I was in northern Alberta last year targeting pike but not seeing a lot of action so I started targeting the walleye. I did really well on them. They were fun on a fly too!
I completely agree, it’s crazy that people don’t appreciate them as a gamefish. I live on the Indian River Lagoon and fish for 5+ days a week. That being said, I still get excited to head back to northern MN every summer and target the mighty hauki 😃
Thanks a lot. Was struggling with my leaders this morning and casting them. Too heavy me thinks. Did not have a slow, sink poly with me though ;) It was a reccy so I will head back there a bit wiser now. Tight Lines. H
Glad it helped! I hope it works out for you. The flies get so heavy too so I find that I avoid rabbit fur and similar because of the water weight they carry. I like bucktail and synthetic furs now for my pike fishing.
Great video! Thanks!

Excellent!! Thank you.
I use 30lb Flourocarbon and haven't had a pike cut through yet
I use a 5wt lol
I'm sure they are fun to fight, maybe not so fun to cast too.
So many people are put off pike where im from because of the teeth... I mean to each their own but it sounds like some weird concept of fish racism 🤣
I like to fish for them specifically because they are so toothy and aggressive. As long as you have nice long pliers its all good.
I catch pike on streamers at Clear Lake down by Stavely.
