6:25 is my favorite part of this episode. As an American born Chinese. there is always debate whether if I;m just an American and not Chinese but always in my heart. I am Chinese american. Not just an american!

I used to hate Chinese Food because we grew up eating Panda express in Miami. I started watching Eddie when I was living in Italy and then when I moved to the Bay, I met a lot of people of Chinese descent who intro'd me to real Chinese foods of different regions in Oakland. When I got an opportunity to travel to Shanghai a couple years ago, I didn't hesitate & it's all because of Eddie Huang.
Thinking Panda express is Chinese food just like Chinese people think McDonald is Western food.

Oakland has some really legit Chinese food. My favorite Chinese restaurant is in Oakland.

He said so much quality stuff on his show. This is the first non-white travel show I've seen from the west. I enjoy the absence of patronizing perspective. I really appreciate the existence of this show.

When eddie was talking about the attitude change for out of country chinese is spot on and i felt that. Im korean but was mostly raised in the US. First couple times going to korea i got a lot of hate for being a foreign korean but over the years that attitude has been changing but i still feel it is somewhat prevelant

I can relate in a way to what eddie was talking about how the chinese people initally called him american and then they were like no your dad is from hunan so you're also hunanese. Mainly because both my parents are from ghana, born and raised, and I was born in America so like all friends I've had have said oh you're african-american or your american and I was just like I guess so but then when I talk to other african people or other Ghanaians they're like no your parents are Ghanaian so you are too.

I go to this favourite chinese restaurant of mine in Helsinki called Grand Shaghai, and i always eat the dish called "Beef in black pepper sauce". Wonder if it's a really original Shanghai dish or just finnish chinese expats made :)
