You were 1/4 mile from our house at the hang gliding field. Spotted our class C in our driveway at 26:41 ... Glad you enjoyed OBX, there is so much to see and do here, hope you get back here again.
The excitement and smile on Tara showed how much fun you had. Glad you guys had a great time. I did not know Chad jumped out of perfectly good planes, lol. Stay safe and healthy.
Still have vivid memories of when me and my family visited the site. My Dad was adamant of visiting historical sites while on our vacations. Loved the video Chad and Tara!
WOW!!! Such memories of when I learned to fly in a glider in 1971. I didn’t even have my drivers license yet. But the memories of the freedom and pure joy of flight will always be with me. You may have just put out THE BEST UA-cam video EVER!!!
I was glued to your video! - I took a "basic" hang gliding course in a sand pit in the late 1970's and loved it, even though I was the only person to crash the kite, and only suffered being winded from the minor crash. Thanks for reviving the memories! Love your content! Cheers 🍻
Andy took me through my Hang 2 training two years ago. I did about 19-20 flights with him that summer. Earning my H2 was a strange mix of emotions. On one hand, I was able to fly solo and tow up with my own glider. On the other hand, I really loved flying with Andy. Bo and Charlie were my Hang 1 instructors as well as Billy, out on the dunes. I love them all so much, they feel like a family to me. They are all very amazing people.
One of my favorite episodes yet. I was in this sport back in its infancy..mid 70's, then flew an ultralight trike for about ten years. I was going to head out to California to get some airtime, but this video has changed my mind.
Just added this to my bucket list. Went to Kitty Hawk back in 1984 and took one hang gliding lesson = we jumped off a couple of small dunes and went like 30-50'. Sure would like to do what you two just did.
Don't forget that Ohio, as "The Birthplace of Aviation", played a significant role in powered flight. And, Wright Patterson AFB has Hoffman Prairie on the Base where those brothers also conducted experiments and flew many times. There are also historical markers strewn about as well as a building or two that look like suspiciously like the ones at Kitty Hawk. Stop by next time you're in the area...
That is the first time I’ve seen footage of being up as if we were hang gliding, man my stomach was doing a roller coaster just watching you, lol, no way could i hang glide, but i really super enjoyed watching this! 👍🏼🍻
Tara, I give you a lot of credit. You are one brave woman! I try to envision myself up there but feel faint, like my whole life flashed before my eyes. It was really boring! lol! ❤
FWIW: I did the _Tandem Hang Glider tow thing_ several years ago at Currituck Airport. I LOVED IT. The ONLY downside -- in my case -- was my neck {and in more recent years my back} was not too enthusiastic about flying in the prone position. If they ever offer _Tandem Paragliding,_ which is not so easy in mountainless N.E. NC, I will definitely give it a try. {You Paraglide in an upright seating position.}
Some of our favorite places to go. We have stayed at the Cape Hatteras KOA in Rodanthe. We also thought the soundside trail at Jockey's Ridge would be a nice easy trail, not a sand scramble!
Killer video ya'll. I live here and never done that, i want to now. I see them in the air all the time from our boat in the sound. now i know what they see from up there!
Daisy is so chilled ,our Gabby she is a Chihuahua Minpin mix she doesn’t like the car at all ….We took a road trip to Gatlinburg from Pa she cried the entire time 😭
Well done. Been going to Jockeys Ridge since grade school. Use to be alot taller back then. Will definitely hang glide. An new adventure to come. Give Ms.Daisy a hugh hug. 😊
The glacial cliffs/sand dunes of the Outer Cape Cod reach their highest point in Truro, exceeding 100 feet in some spots. Miles and miles of continuous sand beaches remain largely undisturbed and undeveloped.
Incredible. What a ride it was. Thanks for sharing. Chad you should do a video of a skydive. Didn’t realize you had so many hours. Enjoy the next adventure.
Great video. I have been Hang gliding since 1989 and absolutely love it. Never flown with Kitty Hawk but it looks like they have a quality operation. I have a lot of friends that I have met through Hang Gliding. Thanks for sharing with us!
Man, that looks like ya'll had a great time. And what a special place to do it. Couldn't really tell how Miss Daisy liked everything, she didn't show a great deal of emotion. Great video, great location. It's nice to see ya'll out and enjoying things. Was hoping Tara's issues were going to be behind her, maybe yet. God bless ya'll and stay safe on the road out there.
Great video. Looks like it was a lot of fun. The videography was great - even the behind the scenes of the spiral dive - that looked scary for the pilot to do that - and editing was awesome. Beautiful day! Can't wait to see the rest of this season's travels.
_Welcome_ to N.E. NC and the Outer Banks. {Also: Subbed...👍} *EDIT→* I started watching this video, but quickly realized it was a _Part 2._ So I stopped it, watched _Part 1,_ and now I am back to finish this one...😊
The kites are so small now 😢 I'm old. My brother was my instructor when I was 14 years old , we didn't have a plane or wheels. You waited for the wind on top of a mountain and run off 😂😂
I was also stationed at NASNORV, but the closest I got to flying was helpin my ETC build his Tinies Jeanie (a VW powered single seat. It was not until I returned home to SF bay area, that a buddy said lets take hang gliding Lessons at Ft Funston. I got hooked. 3000' ATO is my best (7000 AGL during flight). And no motor noise. If you don't get hooked?
Daisy is so cute. Just hanging out for the ride. Have you ever thought about getting an emotional support cert for Daisy. Then she can go most places with you
Glad you had fun. 200 feet underwater in a shipwreck no big deal but I would never do this. Funny how different things effect different people. It sure looked awesome but even that plane looked scary as can be.
I have come to realize over the years that I don't so much have a fear of heights so much as a fear of high ledges. I have always loved flying in airplanes, even small 2-seater aircraft, and I know I could hang-glide without going into cardiac arrest, hahaha. Other than bird-suits (which I know I don't have the courage to try), hang-gliding has to be the closest thing to flying like a bird a human being can experience. For me, I think it might actually become addictive...and I'd end up buying my own kite. I'll be 70 years old my next birthday, maybe it's time for a new hobby...
That was amazing. I'm glad you guys got to do that. Chad, is it similar to controlling a parachute? Just curious. Looking forward to your next one. Take care and God Bless you both.
The hang gliding looks like fun guys. Chad, did they teach you the pre-flight or do they just do that themselves. Am I maybe seeing a couple of hang gliders in your future? Keep the good stuff coming guys.
180 skydives? Oh come on Chad. Well I had to retire due to neck issue but after 985 ish. But that was also getting my coach and iad ratings. But sure miss it
Sorry guys, I haven't off-topic question . Would love your help. We're leaving on Monday for 45 days but I need to sanitize my water system. Could I do that today or tomorrow and let the bleach/water sit in the system for that long? Or do I have to do it like the day before we leave or the day we leave? Thank you.
We are planning to go back to the Outerbanks to do some camping next year. We plan on staying in the National Park campground near Kitty Hawk. Thanks for putting the state park on our radar screen. What time of the year were you guys there? BTW….sand, it is the gift that keeps on giving. You guys probably still have some sand in your shoes.
Great video. We are out on the OBX watching this in Corolla. Would love to cross paths and meet you guys but you are probably already gone by the time you edit and actually post.
@@ChangingLanes yeah the last time we were done here was April 2021 for our Anniversary and we stayed at Outerbanks West Currituck Sound KOA. Much busier now in season

Glider or hang glider?
@@towgod3096 A Schweitzer glider, towed by a Piper Super Cub. Wonderful memories.
I love the Outer Banks and the Wright Museum and the sand dunes so much. So fun. The light house there is amazing and the ocean water is so cold.

Couldn't agree more. I feel exactly the same way about all the guys at Cotton Gin! ❤
We will definitely follow your lead and give KittyHawk a try. Looks like so much fun.
Awesome! We hope you love it like we did! 🤠
Best video yet! You guys are doing what no one else does ! Thank you. 😮
I didn't even know this was a thing!! This is so cool!! ❤❤

I did some hang gliding , just hang1, 40 years ago on Lookout Mountain in No Georgia. Loved it.

There is a Wright brothers museum in eastern Indiana, near Summit Lake state Park as well, where they once lived. Is a great museum too!
Way to glide through the air! 😊👍
That was amazing and Tara you had no fear. Thanks for sharing the history of te Wright Brothers and the fun of the glider

I just flew around that operation last week in my AR-1 Gyro. I normally fly at 500" down the highway, but moved west to avoid the hang gliders.
Thank you for taking us on your adventures. It definitely looked like fun.
That was absolutely epic.
Glad you went before it got HOT it's been in the high 90s with high humidity for the past week. I am sure at OBX there was a breeze.
Great video and I had fun watching you guys fly. That was awesome.

Tara got that on wrangler.com a while back... I don't they they carry it now.

Wow! I'm curious to find out what would happen if you ran across a long winged bird while flying up there? Oy! 😮
