I'm a 54 year old lady now... HEY, don't laugh, just listen for a sec... As a teenager, I had pictures, posters and multiple hand drawn signs/symbols on my bedroom wall of these guys. My Dad thought I was "weird" (and looking back, maybe I am) but I didn't care... Welcome To The Pleasuredome is STILL my most listened to FGTH track and it also still gives me goosesbumps! Even after all these years, it's still pure effing genius. Thank you Holly, Paul, Mark, Brian and Peter xxx
@@BadEgg1 Sorry to disappoint but NO, I am NOT the Samantha Fox, born in 1966, that most of the world is familiar with. Apart from a name, I share very little with the 80's stunner. I can't sing and I am definitely not model material but please don't hold that against me. I have my own set of skills...
Happy 60th birthday my friend. You are the same age as their guitarist 'Nasher.' I was in North Germany when their song "Rage Hard' came out, so that song always reminds me of Germany.
In the eighties, everything was magic.....53 years old today and listening with bittersweet memories........still a stunning track, produced by the legendary Trevor Horn.
After watchin' the VH1 documentary where they all got together in a room for the first time but Holly didn't want to perform - I thought a reunion would never happen. Ryan Malloy did a tremendous fill-in job - but it's great to see Holly reunited with the guys again.
I used to play this totally unique album on cd back in the 80's playing loud on my hifi with loudspeakers and disco lights flashing. Great times in the 80's with my mates. I miss those times so much.
I met Holly Johnson at a recording studio where I was working once. His little dog Funky stuck it's nose up my armpit (oooer missus) and I bumped my head and gave myself a shock from the socket I was working on. He made me a cup of tea and we had a great laugh about it. Great guy, and best track of FGTH by far...however, I do also like the live version with another singer and the ballet dancers. This group were so badly over looked and yet musically they were talent.
This album was a *FREAKING PRODUCTION MASTERPIECE* in the 80’s. They polished EVERYTHING! The CD even had a “static pop” list on it, declaring the defects - along with an apology! 😂❤ It was joyous, radical, and brilliant!
still fantastic after all these years, when you can sing as good as this you never lose it because its a gift, loved them back in the day still love them now xx
Erm…they’re miming to a remix version! Thankfully, we can’t hear the actual audio from this video! Also, someone tell Rutherford he can’t dance anymore. Thanks for the eighties stuff though Mr. Horn!
One of the most exciting and creative bands of my youth. So glad that VH1 originally reached out to them and got them in a room together and that eventually they decided to perform together.
Spectacular shenanigans from a band I've loved from way back, cassette & vinyl was the way we heard them, Holly Johnson possesses a vocal range & style that transcends time, 2024 & beyond, Respect & Love all day long ✌🌍🙏
i saw them twice in the 80s absolutely brilliant and still listen to them frequently such a great band i now live in New Zealand and would love them to tour again
That wasn't my experience . I saw them live in the 80's and Holly sang and the rest mimed to a backing track . Mind you , the Album was recorded by session musicians so i;m not surprised . But back then .I felt like i'd been short changed .
Yes indeed. I chanced upon the US programme when the compare tries to reunite groups. Holly was quite the spoilsport, and Gnasher would have played along had Holly been on board with the idea.
I remember travelling to London by train as an 18 yr old with my friends, to wait at ZTT‘s studio doors to get glimpse of Frankie 😂. Some dudes gave us Frankie badges and posters and we were the happiest guys on earth. I still have a box full of precious Frankie records and cassettes from that time. My all time favourite tune was Two Tribes, the Hibakusha mix. As a bass player I was always fascinated by Mark‘s bass chops. Such an underrated musician. Great sharing, thanks!
Outstanding performance, thank you Holly (and group) for this great reunion to show what a "real" professional band really looks like, you guys have still got it (together), thank you. :)
Remember hearing this song in the High School parking lot in 86 or 87. One of the guys had just got 2 15 inch woofers out of a Pair of Realistic Mach 2 speakers and put them in his YelloW VW. He played Relax and and it left quite and impression. These days kids just amazon some high tech Subs, Shoot we had to work with what we had. What a party with them i, 1980/1990......!!!! A sublime concert in Paris Bercy in 1985/86....In 1983 relax was every where and i remember a love story with this cool beautiful french girl at Lille france...all night long with the band as sound for our love story....!!!!
