I'm getting into fly fishing at the tender age of 69. This was very informative that explains in simple terms and covers a lot of questions I had. My interest is salmon fishing in the Matane, Quebec area in Canada. I have procured an older Hardy Jet Set #9 rod and a Japanese Major Medallion 4600 reel. Very happy to learn about backing, line & leads and incidentals you don't think about until you're on site. Looking forward to future videos.
My dad is starting at 71! Im thinking about picking it up too. This was a great video to watch. Have you kept it up? How was the learning curve for you?
Simon, Sir, thank you for your EXCELLENT training and explanation of component parts of the fly fishing rod. You are a wonderful trainer. Thank you so much for this and previous videos.
It's unfortunate that all those kit rods look like kids toys instead of high end quality tools. Missed opportunity to make these mid to high end rods look like rods worth fishing.
Not everyone who gets the starter kits continue with it. So it’s less expensive for them. Patients is a big part of this style of fishing. Getting to know is the cast is the first step. Then the line, leader & Tipper and flies.
