And the winner gets the losers other country? To be enslaved? Raped? And murdered? If the Middle East took over the United States, what do you think they're going to do to us? Yeah... if they worked that hard on trying to build homes and provide food and shelter for everyone. Humanity could have a utopia. We all just choose not to.
The worst part about the “If” this happens would be the fact that it’s controlled by only a few people compared to the billions who have no say or control. God help us

Second; when* not if. Anything with a probability above 0% becomes a matter of time. Also, this video fails to horrify to the extent of an actual counter-value nuclear attack, the targets are chemical plants, chemical weapon facilities, nuclear power plants along with their spent fuel pools and dry cask storages but, you probably won't live long enough Cobalt-60 and cook from the inside out because, Yellowstone is a target.

I'm glad the narrating voice kept clarifying. as if I wasn't watching the video up until that moment where it specifically showed a singular missile being deployed

Depends on how many were used. If all large population centers > 1million were hit in the US, within a year I'll bet 5-10% of the population would exist. It's not the bombs per say, but the destruction of 'just in time' infrastructure such as food and medicine that would be so destructive
Around 600 million deaths in the first day (the "lucky ones"). A billion more in the subsequent month (mostly death by radiation, famine, infections). 3 billions more in the next year because of the utter collapse of food production, distribution, health care. Other 4 billion in the next 10 years due to starvation and plagues (global nuclear winter, food production reduced worldwide to 2% of original number, no distribution of food) Civilization will forget fast its technological knowledge, the step back would be around 1000 years or more. The levels of technological tools will never recover to previous levels, due to the problem of a depleted baseline of minerals. Recovery to a medieval like Civilization is estimated in around 500 to 1000 years after the catastrophe, and enter a indefinite state of stagnation. @@davidnelson1475 What part of any of this brings "peace"? There are multiple wars going on in the world as we speak. Maybe something is wrong with me because this should be incredibly terrifying, but when you live through a war for almost 3 years and hear air raid sirens every day and night, and once a month someone threatens to use nuclear weapons, so over time you just stop being afraid. In the 1983 movie WarGames, a NORAD supercomputer (WOPR) runs through all possible scenarios for bilateral nuclear war, finding they all lead to global annihilation. It calls nuclear war “a strange game” and concludes, “The only winning move is not to play.”
The problem is, not being _prepared_ to play is a losing move. If Russia didn't have nukes, NATO would've bombed it into submission over its invasion of Ukraine. If you use your nukes, everyone loses. But if you don't have them, you lose.
That's why its called "nuclear deterrence". And also why "mutually assured destruction" exists. Theoretically and HOPEFULLY this keeps anyone from ever using nuclear weapons ever again.
Ukraine had nuclear weapons but gave them away for russia promising not to invade. And look what happened. Russia made nuclear dismanteling more or less impossible in modern times.@@solandri69

well, the number of immediate deaths is a countable number. But, these people had lives, worked somewhere, had or would have descendants which now will never be born, their 3rd degree burns if treated would destroy nearly everyhealth system in the world, open wounds would carry diseases, people would die from exhaustion and the human landscape is then trully hard to comprehend. You are not only causing lives that exist now to disappear, our actions go far into the future, for instance, now descendants from, Hiroshima and Nagasaki have altered genes due to radiation and their offspring, two generations later are still prone to certain cancers. Wanna feel completely helpless? Little boy (Hiroshima) had a 64kg (141 lbs) "core" of which only around 910 GRAMS (2 lbs) actually fissioned (detonated). That means that over 98% of the bomb actually didn't get used. 910 grams... That's like 4 Big Macs. The mass of 4 biggie boys killed over 100k people. And to top it all off, Uranium 235 (fuel inside little boy) fission is absolutely inefficient, like laughable at best. Only 0.1% of the fission process actually gets converted into energy (the boom which makes the bomb go). ZERO POINT ONE PERCENT!!!! If you were able to convert all of the energy at an efficiency of 100% (let's say by using antimatter) you would only need 0.5 grams of ordinary matter and 0.5 grams of antimatter to produce a yield of 21 kilotons (the bomb dropped on Nagasaki). That's like the weight of 1ml of water. It's absolutely unreal how much energy is Stuck inside nuclear bonds.
Einstein showed us that mass contains an unimaginable amount of energy bound within it, known as “rest energy” (M = E/C^2). If I’m not mistaken, in the current state of the universe, there’s far more rest energy than radiation, second only to dark energy, meaning the universe’s mass holds a massive amount of potential energy that could still be unleashed or decay to lower states. Just one gram of matter can release 9 x 10^13 Joules, enough to power a single household for thousands of years!

It's about as accurate as calling NATO a paper tiger because they lost to the taliban. It doesn't magically invalidate their nuclear arsenal, or make their conventional arsenal less powerful.
@@Ubermensch058 no, they will still kill each other for more resources, billionaires with like 10 billion dollar in his house and still want to squeeze every second of pooping time from his employee, even unlimited resources is not enough for a person.
The scary thing with multiple warheads is not the combined total explosive yield but the abilty to spread them over an extended area, which would be even more destructive overall.
yeah, this simulation of "Here's what it would look like if they targeted all the warheads at the same point," which is exactly the opposite reason why MIRVs were invented. Setting them to nearby points creates and even more destructive footprint over a wider area. This is because the effects of the blast decrease exponentially with distance from ground zero. So spreading a bunch of little circles around covers more area than one big circle.
"could" doesn't mean shit. If they try anything, all their cities will become ash. It's not a realistic option for them unless they want to disappear from the map.
The Cold war started in 1947 but never really ended, it just expanded to all the world and will always be the fine line between peace and total human annihilation...we literally live in an incredible fragile limbo. It's terrifying.
The only country in the world that is worried about this, is the US, because they use scare tactics in case they feel like dropping a nuke on someone they're afraid of. Like they did in Japan.
Honestly I know this might sound crazy or even stupid, but I feel like nukes are actually a good thing because nobody wants to do anything due to the insane fear factor of nukes. It's in a way keeping like you said a perpetual limbo of peace and fighting.
Literly, what is the point of everyone having nukes when nobody can use them. The second one country sends a nuke, every other country that have nukes will send theirs, and the entire world will burn.
I mean... that's the point. These aren't meant to be "strategic" in spite of the names governments like to assign them. They are guarantees that nobody wins by using this technology against anyone else. Pulling the trigger only guarantees death. No more cities. No more citizens. No more economy. No more nation. Erasure. The End. So there is no motivation to do anything besides build your own and watch closely. When your "ultimate" move ends with your entire country being reduced to radioactive craters and a historical footnote, suddenly conventional warfare and diplomacy seem like far more reasonable choices.

This is why nuclear weapons are defense weapons, not offensive. This is also why we have not yet had WW3. Without the nuclear deterrent, who here really doubts that the cold war wouldn't have turned hot? And dont forget biological weapons and chemical weapons. I think nuclear war is a pretty low risk. Powerful people really like their power. I really dont doubt, though, at some point that we dont end civilization. Civilization is a lot more fragile than most of us realize. 2 weeks without grocery store delivery, and the United States would tear itself apart. No nukes, no biolgicals. Just no groceries.

Most of what we have nowdays ( medecine, tech, vehicle, basically most of science) was the result of research for military ends ( war ). War is the driving force behind our evolution from when we emerged from caves or fallen off from trees. Basically to have more , and do that by the easiest means, that is taking it by force from your neighbour. It is how it is. You break your back, waste your life, cheat, steal just to have a better car, nicer house, more children etc. Then you just die. The end.
The video missed the whole point of missiles w/ multiple warheads. MIRVs are being used because each warhead will land in a different area to maximize damage area instead of a single large explosion, so even a single missile would be more destructive than what the video showed.
Yeah they missed the point there but probably to make the comparisons more standardized and easier to animate. It's bad as it could hit 12 cities at once, not 1 city 12 times or 1 city really wide.
They also miss the fact that MIRVs are used to distract the enemy and give them too many targets to try and shoot down on reentry. half of the MIRVs are usually dummy rounds used to make the enemy waste time and effort targeting them.
If N weapons were real,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The US military would have already killed half the world. How do you think it's possible for any human to live anywhere near Hiroshima ?????? The only reporters and photographers allowed in were sent in by US military. Hmmmmm.

Sarmat isn't fully introduced to service yet, that explosion was from one of the tests. So it's kinda different from Trident failure. But yeah, some of the missiles will fail on the launch around the globe and won't deliver. That why there are so many of them - to ensure the final result.
I was born and raised in Russia, and it deeply saddens me that so many people are now focused on this topic. I have great respect for Americans, Russians, and all other nationalities. No nation in the world deserves the sacrifices that war demands. No to war! Freedom for Russia! Love for the planet!
@likerx292 ,,No to war! Freedom for Russia!" Whaaaat? It's like saying ,,No to rape, freedom for the rapist!" Equal freedom is based on arresting the rapist, not by demanding impunity! And I don't wanna hear ,,But someone else was worse!" because 1. it's often not true and 2. it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if somene else raped more people, he has done a crime and therefore he has to be punished. It's such a joke if people say, they are against war, and then support aggressive warfighting nations like you. You are definitely in favour of war.
Oh that is only part of the story. What is much more severe, is the fact that the US unilaterally has changed their nuclear posture to pre-emptive strike - They try to strike first. With the possibility of striking Moskow from sites near the russian border the time for the russian side to analyze incoming missiles for a flock of birds, or tactical non-nuclear weapons lies now below five minutes. NOW you might get an understanding why the russian side will do ALL that is in their power to force the West to negotiate a new mutual security setting - of which they talk specifically since december 2021. Now you can also understand that they cannot allow under any circumstances Ukraine becoming a launching pad for nuclear weapons. The gravity of the situation is far, far more dangerous than during the Cuban missile crisis !!!!! This year the russian side also changed their nuclear posture to pre-emptive strike - and they now posses a marked superiority over the West, regarding the penetration capability of their warheads vs. air defense. Also the russian built a strategic partnership with China - thus the US would be forced to also attack the siloed DF-Missiles there, else also receiving those monsters. Now WHO is insane ???

I think the idea of multiple warheads is to spread them out to maximize the area of destruction. I've never heard of multiple warheads simultaneously targeting the same area at the same time.
Your nuclear materials are more effectively used in multiple warheads because anything bigger than 800 kilotons does little more damage at ground zero. It just makes a cloud that goes higher. Shotgun patterns of smaller warheads will devastate exponentially larger areas than a single warhead of the same total yield.
There's that, but it also helps the weapon to bypass any air defense that may be in place. It's a bit redundant in my opinion as no country on earth possesses enough AD to inhibit nuclear strikes, including the US and Russia.
They don't mean targeting precisely the same spot. They mean targeting a metropolitan area so that the blast and damage and radiation areas are exponentially increased when they all detonate a few miles from one another.

Around 600 million deaths in the first day (the "lucky ones"). A billion more in the subsequent month (mostly death by radiation, famine, infections). 3 billions more in the next year because of the utter collapse of food production, distribution, health care. Other 4 billion in the next 10 years due to starvation and plagues (global nuclear winter, food production reduced worldwide to 2% of original number, no distribution of food)
Civilization will forget fast its technological knowledge, the step back would be around 1000 years or more. The levels of technological tools will never recover to previous levels, due to the problem of a depleted baseline of minerals.
Recovery to a medieval like Civilization is estimated in around 500 to 1000 years after the catastrophe, and enter a indefinite state of stagnation. No more race to the stars, for humans: after all, we did not deserve it.

well, the number of immediate deaths is a countable number. But, these people had lives, worked somewhere, had or would have descendants which now will never be born, their 3rd degree burns if treated would destroy nearly everyhealth system in the world, open wounds would carry diseases, people would die from exhaustion and the human landscape is then trully hard to comprehend.

The scary thing with multiple warheads is not the combined total explosive yield but the abilty to spread them over an extended area, which would be even more destructive overall.
It's the nuclear shotgun
What the video failed to mention is the trident II can carry even more lighter warheads. The Polaris could load up to 16 smaller warheads per missile.
or delayed timing on same target for deep penetration
And harder to intercept. If thats even possible.
yeah, this simulation of "Here's what it would look like if they targeted all the warheads at the same point," which is exactly the opposite reason why MIRVs were invented. Setting them to nearby points creates and even more destructive footprint over a wider area. This is because the effects of the blast decrease exponentially with distance from ground zero. So spreading a bunch of little circles around covers more area than one big circle.

MIRVs are being used because each warhead will land in a different area to maximize damage area instead of a single large explosion, so even a single missile would be more destructive than what the video showed.
video is great. We did understand that part.

That was my main point here.
The point being is that the Germans saw the Soviet military as weak. I agree about all your plus points, although I still believe hegemony over Scandinavia was still a major goal for the USSR. But whether the war goals were achieved doesn't matter, all of that is quibbling to some degree, because the impression other nations got from the 1939 invasion of Finland was that the Red Army performed poor against outnumbered and equipment-wise inferior Finish forces. A misconception, again, which proved to be an advantage for the Soviets later in 1941, without a doubt.

Ridiculous comments at the end, Russia nuclear deterent a 'paper tiger', if it is then what is the US's 1970's vintage Minuteman missiles??
The difference between the Russian arsenal and the US Minuteman missiles is that the Minuteman missiles _still work._

World War 2 US soldiers fight with Japanese soldiers. But US soldiers won by killing unarmed Japanese citizens at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were only people's houses, schools, hospitals. People died from newborns to the elderly. It's like Mr. A and Mr. B fighting. Mr. A kills all of Mr. B's relatives until they are dead. Then ask Mr. B, "Are you going to give up yet?"
What kind of person do you think Mr. A is?

Definitely not, it greatly diminishes the importance of the message made right afterwards to avoid nuclear war at all costs. Where is the point? If it’s capable of killing five millions or one million or even just half million people it’s incontestable devastating and massive destructive.

Considering that Russia's demonstrable capabilities are far behind what they would have everyone believe, they are the quintessential poster child for a paper tiger.

They know this well because they have advisors
They already know this. The stage of warfare has moved beyond these things many decades ago.
Neither China, Russia, nor America can use these in the way shown here without being completely annihilated themselves.
Nukes are not offensive weapons - they ensure your country cannot ever lose a full scale war. Otherwise useless for war.
Saying not to go into nuclear war while calling Russia a paper tiger is kinda contradictory, don't you think?
im more surprised if i see good thing nowadays
Seems history going to repeate itself again. Every time western country invaded Russia, they were guided by idea that Russia weak.
Nevertheless, even being in a state of "paper tiger" West understands that the nuclear arsenal of Russi is more powerful. What will be when Russia overcome its current difficluties? I have nodoubt Russia will develop itself rapidly, after its gain of true independency -- independency of all West controll mechanisms like Dollar, SWIFT, Ensurance mechanisms (controlled by Britain), etc..

Росия каждый день пугает весь мир ядерным оружием. Они как дети с синдромом дауна, они не понимают что делают
Yet that papaer tiger is beating NATO solo in Ukraine
I think the idea of multiple warheads is to spread them out to maximize the area of destruction. I've never heard of multiple warheads simultaneously targeting the same area at the same time.
Your nuclear materials are more effectively used in multiple warheads because anything bigger than 800 kilotons does little more damage at ground zero. It just makes a cloud that goes higher. Shotgun patterns of smaller warheads will devastate exponentially larger areas than a single warhead of the same total yield.
Only if they use the EMP to take out the defenses.
There's that, but it also helps the weapon to bypass any air defense that may be in place. It's a bit redundant in my opinion as no country on earth possesses enough AD to inhibit nuclear strikes, including the US and Russia.
@@dizzyspinner648I think that's what Denis meant
They don't mean targeting precisely the same spot. They mean targeting a metropolitan area so that the blast and damage and radiation areas are exponentially increased when they all detonate a few miles from one another.
