    One of the best DIY videos I've watched! I'm changing my sons pads tomorrow well done for producing a clear easy to understand video.

      Thanks, it`s a nice easy job to do, providing you can get hold of the right parts, several people have told me that Citroen updated the brakes several times so there are lots of different part numbers for the Xsara Picasso discs and pads.

      That's true. We collected the brake pads from a well known supplier but only when the car was jacked up and the old pads removed could we compare. The new ones were larger and would not fit. On returning them the dealer showed me 4 different pictures even though they had the registration, year of manufacture etc. I chose the correct ones and just like your video it was a piece of cake. I also added screw lock to the bolts before fitting. One side had a 13mm bolt and the other was 12mm!

    This is awesome. I have done this before on the same car but years ago, to get such a great video has got my confidence back.
    Thanks.

      An easy job for the home mechanic if you have the right tools, thanks for viewing.

    That looks to be as easy as Mine Andy. If you can get some brake cleaner, makes the job so much easier. Just a tip, make sure the rubbers are located on the sliders after you've checked them. I just made sure mine were free, didn't notice the rubber boot hadn't located properly. Dirt and dust has got in and worn the bushes. Despite using copper grease etc mine are still a bit noisy. But hey after 21 years not too bad eh!

      Yes, easy job Malc, especially if you have the right tools. I did this a couple of months ago for the MOT, a lot cheaper to change them yourself eh.

      Think one of the worst I've had to do was change the gearbox on my Mk1 Escort on my hill will just a bottle jack. Luckily had a strong mate to hold the box up while I located it.

    your videos are so good. I recently changed my intrument panel light bulbs after watching your video. Now I know how simple brake changing is on my Picasso I shall buy the appropriate torque wrench and get on with it. Now...........do you show how to discover the oil leak Im having and how to fix it?

    Very informative and you made it look easy ! Just to add is this the same procedure for the rear discs and pads too ?

    • @BenniesBritain
      @BenniesBritain  4 роки тому

      Unfortunately I can`t help you there, my Citroen has drums on the rear and not discs.

    given there are two types (at least) of brake pads for this motor could you put a bit up that shows the watcher how to ascertain the right pads to buy before they take the wheels off..

    • @BenniesBritain
      @BenniesBritain  6 років тому +1

      Purchased the new discs and pads from Euro Car Parts, gave them my reg number and they got me the right ones. Probably different size xsara engines have different size discs and pads.

      @@BenniesBritain if only, mine has either lucas or bosch with 4 options for lucas and 2 for bosch.. I got mine with no problem from the 5th supplier I called.. PLUS I watched the vid and borrowed a t55 from a mate only to find it was 13mm bolts holding in the calipers.. Rofl go figure is that just my luck... Anyway they went in really easily which was a pleasant surprise.. Good luck with the channel..

    Having only watched part of video,up to just past bolt removals,,The thought that struck me was,,,,Where did all that brake fluid go when pistons were pushed right back inside.? Surely if you did both sides,,Excessive brake fluid would be pouring inside the enginee bay.??.
    Nasty stuff to have running insiie on the paintwork,it would act as paint stripper..
    Seen a car done many years ago with brake fluid being pushed out of a resovouir..
    Next car under the ramp was an Aston Martin DB5..
    It rained on the car,,,,,and,,,,
    Had to have a complete respray...Just a thought for the people watching...
    Other than that,,,Thank You..

      Hi, I always wrap clean cloths around the master cylinder, then remove the cover, just in case the fluid overflows when the pistons are pushed back. I also use Loctite Screw Lock on the calliper bolt when refitting.
