Patty sings with her heart and soul and holds our hands while she takes deep into ourselves that we are afraid to see, but with her gift we are safe and loved
She could sing a grocery list and I'd be in tears and rapt attention. Love, love, love Patty! Have followed her since her first CD back in the mid 1990s, every note of every album is pure gold. Would love to have these unreleased songs on an album sometime, Patty.
This song got me through a time I didn't think I'd survive. Unsufferable loss. Love Patty's work, her own songs are incredible, this is a stunning interpretation.
I still listen to this song written by John Hiatt on a CD of terrific John Hiatt songs, but one of my favorite singer song/writers ever, Patty Griffin, does a great cover on this superb song.
It's funny, I usually have utter disdain for most country music, and singers in that style~ but I love the quality of her voice, lyrics and music. It totally transcends the genre, which I think is ultimately the goal of any type of music: to express something truly meaningful. This cover has absolute heart!
Take it down is about taking down the Confederate flag. I love this hauntingly beautiful song by the legendary John Hiatt, though you take it down, then a piece of American history goes with it.

The first song I ever heard Patty sing and I was hooked in a good way. Still one of my favorites.
This song was made for Patty. Thank you so much! It's so beautiful in every way :)
This is how to cover a song. The respect gives me goosebumps. Now I just need to see them do this together. Perfect.
She is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing
This is a song written by John Hiatt, an equally amazing songwriter!
Thanks. I didn't know that. It's hauntingly beautiful, which seems to be John Hiatt's strength.
Mr. John Hiatt , The greatest songwriter in American history!!!
Tru dat
This takes me right back to a place I thought I left behind a long time ago
A brilliant cover by a brilliant artist.

You are exactly right. Patty Griffin takes songs beyond what most of us do. The depth of her heart and soul just flow out.
Careful my friend, that's how americana will steal your heart

The very best cover of this song...

Did she ever record this? I’m trying to track it down.
It's available on: It'll Come To You - The Songs Of John Hiatt. Hope that helps. :)
@@MyFavouriteShop Thank you!
She sure is. (And so is Antje Duvekot.)
