Not to be biased because I'm Filipino but you too can hear between international and Filipino singers so you can tell the difference the reason behind is the passion of Filipinos in singing plus the big factor we hear those international singers so we can learn techniques then imitate and improve.
Of all the exceptionally talented Filipino singers we have, I believe it is Lea Salonga who has shone the brightest. She has put the Philippines to the forefront internationally…

Lol We Filipino knows that many can sing higher even male can hit higher notes in Philippines.
In a Filipino parties, when there is a karaoke, you can hear singers selecting and singing the most difficult songs in the selection and rarely those many singers will fail to hit the high notes. It is so normal, one fail will certainly going to have lots of smiling faces.

THere are also bad singers who annoys their neighbor so much but they kept singing late night karaoke but there's one in their group that's so good.

It's not her specialty but she can, used to hear it at times in SOP and I think Party Pilipinas, along with Regine, Ogie and Jano, they have segments the 4 of them together.

I find it funny that katrina can sing all of the song that has been shown in the video 😂 Filipino singers are all amazing!!
That goes the same as Morisette. Difference is katrina can do better riffs & runs, morisette can hit higher whistle. Katrina’s voice also sharper/ more piercing, while mori’s is rounder & more resonant. Katrina isnt the only one.
I also find it funny that if Katrina sings all of these songs she will sound like a cat being strangled with her tasteless overdone runs 🤣🤣🤣

Most of the notes are the same. But original singers have something special about their voices. For example, Fantasia... she belts I believe with her gospel raspy voice. Tori's melisma, Whitney's strong range, and penetrating vibrato, and Mariah's pleasing resonant belts. But Filipino singers are really great at Belting... they really belt high... If black people are good at soul singing, Filipinos are great at belting. I hope they will learn how to MASTER all the vocal registers.

my dad says the standard of singing in PH is so high that he just realize it when he was able to watch a live concert in the US and start comparing them to the live performances in PH.
This is fantastic! My only comment is this. To me as a singer I give mad props to all. I myself am a belter so to hear others of my kind singing that high is amazing. Those in falsetto are great too I just think theres a difference between Mariah Careys falsetto and her belting. It's a difference and preference so don't curse me out, because I already said I love and appreciate all of their voices.❤❤❤

The current standard for "good singing" has sadly been limited to only the ability to hitting high notes. It's like saying an alto will never be as good as a singer as compared to a soprano.
The poster clearly doesn't understand what makes a vocalist a great vocalist. He's discrediting altos, tenors, baritones, and basses. I know sopranos that are average singers and I know tenors who are superb singers.
True that they can sing on a higher note and so is a lot of other people. Moreover, higher doesn't always mean better.

Charice Pempenco was one of the best singers we had in the Philippines it’s just sad that she chose to change her life that made the producers not to take her anymore and not give her chances to sing again . I don’t think her changing boy being a girl originally is not a sin just that it became the reason why she was out of projects now . Maybe it’s her fate that she can’t stop . She’s the first Filipina who receives stardom internationally that even Lea Salonga would agree and this saddened me that she’s not in that place anymore 😢. Anyway, don’t underestimate Filipinos voice because even the beggars and homeless can sing very well ,no proper training needed 😅

See, that's when I really wish if only one top producer in the U.S, with a plethora of artists being backed up by this person, come straight to the country and just fish at least one or two maybe all of these wonderful divas out of the water, because they too have the voices, the heart, and soul to sing beyond their generation.
It happened. David Foster is a top producer and he sponsored Charice. She started showing up in concers, Oprahs show, on a TV show like Glee. What happened after that i have no idea, but she had lots of opportunities.
