EDIT 3/25/2023: There are a couple of things that need to be corrected here! As some of you may have seen from Backseat's newest stream highlight, I was completely wrong about Golden Freddy! Basically, I let my preconceived assumptions of the game mislead me into thinking that the random 1 in 100,000 check happens when you look at cam 2B. In reality, it tries the check EVERY SINGLE SECOND you're in the night, and if it succeeds, you'll see that the poster has changed the next time you look at it. You can even see the change instantly happen, if you're watching the poster when it succeeds! This was found by Phisnom after Backseat managed to get TWO Golden Freddy encounters in a single playthrough of the game. If my version of the Golden Freddy event had been real, this feat would've been nigh-impossible with those unbelievably low odds, and I'd be fearful for the man who used up his entire lifetime's worth of luck on FNAF. Instead, it's just an extremely impressive occurence, with the added benefit that he'll probably still be okay walking underneath pianos and safes and whatnot. You can find out more in the video itself! ua-cam.com/video/vdgV_rGzML4/v-deo.html This just proves my point when it comes to things like this: Misinformation is SO easily spread, even when you don't mean to. If you're using secondhand information to come to a conclusion, be sure to double-check as much of the information as you can! There's another Golden Freddy-related correction I need to make, but this one's...a little less justifiable. Whenever I referenced the odds of both Golden Freddy events, I also gave the actual percentage chance of them happening. When recording, I caught that I had put an extra zero in both of them that would need to be corrected. Happens a lot with me, I'm prone to confusing myself with simple math somehow. I typically end up catching and correcting these at some point in the process. Issue is, when it was time to do the retakes...I tried to fix them by ADDING another zero instead??? Basically, both odds shown in the video are entirely wrong. There were some top comments that pointed out the mistake a long time ago, and I even replied to them to keep them at the top, but I don't see them anymore. So to correct these: The per-second odds of the Golden Freddy poster appearing are 1 in 100,000, or A 0.001% CHANCE. The odds of the Golden Freddy jumpscare happening on the game over screen are 1 in 10,000, or A 0.01% CHANCE. Not whatever stupid numbers I gave in the video. I made this video at a point when stress and exhaustion were pretty high, so there were a lot of embarrassing mistakes like that while the video was being made. I really wish I would've caught all of them for the final version, but all I can do is correct myself now. Sorry for spreading misinformation of my own! I'll continue to try and be as accurate as possible in my videos, correcting errors ASAP! (Except for the typo in the thumbnail. I think it's hilarious and refuse to fix it. I love how many people don't even notice.) ORIGINAL COMMENT: Hey everyone! Thanks for waiting so patiently for a new video! This was a bit of a nightmare to make; not because of the content, but simply because of circumstances around the time that were outside of my control. Speaking of which, this was recorded shortly after the usual recording area went under construction, so I had to make do with what I had. It's definitely some of the roughest audio I've produced, (not to mention I'm pretty sure the excess static in the video did something funky with the bitrate) but I tried my best to make it as clear and enjoyable as possible. Hopefully I did okay! This video's also very numbers-intensive, so I tried to have a little more fun with it than usual. Also, real quick since I feel like somebody is going to bring it up: There is NO evidence that Five Nights at Freddy's has ever had anti-piracy. There's nothing related to it in the game's exe, and a bait torrent (like Game Dev Tycoon) has never been found. My best guess is that it was a rumor that someone just decided to make up that got further spread through Top 10 UA-camrs. Take any claims otherwise with a grain of salt. Jumpscaring the player as an anti-piracy measure seems very silly for a horror game, anyway...
Baxi Tabaxi TBF Baldur’s Gate is literally a DnD-branded game, so it’s trying to emphasize/highlight its connection to the tabletop experience it’s based on, so using random ints and animating the dice instead of using arbitrary percentage thresholds on a simpler rand() function is an easy way to make that connection without changing much.
19:47 Could you imagine if Freddy was in your room when the power went out, and then he just casually walks past you and out the door like “Excuse me, need to move onto my other attack phase.”
Can I mention how funny it is that all of the camera feeds are still images no matter how the characters move, then you have Foxy booking it down the hall at mach 3? That is the best anxiety injection for new players I've ever seen.
I see, so the "hole in the wall" thing was just people not noticing freddy has already entered and then freddy successfully hitting the 25% chance after. Damn that's unlucky.
@@coffeetree_ Freddy will sometimes "wait" to attack the player after entering the office, which can create a scenario where he attacks with both of the doors closed and without the player knowing he's already inside. This made some people believe he could bypass the doors through a hole in the wall or something else.
@@coffeetree_ The only way is to avoid letting Freddy into the office in the first place. Basically just shut the right door every time you look away from the East Hall Corner (if Freddy is there). If you fail to do this and hear Freddy laugh, that's usually an indicator that he slipped into the room.
@Liam Patterson I mean... I don't wanna be that guy, but Game Theory proved that it was the exact minimum wage for the year the game is based in, but go off I guess
20:24 This would have been the stuff of grade school legends twenty years ago. Imagine that you're nine or ten years old, you're playing FNaF, and after you get a game over one time, you get a second jump-scare with a new off-color animatronic, and the game _closes itself._ No one would believe you. It's like finding Mewthree under the truck in Pokémon.
19:18 just got this really funny mental image of freddy getting in the office at like, 1am and then failing every single jumpscare check so the night guard is just sitting staring at him.
He wouldn't be able to succeed if the guard just turned around and looked at him, though. He'd have to wait for the others. Of course, he's also already inside if you tried just leaving the doors shut.
Guard: So... aren't you trying to kill me or something? You're right here. Freddy: Well, yeah... But my processors aren't rolling numbers I like. I mean, really - who moves for anything less than 4? Guard: 4... what? ... ... Freddy: I'm lonely, ok?
In phone guy's defense he immediately took back the "playing dead" thing. Waving it off with a "They'd probably just stuff an endoskeleton inside of you."
I find it hilarious that the animatronics movement is based on what are essentially dice rolls. Like imagine being the security guard, and freaking the fuck out meanwhile the animatronics are on the show stage like "Ok Bonnie, roll for initiative."
i'd like to imagine that every time your shift ends, you just walk down the hallway and all the animatronics are like "awh man cmon dude i can't believe we lost again" and you're like "yeah you can try next time, goodnight guys"
I always imagined they just froze in the last pose they where in, so if foxy was in that pose outside the pirate cove with his neck at a 90% angle, and 6am hit, he'd just hold on the pose even when the night guard was walking out of the building. Basically piemations fnaf 2 animation when 6am hit
@@C.C.Sinclaire that or his primal sense just KNOWS he's right there and it seems way too risky to move. Imagine if an unpredictable, artificial, 8 foot tall bear that is actually (essentially) a nightmare metal skeleton that is possessed by a dead child just stands barely 1 foot away from you. What the hell do you do? What if when I reach for the door button that thing just pounces on me? I can understand why they'd freeze in place
Y'know, this explanation makes it more obvious why Scott thought 20/20/20/20 mode was impossible. It really does seem so, looking at it from a technical perspective. But, well, humans find a way.
Bonnie: *rolls a 10* Game: Get in the closet Golden Freddy: *rolls a 1* Game: You instantly teleport into the office and destroy the night guard's existence
The “hint” about not moving and going limp is actually rendered moot in that same call and next line by Phone Guy. He tells the player never mind because the animatronics might think they’re an empty suit and they would likely try to force an endoskeleton into the player.
Imagine you actually tried that, and when they catch you, instead of killing you by stuffing you in one of the suits, they kill you by trying to shove an endoskeleton down your throat.
Same here! This was really interestin' of a video (even if it did bring all the FNaF-related stuff out of whatever dark recesses of my mind I buried it in years ago), and I really wanna see more. Also, yes, I know I'm a few days late to replyin' here, lol.
God this is fascinating. So everyone's actually been doing the cameras wrong the whole time. They should've kept the camera on Freddy rather than Foxy and kept flipping it up to keep both of them stationary. Then again, there's no audio cue to show that Foxy is coming so the game essentially funnels you into eventually using a camera other than 4b to see if Foxy is on the way, giving Freddy the chance to hop into the room. In that way, Markiplier's strategy of left light to check for Bonnie, close right door, check camera for Foxy (forcing Freddy to try his attack and be deflected by the door), then open right door and use the light to check for Chica, rinse and repeat, is exactly the optimal strategy. Other than that, it's hoping your timing is on point.
For Nights 1-6, I would actually frequently check the show stage in order to keep Freddy there. It’s cool to learn that this strategy was actually pretty useful.
No, not everyone. Most people that have attempted 20/20/20/20 mode have not done this, but the first person to do it did and Markiplier copied his strategy. But that strategy is terrible. It consumes a lot more power than necessary and since you have to pan the camera to the right door to close it every time you want to flip up the camera, you aren't able to check Foxy as often as you would otherwise. Doing it this way, even with perfect inputs, will occasionally result in a loss. The actual optimal strategy would be to pan left, check the left light for Bonnie, flip up the camera for Freddy, pan right, check the right light for Chica, etc., closing the right door to check on Foxy every ~20-30 seconds.
@@TheGamesReal My strategy was exactly that but without checking on Foxy at all. Somehow I was fast enough for him to never attack me, but not too fast that my power ran out
Na, foxy has an audio cue, you can hear him shuffling towards the office when he is coming, this gives you a short opportunity to close the door so he reverts back to pirates cove, this means you can check Freddy every now and then, then in the small chance that foxy gets out, you can close the left door and continue the night, occasionally checking Bonnie and chica
Imagine actually being the security guard and you finally make it to 6 AM and breathe a sigh of relief only to turn around and realize Freddy was inches behind you and watching you for who knows how long.
May be he just feel numb, like for real, what kind of security guard have to work at such creepy place, where survivor horror become daily life and the paycheck is like minimum wage.
An analysis of FNAF 3, in my opinion, would be a really interesting watch - since Springtrap seems to be one of if not the most complex AI of the series
I'd guess he works in a similar movement system, but with more routes chosen by chance. And whenever you play a sound he has a chance to either go for it or ignore it.
He probably works similarly to the FNAF 1 animatronics, but instead can go on any path he wants. He also has an almost guarantee to follow the audio lure if he's a room away from where you played it. If not, he doesn't hear it. He probably also has a countdown similar to Freddy. That countdown gets faster each night, with it being the fastest on aggressive nightmare mode (aka night 6 on aggressive mode). That countdown is interrupted and reset if he hears the audio lure. It is not if he is too far away to hear the audio lure or if he's in a vent. Once he enters the vent, his countdown will start again, and it will once again be interrupted and reset if the vent is closed. Once he gets to the office and is peering into your soul, he will attack any time you can't see him (i.e. you blackout during a ventilation error or you lift up the maintenance panel), regardless of where his countdown is at the moment.
9:00 I heard all sorts of shit along those lines, including "Freddy can literally teleport." Also, fun fact, since the AI is understood so well, and Clickteam Fusion is block-based, there's like fourteen million Scratch versions that work pretty much 1:1 with the original.
If only, the best recreation by “ParsecGames” was removed a few years ago, me and my brother made a remix of it in our “FNaF is the greatest game of all time” phase, but sadly both of our versions were edited significantly so the original sprites and images that were actually from FNaF were irreversibly converted to crappy drawings
"Bonnie will straight up teleport to different rooms on the left, because he feels like it. That's lore now, that's canon." Bonnie can fold space and time, confirmed
I understand where the misconception of watching Foxy vs camera activity comes from. The last thing Phone Guy says is that Foxy "doesn't like being watched", so because that's the last thing you hear, it seems like it's the big hint. However, it overshadows the *_true_* hint that "he becomes more active if the cameras remain off for long periods of time"
Also I can totally see where the "don't move during blackout" misconception came from, the lines are delivered in the exact same way as the (true) info about Foxy
Nah, gotta' pay attention to people's syntax: "The character seems to get more active when the cameras are off for long periods of time" is an observation, "I guess he doesn't like being watched" is an inference.
Staying still when the lights go out is like the FNAF version of pressing the A button when a pokeball closes. It does nothing, but I guess it feels good to feel like you're in control of a luck-based situation.
The fifth numerical didget of the concept known as "time" typically consisting of 30 hours at a resteraunt chain known for pizza titled after the animatronic known as fredrick
So Markiplier's "I'm not gonna make it because he's still there" was probably caused by Bonnie continuously failing his movement opportunities?? That's really interesting!!!
Looking at the time and night of Mark's poor Bonnie incident, Bonnie's A.I. should be at 3. So he had a 15% chance of moving for his every movement option. Bonnie was just really unlucky and kept rerolling old numbers, and terrified Mark was left suffering.
@@accuratememin poor Mark (and Bonnie I guess? lol). it seems like Bonnie had been moving pretty quickly before then, considering he was at his base difficulty for the night (since it was during Phone Guy's call). And then he just kept failing his initiative rolls. Lol
Back a year after my last comment for two things actually: 1. I think the Foxy myth about him becoming more aggressive when you look at him too much comes from that "I guess he doesn't like being watched, I dunno" quote from the Phone Guy. You could interpret that as "he doesn't like being watched [as he's moving, so he won't move]" _or_ as "he doesn't like being watched [and will become aggressive if you watch him too much]". But this would require completely ignoring the fact that he "becomes more active when the cameras remain *_off_* for long periods of time", so... 2. I found a Steam thread from 2014 talking about Freddy ripping through the poster! Still can't figure out why people thought that. :P
@@jackhumphries1087 TIP: That's why the Bonnie plush is there. If you didn't know, there's a plush on your desk that can either be a Bonnie plush or a Foxy plush. This plush indicates who's on stage - if the plush is Bonnie, *avoid* Pirate's Cove.
@@clonefighter1996 Yup. If you look at Bonnie, he disables the monitor, which prevents you from checking on Toy Freddy/Funtime Foxy or buying the plushies to block Circus Baby/Nightmare Mangle/Nightmare Bonnie
I still find it great how due to how the AI-system works in that game, Bonnie can just break your cameras forever if the AI-level is forced to a very high level.
I do remember people talking about a hole in the office that Freddy could go through, but I remember them saying there was a little vent behind you, not a poster.
So basically, Freddy vibes in his area for the first 6 nights, but if you put him on 20 in custom, he'll become a psychotic murderer sent by the devil to collect your soul for his music box. Edit: i want to delete this comment so badly because of the terrible joke but i cant bring myself to do it cause it feels important being over 10K likes and I wanna feel like i accomplished something significant
Gotta be an awkward convo with the boss like Hey can you swing by and help me move Freddy and the gang, the all froze in the door way and I can't get out
For the “Hole in the wall for Freddy theory” Freddy only moves when he laughs, it’s an audio hint that you can use to tell where he is without using the cameras. When he is in the east hall corner he waits for you to look at a camera that isn’t on him and he will laugh again. When he laughs it takes a few seconds for the attack to actually happen. Markiplier heard the laugh, THEN dropped the door. After the laugh has started you can’t prevent the attack.
While I was unaware about the laugh, I was under the impression that Markiplier got caught due to not closing the door in time. At least, that's what the clip looked like Also, imagine being so popular you spawn an urban myth about a internet sensation
I never believed the whole "freddy pulls a shawshank redemption" theory. I always assumed that freddy enters the room while you looked at a camera and just waits behind you. It's way more believable and in my opinion, way creepier.
I think the reason people thought using the cams too much would get Foxy going is because Phone Guy says "I guess he doesn't like being watched," and generally in horror games something not liking something = them trying to kill you.
It actually is interessting how it's the exact opposite in this game. I guess it just makes more sense that way around, considering he has a curtain and would want to hide in the cove when the cameras are up.
It actually explains what that means with the sentence before but no one seemed to pay attention. "The character in there seems unique and that *he becomes more active if the camera remain off* for long periods of time..I guess he doesn't like being watched?" He hates being watched which is why he only moves when you aren't watching, if you watch he remains hidden in the cove/unmoving (as if being watched makes him so uncomfortable he cannot move/wants to remain hidden, he moves when not watched as he's more comfortable with no prying eyes). The call does say he only moves when the camera is off and states it's because he hates being watched but people only focused only on the last bit interpreting it as "hates being watched=don't look at" which isn't what the full sentence meant at all
ohhh that makes sense! it’s worded very weirdly so it’s easy to think that doing something foxy doesn’t like = bad because it’ll piss him off and he’ll kill you
To be fair, it's not wrong to say, it just needs a bit more context. "He doesn't like being watched, so I usually keep an eye on him to keep him in check," or something to that degree would provide a helpful tip on Foxy's RNG without feeling out of place. Just saying "He doesn't like to be watched," means you either interpret it as "I shouldn't view the camera much," or "I'll stare straight at him just to spite him," neither of which are that great lol.
I would probably say that out of all of them, Freddy is the most sneaky of the four. He doesn’t directly approach the office like Bonnie/Chica. He doesn’t mad charge like foxy. He just sneaks up through the cams, gets to your literal blind spot and waits. He waits for that one moment of inattention to kill you. It’s arguably what makes him the most sinister; he’s very human in his behaviour, which also made Springtrap a memorable villain; he might’ve been limited by the suit and his base desires, but FNAF 3 was a literal knife fight with someone who literally wanted you dead, all the while your degrading mental state, which made a lot more sense in the following games.
If you ever come back to this, I feel like Ultimate Custom Night might be an interesting game in the series to dissect, considering all the characters in it that have unique properties. That is, unless you end up just doing a series-wide video like you suggested here.
Didn't Scott Cawthon himself dissect the animatronic A. I's? He leaked their mechanics out per character until the game was finished, giving people a c h a n c e to know what they're up against. Of course, Scott didn't do it how Tech Rules has done it, so if THAT'S what you mean, then the stage is his to dissect.
@@75JUNAKI No? There's 50 in the selection screen, then there's: -Dee Dee -XOR -Shadow Bonnie -Nightmare Chica -Plushtrap -Minireenas -Bonnet -Lolbit -Fredbear (as a secret jumpscare) -Golden Freddy (in a secret cutscene)
This game almost feels underrated now. Simply because they managed to turn RNG mechanics into something scary. Not knowing when the enemy will strike, only that it's inevitable.
When the game first came out, it was unlike anything we've ever seen in horror games, and, along with Amnesia: The Dark Descent, really helped kickstart and really revolutionize the indie horror game and Let's Play craze. It's just sad that it's been beaten into the ground by now.
that also makes sense about their aggression level by the hint: "the animatronics seem to become more active as the night goes on" and also: "freddy seems to become more active as the week goes on" very sneakily pointing out the aggression mechanic.
All this talking about movement opportunities makes me imagine the animatronics viewing the nights as playing a D&D campaign. "alright, chica, you'll need to roll a nat 20 to get in the night guard's room" "ah, no! he closed the door. Roll your D12 for random placement on the map"
Since the FNAF 1 map was uses in the in-between night mini games in FNAF 3, I expect Afton, while rotting inside Springtrap in the Secret room near the bathrooms, was the DM
I saw a comment somewhere on some other Fnaf video, where it said that when Scott was asked why Bonnie is floating on the office photo, he said "Bonnie does not abide by the rules of time, space, or physics." Probably a good canonical explanation for why he teleports.
I'm pretty sure Markiplier had that issue (15:36) on one of his earlier nights. Bonnie made their way to the office very quickly and stood right outside the door for the majority of the night.
Interesting to learn how they moved. I got lucky on night 3 whereby Foxy ran for me and I didn't have the reserve power to close the door. Foxy got it, but just before the animation finished the power ran out. Seems like power reaching 0% not only disables all AI, but it overrides everything. Got got even more lucky as I reached 6am before Freddy killed me after playing the Toreador March music. Quite literally running out of power saved me and I managed to complete night 3.
Well that seems likely seeing as the game is basically made up of pre rendered images and gifs that reveal or hide themselves over other images or gifs they sometimes override each other but still one of the best games all around in my opinion
That happened to Markiplier in his night 20/20/20/20 video. And, even better, that particular clip of Foxy's attack being cut off was actually linked as an example on the wiki.
Ykno'w, when people say they have "comfort videos" you probably dont expect it to be a video explaining how the AI in the original fnaf game works, but here we are this is probably my ~15th time watching lmao edit: it's up in the 40s now i think i have a problem
I feel like FNAF was a perfect horror arcade game, which was greatly improved upon in the second game. I'd love to see the same deconstruction of FNAF2, only because that game seems to have been made much more complex than its first iteration (anything after those would be pretty redundant, though, since it's all mostly the same after). I'd also love a deconstruction of the VR game, since the mechanics in that one is vastly different than all of the other ones while still building off of the concept of "stay in one place against your will and survive" even more. Either way, a horror game deconstruction series seems like a fantastic idea, FNAF2 or no.
Im not sure how this would work Im pretty sure at 5:00 am they'd just walk back to the Stage as they would at Regular 6:00 am Or maybe they wouldn't? I heard they just attack all Adults on sight at night so they'd probably go back to the Stage at 5 during DST as it isnt Technically "Night" as non DST it would be 6 AM So while you shift Wouldn't end the Animatronics will But thats just a Theory (No im not gonna say it i Don't like MatPat anymore)
'We'll call these three animatronics bullies, because they bully the player, and we'll call the remaining animatronics Foxy, because that's his name' is a good line.
Most people: This is interesting. Me: So what you're telling me is the animatronics move based on dice rolls, and I could potentially make a board game offshoot of this information?
The 1/9/8/7 Golden Freddy jumpscare was actually added post-launch due to a popular fan theory that beating the game on that difficulty would unlock a secret ending.
with the "watch foxy" theory, the reason why everyone thought you had to be on the pirates cove because phone guy says: "he doesn't like being watched" making it seem like you have to watch him specifically
See, I get the exact opposite impression from that quote. Had I played it and heard that line, I would've assumed that watching him triggers his aggression somehow.
@@darkrage1138 You're also ignoring the previous line said before that. "The character in there seems unique in that he becomes more active if the cameras remain off for long periods of time."
@@luigifan4585 Oh, and that quote you just quoted, doesn't change anything about what my comment said. Cameras remaining off, and not looking at HIM are two different things.
Tbh I think a key element in making a horror game character scary is unpredictability. The easier it is understand exactly what an enemy does, under what conditions it does it, and what it can and cannot do, the less terrifying it becomes. I think that's why the fear factor of a game like Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion wears off so quickly and of course applies to this video especially.
The dude likes to lurk in the dark. Your room is essentially two inches of darkness close to being the room of an angsty emo teen that is going through a phase. Not to mention how stupid the security guard is for shoving an entire screen right on his face whenever he's looking at it, effectively negating his vision of the entire room. Have that and a bunch of humongous teddy bear robots of doom and you have a wonderful formula for a Scott Cawthon game.
Ask any skilled magician how they avoid having an entire audience see the sleight of hand being pulled off right in front of them and you'll get an answer akin to "The Art of Distraction." In this case Freddy takes advantage of a moment of inattentiveness to what he's doing (not watching his corner in the camera + the door being open) to move into position. When you're got three other killer bots running around, probably making plenty of noise as they move, just being still and quiet can work wonders for a fourth killer bot.
@@drawnwithlove3499 And funny thing is, it makes perfect sense for Scott to use this method. It's the best and easiest method of "randomness" in AI. I can see why the Bonnie/Chica/etc simulator games are so popular.
15:48 that reminds me of the 49/20 without bonnie in ucn. It’s way harder, because the way bonnie and foxy work is that one is active at a time. Bonnie’ll just sit there if you don’t look at his camera, but foxy will be foxy and come to your office. As long as you can keep bonnie in pirate’s cove, foxy is nothing. Removing that basically makes foxy go on hard mode.
@@DarkDemise6066 Yep, he has automatonophobia (i think that's what it's called?) the fear of mannequins, robots, dolls, basically anything that is made to look like a person but isn't

You know how DVDs have commentaries and behind-the-scenes features? It should be the same for video games. If I ever develop a game, I’m gonna release the GameMaker project file along with it. EDIT: Yeah I know, it'll only work for free-to-play single-player games.
The commentary thing does exist. Edna and Harvey: The breakout, a humorous point-and-click adventure game has a dev commentary mode were Poki (the dev) is available on every screen in the game as a little unintrusive sprite in the corner you can click to hear him talk about that scene for a moment similar to a director commentary track. It's actually kinda neat, however I do not know if it is available in every version, and if it is, you might have to read subtitles for it, as I doubt he rerecorded all of it in English. The english localisation apparently wasn't that good anyways according to the international reception. I just mentioned this game in particular because it's the first that comes to mind having a dev commentary track.
Most valve games also have commentary such as Half-Life and Left for Dead, I think that it isn't common practice but I think that most devs already had the same idea as yours years before
@@truedemoknight6784 If the game is in multiplayer, then re-compiling would be a problem, but singleplayer games wouldn't as much of a problem as you don't need to deal with exploits and hacking in such a large scale. But it wouldn't be wise too as it could be potential piracy, unless you make your game free in the first place
Andrew Z please shut the fuck up its completely plausible to get something rare without realizing its rare theres absolutely no benefit to lying about something as small as seeing golden freddy especially in 2020
Same, the first time i ever played the game 2 months ago, on my first night (before 2 am) i got golden freddy edit:i read that you got the ending, not the animatronic
So you're telling me: That Freddy basically can't touch me if I just set the camera to Cam 2A and never switch it, ever. Rewatching FNaF2 from Markipliar and I'm more frustrated than ever that this channel stopped at 1 so far. Does the Marionette choose randomly when to attack like Freddy originally did? Does Foxy get reset if he's bumped out of the hallway by another animatronic taking his place, or does he not even "reset" at all? How exactly does the "flickering lights, put on your mask immediately" section judge if you survive or not? I even saw a claim that Golden Freddy gets more active if you aren't fast with the music box. It's been over 2 full years, I want this more than I want Steel Wool to make a competent game.
He actually brought FNAF2 up at the beginning of the Baldi’s Basics video. Essentially he said that the mechanics were far too similar to the first game to make a video out of, and he’d probably have to do it as a full-series video.
@@BoltTheEmolga Ah yes I remember hearing him say that........ *two years ago* (okay not quite two years but a few months away from it.) What he actually also said though is that he was relying on the help of someone else to do stuff he didn't know how to do so maybe it just didn't work out and he doesn't wanna give us the bad news.
1) Once the Puppet is out, he actually takes a fixed path through the rooms towards the office much like other enemies, you just can't see him on the cameras. The randomness comes from the fact that he has to roll for moves as well. 2) I don't think so, enabling map cheat shows that Foxy remains in the hallway even if it's occupied by someone else. 3) You have fixed amount of time to put the mask on which depends on the current night. If you're too late, you die, although there's a 10% chance that you'll live. 4) That sounds like BS, haven't seen anything like that in the code.
@@reptiliannoizezz.413 yeah that was terrifying and quite clever of the games developer for adding that. Reminds me of the weeping angels from Doctor who
10:10 That actually makes a lot of sense. When I first played, I figured out how to beat all the nights with absolutely no trouble. However, when I tried 4/20, there was a noticeable spike in Freddie’s AI. I’m surprised it’s so low throughout the entire game.
It's so low through-out the game to be more fair, if it was any higher he'd run straight at your office and camp it till you let him in (which wasn't good as most didn't understand how he worked, that challenge was left for custom mode..if you wanted to face 20 boss freddy that was your call lol)
Well, I had some background knowledge of the general mechanics of the animatronics (not nearly this in depth though) and I just came up with my own strat and it worked@@yayayayaysayayayayayaytyy
I love how Freddy was deliberately programmed to be an unfair fight. He'll kill you straight away if his AI is high enough. Something about that kind of quirky stuff just makes me smile. Also, yes, please do more horror games in the future.
@@Slender_Man_186 I think you can keep freddy in the right corner by just leaving the cam there. This is my idea: you check left and right hallway and open monitor to keep foxy in check, but you leave the cam on freddy in the right corner. If you wanna check if foxy is coming just close the right door before the next cam check and check foxy and go back the the right corner.
@@jaxryz_380 that makes it harder, you have more things to focus on, leading to more screw ups. You could pull up the cameras without closing the right door, thinking the camera is on the right hallway corner, when you accidentally left it on Pirate Cove or the left side hallway. Now Freddy is in the room, and it’s up to luck wether or not he’ll attack, sometimes he gets in but just doesn’t attack.

i remember playing this game with my friends, one of em was super full of bluster while we were playing nights 1 and 2, he only wanted to play at night 3 when the ai should have upped its game. funnily enough, while the animatronics appeared in the first 2 nights fairly regularly, when he sat down for night 3, they didnt show up at ALL. even foxy wasnt poking his head out much and that scared my friend more than if they actually had shown up LOL
if you think about it, someone has probably gotten so lucky that not a single animatronic has moved at all in his entire playthrough. imagine how paranoid you would be if in night 6 NO ONE moved
I got Golden Freddy poster in one of my first times playing. WHAT! Great video, I feel a series like this would be extremely fun for Horror Games, but other games as well.
The main points of the video, written down for convenient reference if you need it for some reason: *1. Difficulty* - The animatronics increase in difficulty each night. - They also slightly increase in difficulty _during_ each night. - Power drainage increases in speed each night, until Night 5. *2. Movement* - Every 3-5 seconds, each animatronic is given an opportunity to move. - The specific time is different for each animatronic, so they don't move at the same time. - Whether or not they actually move when an opportunity is given is determined at random based on their difficulty (they have a higher chance to move at higher difficulties) - Each time Chica moves, she steps into the next adjacent room on the right hand side. Each time Bonnie moves, he rips the spacetime continuum and warps to wherever the fuck he likes on the left hand side. - When Bonnie or Chica are at your door, their next successful movement will be into your office, unless the security door on their side is closed (in which case, their next successful movement will be into the dining area). - If they manage to get in, the security door on their side will be disabled, and they will wait until you next lower your camera to attack. - If you keep your camera up, they will forcibly lower it after about 30 seconds. *3. Foxy* - Each time Foxy successfully "moves", he gets one step closer to leaving Pirate Cove. - However, while the camera is up, Foxy cannot move at all. The camera does not have to be focused on him. - Once he successfully "moves" four times, he will run down the West Hall either when you look at that camera, or after 25 seconds has passed. - If he is blocked by the security door, he takes away some of your power, then jumps back to Pirate Cove immediately. *4. Freddy* - Similarly to Foxy, Freddy cannot move while the camera is up. - Each time Freddy successfully "moves", he instead starts a countdown, the length of which inversely proportional to his difficulty (i.e. it gets shorter as he gets tougher). - If the camera is down when the countdown ends, Freddy will actually move. If the camera is up when the countdown ends, he will wait for you to lower your camera, then move. - Once he reaches Camera 4B (East Corner), he cannot be stopped with the camera unless it is focused on him. - He cannot enter your office while your camera is down. This means that he will only be allowed to sneak into your office while you are looking at cameras other than Camera 4B. - If he is blocked by the right security door, he will only step back one room to the East Hall (Camera 4A), rather than the Dining Area with Chica and Bonnie. - If he successfully moves into the office, he is actually not guaranteed to kill you. He does not forcibly lower your camera, and he only has a 25% chance of attacking you every second. *5. Power Outage* - When you run out of power, all animatronics essentially stop where they are. - Every 5 seconds while the power is out, there is a 20% chance for Freddy to show up in the doorway. If he hasn't shown up by the 20 second mark, he shows up automatically. - Once he shows up in the doorway, every 5 seconds there is a 20% chance for the emergency lighting to cut out (i.e. the final phase of power outage). If it hasn't cut out by the 20 second mark, it cuts out automatically. - Once the emergency lighting has cut out, every 2 seconds there is a 20% chance for Freddy to jump at you. *6. Special* - There is a 0.00001% chance for the Golden Freddy poster in Camera 2B to appear (and therefore summon Golden Freddy) - The game over screen has a 0.0001% chance of taking you to the Golden Freddy jumpscare, instead of the title screen.
Thanks man, didn’t want to watch the video because of past trauma and this was what I was frantically looking for in the comments other than jumpscare warnings. Though I do still want a bit more information about Golden Freddy. All I know is that he pops up when you type in 1987 on the Custom Night mode. I’d really like it if you could respond back!
Also, just to clarify, since there’s a chance for Golden Freddy to jumpscare you when you get a game over, does he appear in replacement of the game over screen or right after it? Also, what does it mean by “summoning” Golden Freddy? Does he jumpscare you right away if you see the poster or does he just have a guaranteed chance to jumpscare you during the night?
@@Cupston The Golden Freddy jumpscare appears right after the game over screen. As for "summoning" Golden Freddy, it means that when you look at the Golden Freddy poster then lower your camera, Golden Freddy will be in your office, slumped over. If you look at him for too long he'll jumpscare you.
Thanks, sorry I almost lost my shit at "every time Bonnie moves, he rips the space time continuem..." but great list. Also, I can't believe a lot of players don't know that Foxy could be active at any given night (even night one) provided that you don't use the cameras often enough or if a glitch has occured.
The game stops even more abruptly than you might've thought when the power goes out. Running out of power while being jumpscared by Foxy, but before the screen cuts to static, will cause him to instantly disappear. Maybe he's scared of the dark or something?
screeeeee *shutdown* *Freddy proceeds to yeet Foxy to hell and back* OK where were we oh yeah. Let me just go to wheel decide and oop im doing a long song this time
8:45 I wasn't part of the FNaF community in 2014, but I will also swear that people were saying then that Freddy can pop through the poster. It rings a faint bell in the back of my head, like a memory of a conversation like it, and I think someone debunked it in said conversation. Again, this was nearly eight years ago for a community I wasn't in, but you bringing that up does ring a bell for me. (...and yes, this was two years ago so I doubt tech rules will see it. In case he does though, here's my comment lol)
I remember this theory clear as day, but the hole actually was used to theorize how Golden Freddy got in the office even if the doors were closed. I saw it used to explain both Freddy and Golden Freddy
I’ve recently found interest in learning about how the ai works in horror games, particularly I find the ai of Alien Isolation to be extremely interesting, as it gives the player the illusion that it is learning as the player continues through the campaign, even between game over screens. If you could do an in depth video on the alien’s ai I would be EXTREMELY excited to watch that
Fun fact: the alien actually has two different sets of AI, one that is omniscient and knows exactly where the player is at all times, and another that only gets information from hints that the omniscient one tells it.
You can find out more in the video itself! ua-cam.com/video/vdgV_rGzML4/v-deo.html
This just proves my point when it comes to things like this: Misinformation is SO easily spread, even when you don't mean to.
I love how many people don't even notice.)
ORIGINAL COMMENT: Hey everyone!

There are TONS of fangames for you to try, just go to gamejolt and download some of them.
@@jaredargento1511 You mean nights 3-6, since Freddy doesn't move on the first two nights.
@@TheGamesReal
My strategy was exactly that but without checking on Foxy at all.

Back a year after my last comment for two things actually:
In ultimate custom night Bonnie shares pirate cove with foxy, and while looking at pirate cove keeps foxy in check, it makes Bonnie more aggressive

Freddy only moves when he laughs, it’s an audio hint that you can use to tell where he is without using the cameras.
At least, that's what the clip looked like
Also, imagine being so popular you spawn an urban myth about a internet sensation

The call does say he only moves when the camera is off and states it's because he hates being watched but people only focused only on the last bit interpreting it as "hates being watched=don't look at" which isn't what the full sentence meant at all
So I take it people heard Foxy "doesn't like being watched" and took that to mean looking at its camera too much provokes it then.
I was so confused because I thought Phone Guy was contradicting himself.
ohhh that makes sense! it’s worded very weirdly so it’s easy to think that doing something foxy doesn’t like = bad because it’ll piss him off and he’ll kill you
Why does nobody react to tech rules 😥
Man I love the way FNaF 1 fucks with your brain
To be fair, it's not wrong to say, it just needs a bit more context.
"He doesn't like being watched, so I usually keep an eye on him to keep him in check," or something to that degree would provide a helpful tip on Foxy's RNG without feeling out of place. Just saying "He doesn't like to be watched," means you either interpret it as "I shouldn't view the camera much," or "I'll stare straight at him just to spite him," neither of which are that great lol.
Freddy is more polite than everyone else
I would probably say that out of all of them, Freddy is the most sneaky of the four.
He doesn’t directly approach the office like Bonnie/Chica.
He doesn’t mad charge like foxy.
He just sneaks up through the cams, gets to your literal blind spot and waits. He waits for that one moment of inattention to kill you. It’s arguably what makes him the most sinister; he’s very human in his behaviour, which also made Springtrap a memorable villain; he might’ve been limited by the suit and his base desires, but FNAF 3 was a literal knife fight with someone who literally wanted you dead, all the while your degrading mental state, which made a lot more sense in the following games.

that also makes sense about their aggression level by the hint: "the animatronics seem to become more active as the night goes on" and also: "freddy seems to become more active as the week goes on" very sneakily pointing out the aggression mechanic.
All this talking about movement opportunities makes me imagine the animatronics viewing the nights as playing a D&D campaign.
"alright, chica, you'll need to roll a nat 20 to get in the night guard's room" "ah, no! he closed the door. Roll your D12 for random placement on the map"

Freddy while in the office:
Sneak increased to 100.
Seriously, how can you miss an 8 foot robo-bear in such a tiny office?
When you're Markiplier, the chances are quite high.
Ask no questions be told no lies…
Especially with the "HAHAHAHAHEHEH"
Ask any skilled magician how they avoid having an entire audience see the sleight of hand being pulled off right in front of them and you'll get an answer akin to "The Art of Distraction." In this case Freddy takes advantage of a moment of inattentiveness to what he's doing (not watching his corner in the camera + the door being open) to move into position. When you're got three other killer bots running around, probably making plenty of noise as they move, just being still and quiet can work wonders for a fourth killer bot.

Most valve games also have commentary such as Half-Life and Left for Dead, I think that it isn't common practice but I think that most devs already had the same idea as yours years before
Isnt that in Half life and l4d?
But then people will re-compile your game files and pirate it. Plus it makes it easy for hackers to find exploits (like the TF2 remote code execution)
I GOT THE GAME OVER GOLDEN FREEDY NEVER REALIZED IT WAS SO RARE
I’ll take 500 for that never happened

thanos devito You sure about that? What could be more fascinating than a Thanos Danny Devito?
This explains why it took barely any time to release FNAF 2. The way FNAF 1 was programmed is shockingly easy to adjust and add new animatronics
So you're telling me: That Freddy basically can't touch me if I just set the camera to Cam 2A and never switch it, ever.
And Foxy isn't even a problem because you don't have to look at him specifically in order to keep him at bay as normal.
. . . Excuse me while I go use my newfound knowledge to absolutely Dominate the animatronics.
You might still need to occasionally check on Foxy because he might still progress if you use the cameras, just a lot slower.
@NAME_IS_BOARD L20 I didn't actually do it yet asshole.
@Bombeast Who's the dick here? The commentor saying "please tell me you failed please tell me you failed please tell me you failed please tell me you failed please tell me you failed" or the person replying to that comment calling them an asshole (and I think rightfully so)
@Bombeast So he's a dick because he responded to a person who wanted him to fail badly at dominating the animatronics by calling him an asshole for it? Nice logic you got there.

*two years ago* (okay not quite two years but a few months away from it.)
What he actually also said though is that he was relying on the help of someone else to do stuff he didn't know how to do so maybe it just didn't work out and he doesn't wanna give us the bad news.
well he did replay through basically every FNAF game recently (except UCN or Security Breach, I don’t remember which one though)
@@NicknineTheEagle To add to the second point, when Withered Bonnie is in the main hall, you can still see Withered Foxy

Yup, on 4/20 mode you pretty much always have to close the right door when popping the cameras up.
@@boradagdelen3846 you can, but the right side camera has to be on him when you open it, and then he keeps you from checking on Foxy.
@@Slender_Man_186 close the door before checking cams if you need to switch the cams and you're good to go
@@jaxryz_380 that makes it harder, you have more things to focus on, leading to more screw ups.

WHAT!

Hey Alax! Surprised to see you on here! Love your videos btw
Alax notice me because ssbu's menus are the best PLEASE
wah
yahoo
Tf are you doing here?
Holy shit it's alax
The main points of the video, written down for convenient reference if you need it for some reason:
*1. Difficulty*
- The animatronics increase in difficulty each night.
- They also slightly increase in difficulty _during_ each night.
- Power drainage increases in speed each night, until Night 5.
*2. Movement*
- Every 3-5 seconds, each animatronic is given an opportunity to move.
- The specific time is different for each animatronic, so they don't move at the same time.
- Whether or not they actually move when an opportunity is given is determined at random based on their difficulty (they have a higher chance to move at higher difficulties)
- Each time Chica moves, she steps into the next adjacent room on the right hand side.
*3. Foxy*
- Each time Foxy successfully "moves", he gets one step closer to leaving Pirate Cove.
*4. Freddy*
- Similarly to Foxy, Freddy cannot move while the camera is up.
*5. Power Outage*
- When you run out of power, all animatronics essentially stop where they are.
*6. Special*
- There is a 0.00001% chance for the Golden Freddy poster in Camera 2B to appear (and therefore summon Golden Freddy)
- The game over screen has a 0.0001% chance of taking you to the Golden Freddy jumpscare, instead of the title screen.
Wait so you're telling me there's a higher chance of getting the Golden Freddy scare upon a game over rather than in-game with the Camera 2B poster?
The game stops even more abruptly than you might've thought when the power goes out. Running out of power while being jumpscared by Foxy, but before the screen cuts to static, will cause him to instantly disappear. Maybe he's scared of the dark or something?
I remember watching a video about this occuring and being very confused. However, I do not remember the video's channel. (Maybe markiplier)
