Dear Pete, in the last few minutes of today’s video, I think you FINALLY began to scratch the surface of how……important you are to so many of us, although you failed miserably, lol. You are important. Your spirit, comments on life, calmness, fortitude, humor, humanity, helpful ideas, etc. are so needed. Really, beyond needed, beyond important. No one can take your place. I often feel like such a “taker” because of what I/we get from you but have no way to give back. You bless us. Thank you, Pete!!

Hey Pete, I’m only in my 30’s, but some day I’d love to have a smaller scale farm. Your videos have made me believe I can actually pull it off! I have a bunch of older equipment I’ve picked up cheap an have been slowly working on each one. I can honestly say because of your videos I have gained some confidence in working on them. Let the haters hate, and god bless!

Pete, I can’t speak for anyone else, but your channel is different than any other I know. It’s like hanging out with a longtime, trusted friend and confidant. Someone you don’t want to just listen to, but actually hear. You are the type of person one just wants to hangout with on the porch shooting the sh!t or while puttering around doing all the chores because, when you’re around, it’s all a bit more meaningful and bit more fun. There is so much to learn from the farming, cooking, building, mechanics, terrible jokes and business but by adding to it the kind, deep, open-minded and open-hearted, often philosophical, discussion that is an ever present current is what I find sets your channel aside from the rest on it own unique path. I think that’s why it’s so hard to pinpoint exactly what one “wants” from the channel… because it’s you, a rare find. Really, I think that myself and many others need, but are missing, that type of person in there lives and feel comforted and calmed by having you around.
Btw, don’t say I said it, but I think Hilary likes you.

Pete I am, a pastor and small scale goat rancher here in North Alabama. Your videos are my go to for reassurance that I am not alone in keeping my familes hsitory of small scale self sufficient farming alive. We raise our own chickens and beef cows as well. You are my pressure relief from the stress of being a pastor as well. I think that most of the people you have the greatest impact on rarely comments because we are just happy to have you be a part of our lives. I know the mental impact of negativity and its hard. Know this, for every nagging negative person there seems to be hundreds that are content to watch, learn, be entertained and to just have your family be a part of our families for a few moments a week. Please continue with your videos, they mean alot to me. Thank you for sharing with us. God bless you

I really enjoy your channel, especially your relationship with your animals, the tractor restorations, and your interaction with your wife and family. I follow over 120 channels around the world and your channel is in my "Top Ten" favorites. Regarding the negative feedback, treat those comments like water on a duck's back. Thank you Pete and Hillary for sharing your life with me over the internet. I have cancer, I have been battling it for about 7years now. My dream has always been to be a farmer and it was taken from me due to unfortunate events out of my control. So I adjusted my goal to get back into farming some how, the result is flexible and the goal is broad. I want to raise cattle again, even if just a small herd. I want to have enough beef for my family, to sell, and to donate some back into the community every year. I feel donating some back into the community is essential after I was humbled by cancer.

Pete, I found your channel because of your dexter cattle videos. I've stayed for something far greater.
This is what you mean to me. I'm the youngest in my family. Most of the people that I looked up to growing up passed when I was a child or my early teens. I lost my dad when I was 18, he was only 53. That was 20 years ago. My mother remarried, and my step dad is a very good man, but he doesn't have the same interests that my father and grandfather had. You remind me so much of what I've lost. Your ability to do whatever you put your mind to. Your desire to learn new things and to share that with others. Your love for the land and how that love is displayed in your care of it. Your sense of reason when all else is going crazy. That was my dad. You have given me more than you know just by being here. As always, thank you!

You have no idea what a blessing you are. My uncle was an “old school” farmer, who loved what he did. As a child, my cousins & I took turns sitting on his lap, driving his Farmall tractor, slopping hogs, milking his cow & gathering eggs. Watching you reminds me of the idyllic childhood we had. I’m now a retired pastor. It didn’t take long to discover that every congregation had someone with the “gift” of discouragement. Don’t let the naysayers “steal” the joy you have in your work. To quote the African American Spiritual, “Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me ‘round.” As my uncle would say, “Stay hitched to the plow.” Galatians 6:17

Hi Pete! If you’d like one last ditch effort on the pigs: move the boar away from sow for about a month, far enough away they can’t hear each other. Then wait until she comes into heat and reintroduce Billy. The old farmers near me that grew hogs actually swapped boars, my uncle explained to me that because pigs are so social and intelligent it’s hard for them to breed with sows they recognize and are familiar with. It’s an instinct to prevent inbreeding. Not sure if it’s true but we never lacked for piglets!

I inherited some goats, and have an old billy that we were certain was past breeding. He is magnificent and was riding out his days as a lawn ornament. A neighbor gave us a billy that we were going to process, but he busted our gate and covered the does. Well ol' Willy got his mojo back, and re-covered the females and now we have seven kids that look like him. It took a bit of competition, but he is back in the game!

I discovered your channel about a year ago because of your tractor repair videos. At first I wasn't interested in the farming or every day life videos because I was only searching youtube for small engine (mainly chainsaw) repair videos but I noticed that eventually I started getting excited whenever I would see the blue dot signaling a new video was up and would (and still do) figure out when was going to be the best time to sit down and watch, I was finding the perfect time so I could savor your video. What you have brought to me is the calmness that I have missed in life. You and Hilary really have brought me back to feeling good again. Pete, I know exactly how you feel with the negative, and many times petty, comments that come across on your videos. I took over my Mom's UA-cam channel after she passed in 2020. She cared deeply for her followers who were effuse with support while she battled the cancer that eventually took her life. Mom asked me to keep the channel up and to add to it with my own (poor) attempts at cooking. I've since added my experiences returning to the world of flying commercial aircraft and even some thoughts on Bible verses I read. Comments I receive are mostly encouraging, but there are the occasional negative ones saying "I'll never replace my mother." Why would I want to? I point out that they're free to watch Mom's old videos and avoid mine to their hearts' content, but to leave the negativeness out. Those that persist get forever-blocked. Simple as that. To quote Michael Caine in "The Dark Knight," "...some people just want to watch the world burn." They're contrarians who live for tearing others down to make themselves feel better. Not worth the time to deal with them. What you do has encouraged me and fueled my eventual dream of having a "Gentleman's Farm" where I'll be free to work all my little projects that are constantly bouncing around in my head. Keep it up, Pete. You're a joy to watch. Steve

Pete I really enjoy your videos. Nothing like your video while having my coffee. This reminds me of my days as a kid on the farm. Spending time with the animals and watching my parents and the neighbors working together to harvest and trade with each other. A hand shake meant the same as your word. My parents taught me a deal is a deal and to always try to exceed what you had agreed to. Give it a 110%. We worked hard and played and had fun. Just like you most of the animals would follow us around and we knew they were there for food not just a pet. Please keep doing what you’re doing, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Plus it's not just what you teach for me. I grew up on farms. A whole bunch of it is you(r) calm, controlled and easy going demeanor. At least it is for me. Love your videos and your channel Pete. Pete, your honesty, heart, and even your humor are what makes your videos so great. We need alot more of those qualities in all our lives, today more than ever. For me personally I grew up in your area. I left there at 21, 63 now, for work in a big city. Your videos take me back to the fun days on my grandfather's farm, and you remind me of the quality of the people back then. While I'm watching your videos I can feel the tension of the day disappear, replaced by calm. You be you, and keep up the great work.

After meeting you, eating your steaks, I was sold on the lifestyle. Currently have 2 pigs that are scheduled to be butchered where you go. I found them because of you and I found some purpose in life along the way. I’m only a few months into this journey but it certainly has been a fun adventure. Just who you are means so much to me and inspires me to keep keeping on. I am so thankful to be out of the everyday job market dealing with all of the stress. Showing the old dump in the woods brought back very strong memories . As children we played on farms outer boundaries. You didn’t mess with the farm the farmers never cared about you playing in their wooded areas. Later I hunted most of those spots . Always took a pheasant up to the main house.

Pete, every time I see one of your videos, I can only hope someday, I find peace and tranquility that you have achieved, your smile and calm voice gives a sense of personal happiness only few can say they have achieved. I usually don't post much. But this video has compelled me to send out a huge thank you for what you have brought into my life. I have a small farm in Waynesville Ohio and have actually been inspired to buy a Farmall Model H after watching and seeing the passion you have for Farmall tractors. I very much enjoy the simplicity of this tractor. I truly enjoy driving and using this tractor.
Unfortunately, the little people and their little minds have too much influence of what you are trying to achieve with your videos. I hope you can look past those who do not appreciate the big picture you are trying to create. I know you are far smarter than that, but naturally we are all human and do not usually take negativity well. Keep up the good work and keep your eye on the big picture. So many of the posts I have read over the years are amazing. The influence and inspiration you have given so many far exceed the negativity. Your knowledge and patience are truly amazing. Love all the videos you post. It would be a huge loss if you were to consider slowing down your posts. I know I look forward to your new content every week as I am sure many thousands do as well. Hope to meet you at the farmers market someday.

As a meat and potato man, your sampling makes my mouth water, every time! Like others have expressed, the quiet, slow pace of your daily is so enjoyable. It reminds me of a time, as a boy, when I willingly spent summers at my grandparent's farm. I saw the small things that are missed in our current society. Sky, clouds, weather fronts, deer grazing in the distance, the smell of firewood burning in the cook stove, the farm animals in their daily routine, the change of the seasons, and the ebb and flow of life. A place and time when this life can be noticed. Thank you!

    Hey Pete,
This week while replacing fence posts, your comments on high dollar fencing really rang true with me. My morning coffee with you is always fun and frequently inspiring.
