning from your videos (they say practice makes perfect? :))! I really do love your style of painting! Also - after a stressful day, putting your video on and adding on background some music with chirping bird and forest sounds is just AWESOME! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge - really do appretiate it a lot!
Yes yes yes. Practice does make perfect, or at least more skilled, lol. Omg I love that. Thank you for sharing. It's so cool to hear this, as I usually do this as well with other UA-cam videos. Thank you!
Hi Jackie ,. another one of my favorites. Alot of great tips and explanations. I love ,. ..(and see it consistently in your tutorials), you use a square dish for your paint ,.. I assume it is porcelain? I also notice you have different consistencies of pigment ,. can you explain how you came about doing this and why you find this helpful?😄
Aww so glad you liked in Lori! The dishes are actually enamel pans. I purchased them from an Etsy shop called, TirraLyra :) As far as paint consistency, I tend to go back and forth with loading my brush with more water or more paint and less water. If I have more water on my brush here's my process: I dip my brush into my paint mix, then dip it into my water, then taking my brush I rub it against the rim of the glass to remove any excess water. For a thicker and richer paint consistency here's my process: I will dip my paint brush directly into my damp paints and then move my brush around the paint dish just so I can work it into the bristles; that way the paint is quite thick on my brush. Not sure if that's the best answer... but I am working on some free downloading worksheets for these random techniques I do. I'm thinking pictures and a step by step might be useful.
l like your conifer trees as l too like to paint them both in oil & W/C, Your mountains are good too , but l do not think they are as precise as your trees. l mean geology wise l think they could be a bit better but everyone has style ,and method they like. l am glad l discovered your site, as l like to paint tall conifer trees with much more realistic details than the easy Cmas tree style that so many use. l use a variety of pointed Chinese brushes. l paint our Colorado mountain scenes .
Omg, every time you talk about perfectionism, reference photos, being frustrated… it’s like you’re talking about me. I have identical issues and my creative side wants to do impressionistic art, but my mind rarely shuts off and I keep building the details, trying to achieve realism even though I don’t really like realism… such a paradox of mine and I struggle a lot with it

This is the best tutorial on how to do misty trees and I have watched almost all in UA-cam! Thank you!!!!!
I’m glad you’ve been able to connect with it. I hope you get the painting you’re after! Thank you so much for the feedback. 🌲
Cannot get enough of your paintings and your style, I pray that you are right so I will be

Thank you, Steve. I appreciate that. I hope I continue to do so.
And I'm so glad to read that you've painted your first landscape!
Your trees are gorgeous! Also love how you styled your background. Beautiful attention to detail! ❤ 😊🥰
Thank you so much, Cheri! I love the details haha. Happy painting 🌲🤍

Thanks for the extended tutorial. The paper towel technique is beginner friendly ❣️

Woohoo! I'm happy to hear it. I hope you continue to paint the scenes you're after.
I loved watching you. I've never painted and I appreciate how you tell what you're using and doing.
Thank you so much! I love hearing that. I hope to continue to do so. And I hope you get to painting!
Thank you, I loved this tutorial
Good advice. In my down time I collage! 💚
Thank you, Andrew!
Ooh thats a fun art! Thank you for sharing 🌲
I thought that was very lovely and most informative. I am inspired for my Christmas cards this year. Thank you!
Ooh I love that! What a great idea. And it’s approaching so fast lol
So beautiful Jackie! Look forward to trying it out, thank you!😀
So Beautiful!!
Great video Jackie! You've literally unlocked the secret to misty trees❤
Haha it's one of many ways to achieve the misty effect. I think it's a nice and easy way to manipulate the mist. Happy painting, Maria!
My favorite trees are the Norway Spruce ,and Douglas Fir .
Love the Douglas Fir!
I love the misty paintings. And your voice. You are a female Bob Ross😂
Thank you so much 😀 I love the Bob Ross comments haha

Wonderful techniques. Thank you ❤
You are so welcome! Thank you! 🤍🌲
Your watercolors are really beautiful
That's a wonderful comment, thank you. I appreciate that. :)
Love it
Thank you I enjoyed it 😊.
I appreciate you watching 🤍🌲
Beautiful.
Thank you 🤍🌲
I wish I could make one tree look close to yours!!!
Don't give up! And don't get too frustrated. Keep on painting them and experimenting with paint to water ratio. :)
Thank you! I am going to try this. 😊
I hope you do!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
BTW do you prefer rough, or cold pressed W/C paper to get the texture you need for the broken foliage look?
I always use Arches cold press. I’ve tried the rough style and I like it, but I always go back to the cold press.
I don’t like hot press.

I was going to put a picture in the comments of a painting, but I dont how. Lol
I'd like to see your work (assuming it is your painting)
@@I.M.SofaKingdom , not sure how to take that comment. Why would anyone put a painting up that they didn't do?
Sorry, practicing and one day I will be nearly as good as you!!.❤
I believe in you!
Why do you have the same tones in your mid ground and foreground???????
It’s a monochrome painting 😬

Exactly!! Haha couldn’t agree more. I do love the more realistic landscapes, but there’s a fine line between wanting a photograph and a painting. 🤍🌲
