Thank you for watching!
I own the green tortoise and love it. If Seiko put a dive bezel on it, and ISO certified it, I believe this would be the heir apparent to the SKX. It’s a great size for more people, and already has a sapphire crystal..
It's ISO enough... For a field watch
Seiko: puts a new model out
People: DO THIS AND IT COULD BE THE NEXT SKX!
Wouldn't these make it... a regular Seiko Turtle?
The green is a very nice watch! Looks like the perfect coloured watch for an outdoor trek!
These watches are underrated and under appreciated. Pretty much the best turtle case watch. I just ordered the special edition one which is my 4th.
The lack of AR coating allows you to use the watch face to reflect signals to the air (re: codes on the back). Liked your video.
That green one is the best-looking new Seiko I've seen in quite a while. Somehow they managed to take diver cues while not making it look like a modified Seiko diver. I'm down to one or two new watches per year and this one's on the shortlist.
Heyyy! He did the explaining thing! Thanks dude. This is a fun one as this is a very unique functional bezel
Thank you
I think they look great...and are reasonably priced, too. It's nice to see more alternatives to the ubiquitous dive watches. I'm fascinated by Seiko's Landmaster models of a while back....they had some pretty full-on tech eventually, with the ceramic cases....I hope we see a resurgence of these land adventurer watches.
There are but for some reason the only Land series watches we officially get over hear are this and the Alpinists. There are also the SRPD31/29s and some others if you check Seiko international or japan.
Very cool. Love the date placement, so much better than 3!! Cheers Mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
The green one is pure gold, love it!
Thanks!
I think it's stainless steel...
@@TARS.. Ha!
@@TARS.. I think it's stainable steel,seeing it is Seiko 😂
The forehead-check lives on!! I love it!! 😊👍
LOL
Just received my Seiko Monster save Antarctica watch yesterday from Mark, great watch, great service. I also have an islander watch that I really like. This will be next once it’s in stock again...
I love the flip hour watch, so cool!! It looks a little like the one in the picture I sent a month or so back
crossing my finger for SEIKO to release a version of the mini turtle with this case. keeping all the specification and add a diver bezel. that will be awesome.
Okay!
OR LIW
My local watch shop had one of the blue dial versions last week...they don't have it any more, I love it!
Good choice!
Something I never learned how to do was the directions using the watch. Very good video
It does work. You just have to remember DST where by 1300 hours is really 1200 hour during the summer. You also don't need a bezel.
always a delight learning from you🙋
Thanks!!
I like the compass bezel. More practical. I have more of a chance of going for a trek through the bush than I have going 200 metres underwater. I will have to have a think about this one.
200m rating doesn't mean it goes to 200m deep, mate. It's 200m (20bar) of water pressure on the watch, which is possible in shallower swims.
I haven't been to school in a long time. I paused at .37 and did the equations on the dial. Happy my brain still works. I have an SRP777. I love Seiko. Great vid mate.
very nice watches Mark. The green one is nice and it is nice in a subtle way. But the blue one looks really good on your wrist.
Very nice size, and that blue one really caught my eye.
Let's hope they sell well so they make 42mm regular diving turtles.
Great review as always Marc, very concise.
looks like the mini turtle line has met its nemesis.
Land nemesis.
Makes me love my Seiko Atlas even more...
Another great one
Please just call it the Tortoise. That's what a land turtle with distinct feet is called.
Ok!
Wow. This is genuine piece of information😀
This is bc American English mixes up the tortoise with the turtle. In English English the tortoise is a land animal & the turtle is a water animal.
Has nothing to do with their feet. They are all called turtles, turtles living solely on land may also be referred to as tortoises. The difference being their habitat, not their feet.
@@EdHunter55 Indeed, Tortoises live exclusively on land, turtles live in the sea and only come to land to lay their eggs. That said the tortoise is a member of the turtle family.
Its a nice looking too....
Brilliant, concise and clear explanation of how to use a watch as a compass - a trick I hope I'll never have to use personally though! That green one looks great in those colours and evokes 'land' perfectly.
Thanks!
I bought the srpg15 (blue version) yesterday. Love the look but the strap is uncomfortable on my wrist, If you’re planning on getting the polyester strap be prepared to replace it. Great looking watch though!
I like that greenish looking one Marc, and sapphire crystal, Nice!
Thank you!
That green/taupe one would be the one to get. I have seen Seiko put those codes on a display case back, as well. Definite outdoorsman's watch. Very nice.
Thanks much
The first one you picked up is an eye catcher. I like it.
Pretty cool watch Marc.
Thanks.
since tortoises are terrestrial, adding "land" is superfluous.
Very true.
@@kevinh5349 thanks for the redundant comment👍😉
@@kevinh5349 I feel that superfluous is the more correct term in this instance, but did you know that superfluous can be used to indicate redundancy?
Tortoise^2
Like hot water heater??
Never knew the compass trick 😁
Now you do.
@@islandwatch lol
“Held it to my forehead” hahahaahah
LOLOL. You know it!
Lololol did it last week to all my watches
Thanks Mark for the great review of these awesome new Seiko timepieces. I would take the green version since i'm a big reptile fan
Good choice!
Love the shape of the hands - much like the Seiko Tuna marinemaster.
Agreed!
I have that same junkers but on a black leather strap, I love it.
At least there’s no worries with bezel alignment. ;) Great looking watches though. I don’t think seiko can be beaten for case shapes and the way they fit on the wrist. These look gorgeous. Great vid Mark.
Thanks so much!
These are so cool. Thanks Marc!
Very cool diver alternative with a great case design.
Beautiful, nice videos as always, learned something new with the compass😬
Great to hear!
Had to rewind it to make sure I heard you correctly…SAPPHIRE ON A SEIKO🤯
You heard that right!
I'd imagine that you'd use the highly reflective sapphire crystal to transmit ground to air codes with the sun.
This model has an interesting selection of colour choices. On first impression, I didn't like the rose-gold variant 8:35, but on looking at it further, I think it's actually a very nice copper/bronze/brown combination. Overall, I suspect the black/gold variant will be the most popular. I think the blue variant would be greatly improved by a navy leather strap replacing the canvas strap.
Thanks!
Very cool looking watches. I was just reading about using a watch as a compass the other day. Thanks for sharing it Marc. Have a great day! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching
What a beauty, and it has sapphire for some reason :D. These will sell like crazy imo
I hope!
I've always thought compass bezels looked neat, but I can't imagine ever being in a situation where I would _need_ one. They are much like the E6B flight computers on aviation watches in that regard.
Spend time in the woods. This one is useful to anyone that does.
Backups are always good
Great looking watches & as always great review thank you Mark.
That black and gold is ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
These could be the answer for anyone considering a Willard X. Two for the price of one. Happy with the X and a PADI. Wearing a 007 I got from Mark.
Or, for $200 or so, you could get a G-Shock Rangeman with a really good compass, an altimeter, a barometer, solar charging, sets the time to an atomic clock every night via radio signals -- for a little bit more they come with GPS and Bluetooth too. PS: every tortoise is a land tortoise. If it swims, it's a turtle, not a tortoise.
Love my G-shocks, but this is an automatic non digital dial. Different animal.
@@teleguy5699 what he's saying is that this is an overpriced shitter, just because it's automatic doesn't mean much. If for the price it had a higher grade movement (like they used to in this price bracket not so long ago) it'd be decent.
A least I learned what a tortoise is, just lke using the words redundant and superfluous. By the way: Thanks for the Informative watch review !
Awesome little watches! Great video as always sir!
Thank you.
Stupid question: While the watch is clearly a dial the Instagram counter seems to be a split-flap "solari" type design. Since Amtrak pulled it's out of the Amtrak/NJT side of Penn the only good (cool) one of those is at 30th st in Philly.
Most peeps do not go diving with the divers ! But..they do go hiking. So...tortoise is an apt name.
I still have my drum roller watch I bought from you. I still wear it every now and then too.
Dang. I really like those. I have to hurry up and finish my Master's so I can start indulging again. I am sorry that those red star watches didn't sell well. I thought they were very interesting and fun.
They were fun and I actually did enjoy them :)
Seiko's best recent "value for money" release, IMO.
Such great additions to the Seiko lineup! I own the olive green one and love it. :)
It really is!
Against most ppl here, I got both the rose gold and blue one….loving them. Very nice polished finishes and no one come close to Seiko way to do their dial design for the money……and yes all 4 Seiko I bought this year have no quliaty or misalignment issue, because I picked it out with my own eyes and inspected myself before paid for them at my local AD and friend. You shouldn’t be buying anything more than $100, especially with fragile good like a automatic or mechanical watches online anyway…..or at least communicate with whoever you buy from online that if there are any issue with the watch you purchase from them online, you will be sending it back and demand refund immediately, they need to double inspect and send you a picture of proof before sending it out to you….I always do that, that’s why I never received any problematic or misaligned bezel, etc. Except the 2 times I forgot to ask……it is my own fault to be complacent and lazy……there!
Another winner from Seiko.
Yup
Mark, I'm on Long Island Watches and trying to pick out a bracelet that will fit the SRPG13, a little help here boss! Lol
Seiko Tortoise 🐢 ❤
Great video, thank you! Can you help me understand where can i buy a bracelet for the watch/add a link to one? Couldn't find on my own 😢
I always need a reminder on turning my watch into a compass. I don’t do it enough to remember it. I should put it on the label on the back of my watch. Correction: they should put it on the back of the watch.
No AR so you can reflect the sun and therefore gain attention
Yes! Signal mirror
Green one's popular, out of stock already! :O
In the Northern hemisphere in the evening - his time - the angle between 9pm and 12 is pointing to the north not south.
Interesting….thanks Marc.
Welcome
Me encanta land turtle. What does everyone think about the Lolly pop on the other side of the seconds hand ? Also new to Seiko
I was hoping you would hold one of your ceramic timing bezels on top of these watches to see how they look as dive watches. Very cool.
Great suggestion!
Mark. You should make Islander versions of the two watches you are wearing. Keep Rocking those Watches man 🤘🏻
Okay!
Nice looking watch
Yes. Agreed
Hi mark great video, really surprised with the sapphire crystal on the seikos. But question will we see a yellow/orange dial islander no date in the future. Huge fan keep up the good work!
Thanks
I think the green one would look good with a khaki strap too.
Should be ISO, but not illuminated Pip on the bezel. No problems.
No diver bezel
Not seiko fan, but this green looks great, for me only date ruin dial balance & overall look(
Thanks.
Love that 42mm size.
Good case size
Any alignment issues with these?
Didn't seem so
I want one of them hour hands for a modded Turtle I have been thinking of building. If not that hour hand then a snowllake hour hand. Hard to tell the time in the dark when i wake and glance at the Turtles dial and it's 10 after 2 or quarter after 3. Turtles hour hand can hide behind the minute hand. To my old eyes it's just a blur. Would like the lume colors to match. Also this Seiko hand would fit the pinion.
I think all Prospex should have this kind of hour markers alignment; complete and perfect lumes in the dark
I like tortoises
Nice, but I'd rather a 40mm and their prices are getting silly.
Please tell me you’re doing a video on the Botta Clavius next. Black and green are my colors. Love the looks of that in the email today.
I'll try to.
Wow, posted today and the SRPG13 (beige/green strap one) is already sold out!
It'll be back
So basically a divers watch can do the same thing? Or any anylog watch for that matter
Did you say Seiko and sapphire ? 🤨...
” use your head ! ” 👌😎
Lol
Prospex line should all be Sapphire. I have no issues w/ Hardlex but that’s the collection where it should definitely have Sapphire.
Understand
Anyone do the legwork on parts compatibility? Other than the obvious internals, are the bezel and insert SKX or SRP compatible? I’m digging the case size.
It lines up!!!!
Yes
Yes!
It's nice but I think I prefer my SRPD31 land series with the internal bezel. This has the same movement and markings though but the SRPD31 is a bit lighter. I wonder if they're going to discontinue the SRPD land watches?
I do wish my SRPD31 came with Saphire though.
Well similar markings. No degress on the bezel is a little sus to me if your going to use it.
Interesting that they kept the 20bars but dropped the iso for the sapphire (?). The green is the most beautiful in my opinion but the blue looks also interesting. Hey Marc you didn't commented on that latter blue I noticed!
The bezel makes it non iso. Not the sapphire.
@@islandwatch thanks for the clarification !
Would these bezel inserts have any compatibility with other watches, and are they available? Even if someone wouldn't necessarily want a bi-diredctional bezel?
I don't think so.
Hi Marc, have you ever come across the Seiko Landmaster? (SBDB015) For some reason this line of watches reminded me of that model
Damn that's nice 😳
Hi Marc, any plans a green Islander along the lines of this or the green king turtle?
Nice video 👍👍
Mantap
Thanks
This is gonna be the next watch I buy from you Mark!
Will you still have it in Dec?
We should
I wonder - who will be the first to do a comparo of the Tortoise with the compass Alpinist?
Good comparison.
IMO the better comparison would be the Seiko SRPD31/29s since they are in the same price range and use the same mvt.
I used to own the Alpinist, but sold it as the compass markers where too small to easily read. The external bezel with larger type on these watches solve that negative.
Are there any 12 hour bezel inserts that would fit this or aftermarket bezels so you could track a 2ND time zone
None that I know of.
Ready to drop it on the “Fauna” Green, but alas, out of stock. 😢🇨🇦
It'll be back.
Good luck at the Equator.
Lol
