    My '4 techniques to paint pine trees' video is the most popular video on my channel, so I thought I'd release a more detailed, real time version of one of my favourite pine trees to paint. Enjoy!

      Adding drk green shadows under the clumps of branches creates a nice effect.

    Very pretty evergreen Julia! Fun fact: years ago when I was a hairstylist if we added darker color to gain more shadow we referred to it as low lights to avoid confusion for our clients. Highlights was used to describe lighter colors in the blonde family. My stylist still uses these terms today. The other day I was listening to a tutorial and the artist also called her darker colors low lights. I thought that was great. Blessings to you and everyone!

    Hi! Have been watching quite a few of your videos and I noticed in this one that your brush has a really nice pointed tip. I didn't see the type of brush you were using in your comments so I thought I'd ask. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials, very relaxed and enjoyable!

    Ever since I've seen Bob Ross do his happy little trees I was hooked but I have found it very challenging to do in acrylic paint and in watercolors. So far you're explanation And demonstration is the easiest to follow and I'm pretty happy with my one little tree. I will practice a few more tonight. I thought they would be so much easier.Lol. Thank you

    This tutorial was very helpful indeed. I can’t believe how much affect adding the black made on the dimensionality of your branches. I know trees are supposed to be easy to do but I personally don’t find them so easy. I appreciate how you break it all down in an intelligible fashion. Thank you, Merry Christmas 🎄 🥰

    This is a very helpful video! Have a brush very close to one you are using with this long point “not a rigger” and going to try this one!
    Paint consistency looks more like “tea” & do you tap it on paper towel before do light tapping? Still practicing tree technique. Ty!!

    Hi Julia - I’m new to your channel and want to let you know how helpful your tutorials have been in my return to water colors! However, I do have one constructive comment - I think your “pine trees” would be better served if you referred to them as - “Evergreens”. “Pine” trees are just one kind of distinct “Evergreen”. I know that you’re not trying to do botanical renderings but I find, that they often may more closely resemble evergreens - other than Pine. Now, I also know, that in the greater scheme of things - this is just not that big a deal but “Evergreen” - should you choose to use it - is a more generic term and allows you to do whatever floats your boat! Without comment?
    Regardless, thank you for sharing your many talents and tips!😊

    • @JuliaLisArt
      @JuliaLisArt  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ellen! Thank you for your suggestion! Though you are correct, most people refer to evergreens as 'pine trees' so I use that key word for the algorithm haha. Thanks for watching!

    • @JuliaLisArt
      @JuliaLisArt  2 місяці тому

      Never claimed I was a pro. I say it all the time in my videos that I have no formal training and that if you want to know about color theory, this channel ain't for you.

  • @peterplantec7911

    Julia, I am a a fan of yours. Truly I am, but this was not one of your better trees. I live in the Pacific North West and we do not have, nor have I ever seen a conifer where the branches go straight out from the trunk. Also that is a pathetic trunk. A tree that tall would likely have a more massive trunk. That said, I like your darker shadow green and and the random suggestion. I know you do better trees than this. I remain your loyal fan.

    • @JuliaLisArt
      @JuliaLisArt  7 місяців тому

      Ah my friend - there are a lot more 'pathetic trunks' where this came from LOL. I personally love this tree but everyone of course is entitled to their own opinion. This is an old tutorial so I hope things have improved since then!
