- In Part 2, The Muska recounts his first brush with pro skaters, the influences of Tom Penny and Jamie Thomas, his top five most influential skaters, and more. Number 12 on our list of The 30 Most Influential Skaters Of All Time.
MuskaBeatz was like a union between the skateboarding culture and the Hip Hop culture...dope!
+Earl Turner hip hop can be punk aswell. actually the two cultures are closely intertwined. Lots of early rap groups used to be punk bands.
Muska is OG, I idolized that guy
Couldn't agree more... Muska is forever the grind/slide LEGEND...
You’re a legend Chad. Big ups!
One word, Passion.
Thanks man, can't get enough of it.
remember seeing dude kill it at a demo back in 98
muska is no legend yet since hes still alive. hes just the best human
the way muska is now I can't belive this guy was outside every day pushing the limits of skateboarding.
Solid list of influential skaters, Chad. Hosoi, Gonzales and Kaupas...
Can't forgot Mullen and Daewon though.
yes! his back pack was soo dope!
legend!!!
MUSKA IS THE FUCKING MAN
Mark Gonzales is what sk8boarding is about...its pure art...and every skater got that "bit" in his heart..
The Muska = Classic
well said muska well said
Cool, he mentioned Natas. The most underrated skater of all time. :)
the muska is beast
Muska and Kerry Getz !!
Kerry Getzs part in skate more always gets me stoked to go skate!
maybe nyjah isnt an influence due to his style but hes doing what muska did, he mentioned it himself, hitting bigger hand rails and going bigger everytime also more technical and thats exactly what he does.
THE MUSKA🔥
where is part 1?
Nice little snippet of Southbank in there too haha
where is part one
yeah...rather see muska bail than nyjahs doin switsch hardflip tailslide kicklfip off to nose wheelie double kickflip
Where's part 1? Searched Muska on the channel and it's not there =/
them grey muska trainers he designed were boss.
RIP Tim Brauch. Greatest of all time.
Muska was like our late 90's earlly 00's Hosoi
skills and courage to do tricks in pics are beaty. but i think the love wht u feel more important than skills and Muska do it!
i'd like to hear he named P-Rod because they two were in Tony Hawk's games...
but he picked Nyjah because they are in the same Element team
Oh yaaaa !!!! Mark gonz most influential =3
This guy looked so fatherly when I saw him on the Berrics haha I didn't even recognize him.
FUCK YEAH!!!! The Muska!!
Cardiel and him sound very much alike
Verses of Doom!! my muhhfuckin jam!! that song was made to skate to.
Which Jeru song is this?
It sounds like a Metallica concert in here!
Markovich & Duffy for sure
What do you mean he has no passion? Nyjah is one of the best skateboarders in this generation of skateboarding. He's so determined to do the craziest shit; he always skates the biggest, scariest spots. Front blunting 18 stairs and shit.
"Most influencial skaters of all time"
How does Rodney Mullen's name not come up?
As amazing as his talent was, he didn't really have an image like a lot of other pros and although he did invent tons of tricks, other pros saw them and were the ones that made them iconic and want to be done by other people. Mike Carroll had more influence on skaters than Rodney Mullen in a way.
I take your point, and a well made point, I just wonder how "inventing almost all our tricks" is not being influential.
There's a million ways to explain it. I'll just say would you rather watch Rodney do an impossible or Dylan Rieder?
I had to google Dylan Rieder to find out who he was. Fantastic skater, heart breaking what happened by the way.
Maybe I am taking it way too personally, but I feel like Rodney Mullen often doesn't get enough credit for the roll he played and still plays in Skating.
Rodney Mullen was absolutely one of the most influential skaters ever
SK8
What's the sang name at the beggining
Jordyn Worth jeru the damaja - verses of doom. muska made the beat
Thank you TheTrifeone
Here's why I hate the Transworl list..
Most think it's a top 30 best skater list.
the list is soooo favoritism towards the late 90's/early 2000's era.(Carrol,Kirchart,Muska,Howard,Penny.
those dudes DO belong. but how dare transworld snub those they snubbed.
those who paved the way before Those mentioned and pat Duffy Questionable are hands down The most influential

Influential means soo popular that they inspire you...
and skating went through the greatest popularity BOOM in 1987'ish w/ the Public Domain, and When Ban This dropped
All of us pre teens we're now uber and could kickflip on & off stuff and more and more started skating..
Every suburbia in every state had a skate scene. Esp in warm states... And The 3 names that stand out are Jason Lee,,
Jeremy Klein and Ray Barbee. They we're hands down super popular to us kids..
there wasn't a 15 year anywhere who wasn;'t trying to do those gnarly NOComplys Ray Barbee Did..
And Jason Lee was popular identical to The Muska..
*This is why Thrasher will never do a gayass list.Becaus eeven if it was top 40 or top 60. It would be like " how dare you snub Salba or Grosso etc..
**also,,i enjoyed the memory lane of this nameDrop list.
ha ha, i used to wear a wife beater and roll my trousers up just to look like muska.
I learnt how to ollie then kickflip then i thought shit i have got learn hardflips to look like muska. After 10 years of skatin i only landed 3!
Verses of Doom
Full Fill the Dream! LEGENDARY! But WTF kind of shirt is that?
this reminds me of THPS4
me to, he was always my favourite character to play with
Anybody remember Muska Beats
Except Cardiel is way gnarlier.
seems to e a landscape
Yeah, Nyjah got the skill, bu he ain`t got the thrill of skateboarding. He isn`t a skate rat. I rather watch VX footy of random dudes skating raw street in SF than his perfect style rail combos in LA. Guys like Blake Carpenter, Madars Apse, Chris Milic, Josef Scott Jatta and Wes Kremer are my heroes for life.
throwin nyjah in there was kinda strange.. hes good and im sure he's influenced new, younger kids to skate but he hasnt influenced any new styles or done anything creative like a lot of the other dudes he mentioned. dont get me wrong, nyjahs an amazing skater but hes a bit too standard in his style to be a lasting influence on skateboarding.
Chad muska is goofball. Remember muska beats? Tom penny doe that dudes a true legend.
Gonz
I think the Musks is on some yayo right here.
0 mention of Rodney Mullen... Weird
ok totally fine you dont like nyjah, but saying he hasnt done anything creative or pushing skateboarding is bs, that kid goes big and very technical, maybe his style is not the best but hest definitly doing new shit
Agreed! Nyjahs skating has no passion. He's an incredible athlete but not legendary by far. I liked watching muska do every tail and nose trick ever on that same 18 stair rail wearing one glove and his pant leg rolled up haha
first time i say first criticme now
you know?
first time i dont see hem high
Muska?? 30 years???
+NoMoreEvil402 it was the 30th anniversary of the magazine
